Upskirting bill blocked

Do you really think there is time to discuss a bill of this sort when there is much more important stuff to be considered? Personally, I have been watching two Bills currently going through the House of Commons with regard to peoples work status. I am hoping this will do away with bogus self employment - an injustice affecting many workers. The 2nd reading of these bills was supposed to take place in April but because there was so much business to be dealt with, this now will not happen till November !!

Maryeliza, i share your query about why TM decided he qualified to be knighted. Why, given his previous filibustering. Alan Turing - I despair.
Mind you, why were Jeremy Thorpe and Cyril Smith knighted. Allegations about their crimes were well known and well hidden by Mi5 and other agencies. It’s a mystery!

That was the first thing that occurred to me! Why on earth would anyone want to stop this Bill?

Knighted via TM only six months ago. For what? What I’d really like to happen now is for him to be de-bagged tonight and photos of his genitalia to be uploaded to Twitter. My guess is that the majority of Tory MPs will be extremely irritated by this.

Just demonstrates how much the House needs to be modernised.

An interesting article on his activities here. I think he is one of those old reactionaries who thinks that everything should go all his way every time and enjoys throwing spanners into works, regardless of the damage they do.

The police animals bill has the support of the relevant Sec of State (Gove) so it was completely uncontroversial.

This fandango is completely unnecessary.

I find it hard to believe that the overwhelming majority of folk think upskirting is acceptable behaviour.

Wera Hobhouse, the LIbDem MP who promoted this legislation had done a great deal of cross party negotiation and had the support of the Government, including the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry for Equality.

The Scottish Parliament have already enacted this legislation. More than 95% of the public are in favour, yet this one Tory MP Christopher Choke, can prevent it being enacted. I wonder why?

This bill was backed by all parties, including Tories. As a Conservative voter myself I am disgusted that just one man could stop this bill. I think every woman in his constituency should now lobby for him to be de-selected. I wonder what made him object. As someone said - perhaps the photos on his phone should be checked.
