Has had a baby girl weighing 9lb 3oz.

Really pleased for them. I think they're a lovely family.

Why do people DO this? (Lena pronounced Layna)
Spell it Layna, or Laina; it is no good expecting people to be familiar with foreign pronunciations.
The Telegraph thinks it comes from Elena, Greek, a nod to Prince Philip?
It will be misspelled and mispronounced throughout her life, or more likely, she will be called Lenny.

“Lena” is a diminutive of Helena, which in German would be further shortened to “Lenchen” (Laynchen)
So perhaps a nod to Queen Victoria’s daughter Princess Helena who was, I think always known as Lenchen.

Great news.

My first son was 9lb 6. He’s 6’4” and not overweight. My grandson was the same weight. He’s 9 now and quite tall and slender. They both have siblings who were a sensible 7lbs something.

Not as bad as Eugenie though - which apparently should be pronounced, 'Use yer knee' grin

Poor girl. She will have to tell people how to pronounce her name all the way through her life!

merlotgran Thu 28-Jun-18 09:37:54

The baby girl will be called Lena (pronounced Layna) Elizabeth.

They like to be different at Gatcombe grin

Lovely name.

I wonder what they will call her. I like the fact that Zara and her brother have chosen pretty modern names for their children rather than the traditional ones favoured by some of the other Royals :Savannah, Isla and Mia.

My 1st son was 6lb 14 at birth, and 18 inches long. He was a month early. He's now 6ft 2, weighs 15 stone.

My 2nd son was 10lb 13, and 23ins long. He's now 5ft 10, and weighs 12st

An old friend of mine had the dubious accolade of giving birth to the largest baby of the year in our local maternity unit. He was 12lb 4oz. shock

Strangely, neither he nor his older sibling, who had been a mere shrimp at 10lb 8oz, grew up to be notably tall or big.

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Jun-18 20:24:47

weight, not size.
He is now very tall for his age.

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Jun-18 20:23:46

DGS was about that size JustALaugh shock

Apparently I was 9lbs 6ozs but only grew to 5'5" sad

JustALaugh Wed 20-Jun-18 18:54:13

My 2nd baby was 10lb 13oz!! (He's 34 now haha but I still like to brag/moan about the size of him)

Deedaa Wed 20-Jun-18 18:50:19

DS was that size and is now a 6'4" 40 something. Wouldn't like to think about how much he weighs!

PECS Tue 19-Jun-18 23:06:29

My DD1 was 9lb 3oz too , She is 5' 1" and size 10 now as a 40 something!

SueDonim Tue 19-Jun-18 20:09:52

Lovely news, I wish them all well.

I read that the baby was born in Stroud hospital - no fancy maternity units for Zara!

sodapop Tue 19-Jun-18 18:48:30

Yes good news for the Tindalls, they are so down to earth, Mia is a real little character. I wish them all well.

What fantastic news and what a wonderful year for the Queen, two new great grandchildren, a new wife for her grandson Harry, plus the prescious gift of her sight being restored and her husband recovering so well from his hip operation.smile

harrigran Tue 19-Jun-18 18:03:14

Lovely to hear the good news. Zara reminded me of how I looked and felt just before I had DS who was nine pounds.

merlotgran Tue 19-Jun-18 17:31:13

Yes she does. Both her children have two daughters each now.

Jalima1108 Tue 19-Jun-18 17:21:36

Um .... not sure

Greenfinch Tue 19-Jun-18 17:15:31

Does that mean that Anne now has four granddaughters ?

BlueBelle Tue 19-Jun-18 17:03:18

I m glad that big, little lady is out, her mum looked very uncomfortable at the recent wedding

Mapleleaf Tue 19-Jun-18 16:43:02

Yes, indeed. It's always nice to hear of some good news.

Bathsheba Tue 19-Jun-18 15:29:50

What lovely news, so happy for them after all the heartache.

nanaK54 Tue 19-Jun-18 15:12:39
