Jacob Rees-Mogg Moves For Conservative Party Leadership.

With an open attack on Theresa Mays handling of the Brexit negotiations many in the media believe that Jacob Rees-Mogg has made his first open move in a bid to become Conservative party leader and Britain's next Prime Minister.

Rees-Mogg in yet another of his ongoing interviews with the media lambasted "weak" Theresa May for preparing the UK for "Brexit failure". Rees-Mogg stated that with The British negotiators going into each set of negotiations with an attitude of "we will kowtow before you, Mr Barnier in every way you possible throughout these talks" there is no hope of success for the UK. The foregoing are undoubtedly harsh words indeed even from an arch hard line Brexitier, but many believe that there is far more to Rees-Moggs words than just Brexit.

It may well be that this hard line right wing politician has witnessed the way that Jeremy Corbyn has moved the Labour party to the left and now feels he could carry out the same in the Conservative party with the exception of that move being in the opposite direction in regards to political ground.

Evidence to the above can be seen in Rees-Moggs attack on Scottish Conservative Leader Ruth Davison, for in the same interview he stated that Davison should not be allowed to marry her longtime same sex partner as planned. However, same sex marriage legislation was put before parliament and passed in 2013 under the David Cameron coalition government.

In making the above comment Rees-Mogg is undoubtedly looking to damage Ruth Davison, who also is seen as a possible next leader of the Conservative party. That stated, it is also being seen as a move against centre ground Concervatives in parliament.

In the above can be seen shades of Momentum's original moves against centre Blairite MPs in the Labour party.

Yes I agree trisher, and JRM is definitely not amusing, you only have to check his voting record to see where his values of lie.

maryeliza54 Fri 01-Jun-18 15:28:57

Yep * trisher* spot on.

trisher Fri 01-Jun-18 15:26:10

At least we now know what makes a good MP and prospective party leader for some.
Integrity, compassion, consideration, honesty, and hard work count for nothing, racism, misogyny, dodgy dealing and elitism are perfectly acceptable as long as you have good manners and are amusing. And as for devious- well JRM outclasses most for that.

Anniebach Fri 01-Jun-18 14:37:55

Yes I am, certaintly not going to waste my time and energy discussing a back bencher as a prospective party leader when that party has a leader. It is a ploy to detract from the devious leader of a party of which I am a member . So not interested

maryeliza54 Fri 01-Jun-18 13:48:15

Well ckearly you are easily amused by JRM

Anniebach Fri 01-Jun-18 12:57:53

I find you so easy to please Maryeliza ?

maryeliza54 Fri 01-Jun-18 12:48:22

So an amusing racist right wing misogynistic relic - we’ll that all right then.

Anniebach Fri 01-Jun-18 12:08:26

I like is humour, he amuses me

maryeliza54 Fri 01-Jun-18 10:43:24

ab how anyone who professes to be a Labour supporter admires JRM is beyond my understanding

Anniebach Fri 01-Jun-18 08:52:08

Rubbish, I am not attempting to derail a thread , I didn’t bring the murder of Stephen Lawrence into this. Not the same as bringing victims of an airline crash into a discussion on an insult to the memory of Tessa Jowell.

trisher Fri 01-Jun-18 08:46:16

Attemps yet again to derail a thread. But never mind, JRM has very nice manners and more than a few dodgy friends, but when he is racist, and when he makes dodgy deals, he does it all very politely, which of course is what matters most isn't it?

Anniebach Fri 01-Jun-18 08:40:24

As for sharing platforms, we need to remember Diana Abbott’s explanation for Corbyn saying he had never met a member of the IRA yet had shared a platform with them, ‘ he didn’t speak to him’

Anniebach Fri 01-Jun-18 08:37:00

It matters to me, a newspaper owner employs a plasterer and the outcome was the newspaper was the only newspaper to speak the truth . There was nothing in it for the newspaper owner . I don’t like the Mail , thought that headline was to admire but didn’t know how it came about.

After reading some of the TB website I felt as though I needed a good scrub.

maryeliza54 Thu 31-May-18 22:44:05

What matters on this thread is not the one time that this rag did something praiseworthy ( and then only because of SL’s father bring PD’ s plasterer) but that JRM has shared platforms with some very dubious characters - and JC’s critics on GN always have plenty to say about platform sharing don’t they and what the company a person keeps says about the man. JRM was warned off going to the Traditional Britsin dinner but ignored the warning - perhaps if he tried inhabiting the 21st century he might have googled them and seen them for the racist filth they are - oh wait, perhaps he did and decided to go anyway. Either way it says a lot about the man.

Anniebach Thu 31-May-18 22:34:34

What matters is the Mail did what it did.

Grandad1943 Thu 31-May-18 22:26:16

Although that has little to do with the associate of Jacob Rees-Mogg discribing Baroness Lawrence as he did and stating she should be deported, or in words to that affect.

And there are a few more nice people like that that JRM associates with. But then according to some on this forum Jacob Rees-Mogg is a very nice fellow himself.

Grandad1943 Thu 31-May-18 22:18:59

As a recent BBC documentary on the Lawrence murder demonstrated, the only reason the Daily Mail supported the Lawrence family was because Steve Lawrence father did a substantial amount of plaster work at the home its owner and got to know him personally.

Of course, that was before the Daily Mails owner took off to his overseas tax haven and from there tell us how we run our lives over here.

Anniebach Thu 31-May-18 21:58:20

Ooops, forgot, it was thanks to Jack Straw for changing the double jeopardy that there was a retrial

Anniebach Thu 31-May-18 21:56:05

The one newspaper that really supported Doreen was the Daily Mail, they even put photographs of the men on the front page with MURDERS as the headline, this was after the louts got off.

Grandad1943 Thu 31-May-18 21:51:07

I believe you may be able to Google that yourself Jalima1108. You will find some pretty disgusting characters in that lot. Look for one who at a dinner described Baroness Lawrence the mother of murdered teenager Steve Lawrence as a N*G*R who should be sent back to her home country.

Doreen Lawrence now Baroness Lawrence has campaigned for justice for her murdered son for over twenty years.

Jalima1108 Thu 31-May-18 20:29:38

Could you give us a list of Jacob R-M's Friends and Associates, please, Grandad so that we can looks out for their actions and words in the msm.
