A continuation of Momentum/Intertia/Magnetism/Elasticity but with a less scientific bias. grin

A thread about Corbyn. For lovers and haters.

In the house yesterday after listening to the Jewish MP's who had suffered so much Diane Abbott informed the house she had received more on line abuse than all the female MP's in the house , wish someone had told her - it's not about you

Tom Watson ,deputy leader , who sits next to Corbyn on the front bench, choose yesterday to sit with the two female Jewish MP's, Corbyn chose to leave the chamber, he is a disgrace

nigglynellie Wed 18-Apr-18 14:55:29

As for your second paragraph, it's such blatant rubbish that its not worth a comment!

nigglynellie Wed 18-Apr-18 14:52:52

I'm sure there probably are m.h. as there probably are in all party's and in all walks of life, but I would be appalled if Mrs May or any other party leader were to treat anything even approaching the abuse these MP's and other party members are having to endure under the leadership of the labour party with such a cavalier attitude. My MP would be in no doubt that if the party valued my vote then nothing less than immediate draconian methods to stamp out anything of this nature would need to be implemented whoever the 'persecuted' people may be, and it made crystal clear that people who behave in this horrible way are not welcome, not now, not ever!

Oldwoman70 Wed 18-Apr-18 14:29:18

There probably are anti-semites in the Conservative party, however, they are not able to be as open about it as those in the Labour party, as far as I am aware Theresa May has not associated herself with anti-semite groups, has not refused to robustly deal with concerns about anti-semitism, did not leave a debate where Jewish women were detailing the abuse they had received or failed to speak in that debate.

Anniebach Wed 18-Apr-18 14:26:47

Really mostly harmless ? You have much knowledge of that party to claim every member is racist , anti Semitic

mostlyharmless Wed 18-Apr-18 14:16:41

Are you sure there are no anti-semites in the Conservative party nigglienellie?
Before you label this a uniquely Labour problem, if all the racists and anti-semites were thrown out of the Tory party there would be no Tory party left!

nigglynellie Wed 18-Apr-18 10:20:47

I find what these poor people are being subjected to simply because of who they are quite shocking. Unbelievably the opposition front bench seem to be supporting this blatant abuse, even encouraging it in the guise of Diane Abbott who appears to ridicule any suggestions of anti semitism in the labour party. What dreadful people they are!
I think we also have to accept that this awful 'Windrush' situation is a shameful stain on the coalition government that I supported! I just can't understand how this could have happened, and feel very ashamed on behalf of these poor people. A great wrong has been done here, but, unlike Corbyn and Co, at least this wrong has, (at last) ) been recognised and will, with appropriate compensation, be put right asap. ( it better be !!!)

Iam64 Wed 18-Apr-18 09:19:11

I watched the debate on anti semitism on line this morning. POGS has already commented that it confirmed what many of us having been saying for a long time. I read the comments underneath the Channel 4 news item which showed the debate. They were almost all criticising the speakers, accusing Luciana B and Ruth S of being nazi jews, not caring about the death of Palestinian children etc. None of those posts acknowledged that both these women have been subjected to vile anti semitic abuse.

Annie, thanks for the link to Jeremy Corbyn laughing with the man who makes negative comments about Ruth Smeeth. I'd seen the video but not heard the comments which make clear that JC knows the man well enough to have sent him a text (after the Police became involved presumably in 'heckling')

Anniebach Wed 18-Apr-18 09:05:48

A kinder politics? Anti semitism, deselection, Momentum bullies.

A leader who admires leaders of Russia. Cuba. Venezuela

POGS Tue 17-Apr-18 22:42:18

Luciana Berger and Ruth Smeeth .

Anniebach Tue 17-Apr-18 21:30:10

for those who missed it

Well it was today.

Anniebach Tue 17-Apr-18 20:58:07

Applause is not permitted, when the new SNP's took their seats in 2015 there was applause and the speaker reprimanded them. I do remember there was applause and a standing ovation from both sides of the house when Blair gave his farewell speech but it is a rule that applause is not permitted

Primrose65 Tue 17-Apr-18 20:41:02

nigglynellie I saw that video too - the most surprising thing for me was the group around her, who agreed with what she was saying. At the start, I thought the journalist had found the most bizarre protester to interview, which sadly, they will do to get a reaction, but you can hear others agreeing with what she says. Somehow I found that more unbelievable than the rubbish she was coming out with. And don't worry about 'not knowing much'. We all just know our own opinion so keep on posting grin

POGS It only occurred to me when I read your post that the applause and standing is probably not permitted. It really was a remarkable scene today and I'm surprised it's not been on the news (perhaps I missed it or it will be on later ).

nigglynellie Tue 17-Apr-18 20:32:57

That describes them perfectly lemon! very unpleasant!

lemongrove Tue 17-Apr-18 20:09:47

Yes, niggly he and Mc Donnell put on a good double act as benign uncles, fishing in their pockets for a half a crown to give their nephew with a twinkle eyed smile.?

nigglynellie Tue 17-Apr-18 20:05:59

Lemon, there's something sinister and scary about this softly spoken seemingly benign man - he makes me shudder!! Well done indeed those Labour MP's, I just wish they could DO something!

Anniebach Tue 17-Apr-18 20:04:00

Lady Shami doesn't agree and she carried out an enquiry , when she announce her findings before the cameras Ruth Smeeth spoke out and was verbally abused by a Momentum activist, Corbyn took immediate action -

lemongrove Tue 17-Apr-18 19:51:52

Good for those Labour MP’s I say.
Not sure what Corbyn is playing at, but his aim is clearly
To prevent either the government or Parliament deciding to take any military action overseas without the UN giving it the green light. In other words probably never as any member there can veto it.The man is a first rate plonker....and that’s being kind.

POGS Tue 17-Apr-18 19:46:20

To those who watched the debate.

I thought the content of the debate not only proved what some posters have been saying for years it also established what has been posted is truthful..

Not only that, there is no opportunity to blame the right wing, the right wing press or anybody else for the truth that was spoken in Parliament today by the those who have bore the brunt of such nastiness and hatred.

Rarely you see such emotion in a debate and to be honest I was quite surprised clapping and standing was permitted but it was not stopped.

nigglynellie Tue 17-Apr-18 19:43:43

Him as well and no doubt many others we haven't thought of!!!

Anniebach Tue 17-Apr-18 19:25:10

Dr Crippin !

Anniebach Tue 17-Apr-18 19:23:36

Niggly, oh it so could be so ?

nigglynellie Tue 17-Apr-18 19:16:57

annie, I do try to keep out of Labour party conversations as I don't know enough about it, and I don't want to cause offence through ignorance, but really D.A imo behaves quite oddly to the point that I wonder if she's ill?! together with a fervent Corbyn supporter in yesterdays peace demo who announced that Assad was a good man because he'd been a doctor!!! Ophthalmologist to be precise! So was Josef Mengale (sp?)!!!!!! and Dr Shipman!!! How strange that Assad is suddenly, among certain groups, becoming the good guy!! Could it be because he's supported by Russia?!!!

Anniebach Tue 17-Apr-18 19:02:02

Abott was a disgrace to the party, as usual
