He is stepping down as editor of the DM to take new job, chairman and editor in chief of Associated Newspapers.

That sounds like he’ll be even more important and influential than ever. Listening to some discussions on the radio about him, he’s definitely a marmite figure.

Does that mean that we will no longer have those articles in the DM with a row of women lined up across the page, all wearing fitted dresses, tan tights and neat little court shoes, with one foot forward and hand on hip, telling us how they spend anything from £1 to £20,000 a year on having their toes manicured or some such silly story?

DH is convinced they are Paul Dacre's secret fetish.

It was said the Mail was aimed at middle England ?

MOnica, that made me laugh (07.59 today) for which, I thank you.

Alistair Campbell's opinion summed it up for me. Dacre is a by word for the worst kind of journalism

Pot calling the kettle black?

Many believe that Dacre's long anti-EU campaign in the Daily Mail tipped the balance of the referendum. Most of his poorly educated readers voted Leave. He was the first editor invited to Downing Street by Theresa May and has often seemed to be writing her script. A very malign influence.

As it has been said he writes for middle England are they poorly educated ?

M0nica Thu 07-Jun-18 20:06:20

Well, DM's next editor will be the current Remain leaning editor of the Mail on Sunday.

I await the transformation of the DM with bated breath. The dawn of a new era???
