mcem Mon 23-Apr-18 22:18:41

Turkey baster????

Anniebach Mon 23-Apr-18 21:16:10

No K in the Welsh alphabet ?

Jalima1108 Mon 23-Apr-18 21:04:30

Kayden
I think it should be spelt Caden - meaning Welsh warrior, so could be an outsider at 100 to 1?

Not particularly a Royalist, but also not anti.

Get a bit narked when people post such things as "yet another Royal for the tax payers to support".

To be honest, I'm far more outraged (as indeed is my friend) by the fact that her nephew and partner have just had baby number 7 shock when he hasn't done a days work since he was 19!!!

nigglynellie Mon 23-Apr-18 19:35:55

during WW1 - sorry!

nigglynellie Mon 23-Apr-18 19:35:09

Up to Victoria, the RF were Hanovarians. The Elector of Hanover had to be male, so Prince George of Cambridge, Victoria's cousin took that position after the death of William 1Vth as it couldn't be Victoria. Saxe Coburn Gotha came with Prince Albert, and turned into Windsor after WW1 for obvious reasons!! Their Germanness has been considerably diluted since the WW11 through non German marriages! Louis Moutbatten was very ambitious!!!!

merlotgran Mon 23-Apr-18 19:27:41

when he was murdered the press here did not repeat what was claimed by some in N.I.

Which was what?

Anniebach Mon 23-Apr-18 19:03:48

I think a very sad man

Saggi Mon 23-Apr-18 18:57:53

King George V1 ‘s real name was Albert.... so maybe they could use that. He was an excellent man and it would be a great tribute.

Anniebach Mon 23-Apr-18 18:41:44

He was Day6, arranged the match between Phillip and queenie. Tried to match one of his granddaughters with Charles, when he was murdered the press here did not repeat what was claimed by some in N.I.

This family are certaintly experts at reinventing themselves

Kitty Kelly wrote a book some years ago which was banned here, think it can be bought know , the reason given for banning it - it would distress the Q.M. Perhaps it was reference to the turkey baster .

Day6 Mon 23-Apr-18 18:25:39

He was a bit of a 'fixer' (meddler) behind the scenes by the sounds of it Annie, with ambitions for his family and Philip in particular.

They are all Saxe-Coburg Gothas anyway, that German dynasty, change of name or not. grin They knew better than to keep their name given we have not sided with Germany in two world wars.

It's all a bit strange, when you think how that family has evolved and still has prominence, wealth and power. Now a divorced American actress joins the Windsors, yet the power isn't diluted. I shall try to get my little GD married off to Prince George in the future. grin (Joking. I wouldn't wish that set up on my nearest and dearest.)

Anniebach Mon 23-Apr-18 18:08:29

Mountbatten battled to have the royals take the name of Mountbatten , they settled for Mountbatten Windsor

Day6 Mon 23-Apr-18 17:57:48

Yes, Louis Mountbatten was a loved member of the family - on Prince Philip's side. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh won't be around to watch the little one grow up but they may choose Louis as a nod to Philip's family.

TerriBull Mon 23-Apr-18 17:51:53

I think Louis would be nice, I know there were rather a lot of them in the French royal family and that didn't end well. It's a shame that there appears to be a small pool of names the royal family seem obliged to opt for. In Denmark it's worse, going round one of the castles in Copenhagen last year, there was a list of their kings, that went, if I remember rightly, Christian, Frederic, Christian, Frederic, Christian, Frederic, with maybe a Frederic, Frederic, Christian, Christian but those were the two! Maybe David or Michael for middle names or even Stephen, we had a King Stephen back in 11 something or other, but there was never another one. Louis, David, Michael with a Danish Christian on the end.

Anniebach Mon 23-Apr-18 17:44:41

Betting odds

Arthur tops the list .

Jeremy and Boris. Both 200 - 1

Not one of us has chosen these , wonder why grin

Anniebach Mon 23-Apr-18 17:41:58

True niggly, I bet it was after Duke of Windsor ?

nigglynellie Mon 23-Apr-18 17:23:13

Well, who knows?!!!!!!

Anniebach Mon 23-Apr-18 17:18:14

Could have been so niggly ?, the palace quickly told the world one of the Queen Mother's brothers was named David

nigglynellie Mon 23-Apr-18 17:06:57

Yes that's true annie and with the queen mother still alive! I'd forgotten that!! Do you think it was payback time over the Peter Townsend affair?!!! wink

LuckyFour Mon 23-Apr-18 16:45:07

Reading your posts at 4.45 pm so already know the gender. Won't spoil the surprise though as you may want to hear the proper announcement.

Anniebach Mon 23-Apr-18 16:36:45

Princess Margaret named her son David, niggly ?

nigglynellie Mon 23-Apr-18 16:26:16

He took the name George on becoming king.
