They were razor sharp. The worst thing was when politicians were asked what they thought about their Spitting Image caricature. They all squirmed.
Now people just complain about a montage. They don't like the montage. The hat wasn't right. It was too red.
I don't think Corbynistas could cope with Spitting Image.

John Major and David Steel said that it ‘did for them’ and it probably didn’t help.

Despised, I think petra, as it's personal. People are usually mocked about things they've said or done and despised for who they are. But that's just off the top of my head. All politicians are mocked - Spitting Image was far more scathing than anything we have today.

They could have used the pic that Primrose showed on the previous page, much worse.....and a photo taken at a rally.

Now let’s just imagine a major political party - you know one that might even be in government - that for the last four years has refused to publish its membership figures ( you know the membership that selects candidates) but for which there is research that the figures are falling, that three quarters are male and most white, over 65 and middle class. Now imagine that they were in charge of deciding which candidates you could vote for in national and local elections - well really, as if that could ever happen

I don't think rock stars make this much of a fuss or need to control their media image so much. Because that's what it's all about - controlling the media, controlling the image, controlling the message.

Of course it was photoshopped. Perhaps just not by the BBC. The red faced BBC newsnight admit to finding a Google image (already photoshopped) that suited their agenda! If the BBC adjusted the colour that is more photoshopping anyway

There's been an answer to the 'Corbyn photoshopped hat/Russia backdrop' question from someone in Newsnight production.

The image has had the contrast increased & been colour treated, the usual treatment for screen graphics as they need more contrast to work through the screens. If you look you can see it’s the same hat in silhouette.

So no photoshopping.

The background was just a reuse of one previously aired for Gavin Williamson.

Owen Jones is still not happy about it at all though, probably because he's made himself look rather foolish.

I wouldn't mind if you had POGS, I spoke with honesty when I supported him and I spoke with honesty when I learned he had betrayed me and so many party members and his lack of any sympathy and compassion for colleagues who were grieving , so I no longer trust him as a politician , have no respect for him as a man

Policies not personality for me too ilovecheese. Although I do admire Corbyn for his principles. But not easy being a politician. He’s under constant attack as is Theresa May. Why would anyone want to be a party leader????

Well just speaking for myself, I am there because of the policies.
So if a new leader puts forward those sorts of policies, I would remain.
But if a new leader went back to wanting to sell off what remains of our public services (like when New Labour wanted to sell off the Royal Mail) or if they didn't want to build any more social housing (New Labour didn't build any more council houses), let alone wanting to start any more wars, then no, I wouldn't stay with them

I voted for Corbyn as leader , my opinion of him changed when i learned whilst labour members fought back after the disaster of the 1983 election , supported Kinnock's fight against the militants Corbyn was running a campaign to bring expelled militants back into the party. I also learned he had invited IRA leaders to Westminster just weeks after the Brighton bombing, this sickened me , i expect a level of decency in people , he sunk to the bottom of his slime tank for such cruelty , to do this to people who were grieving was so cold, so brutal.

Really lemongrove? This isn’t my experience as a “lifelong Labour member”. But as you seem to know so much about LP members perhaps you are one too?

I know of no involvement of Momentum at all locally. The Labour Party here has had the same members for years.

Tempted to ask where you live but I won't that would be beyond rude.

I will say I am very surprised you have no involvement of Momentum and I find it interesting your local membership has not increased or decreased in years but has had the same same membership for years.

I am sure there are many Labour councillors who have been deselected in favour of Momentum backed candidates and Labour MP's who have been threatened with deselection who would relish their local membership had / will stay the same as it has been for years.
