I am pleased you had a lovely day out with friends, locals and also expats from all over. Like you I enjoyed a lovely social day out with friends and family with no Brexit talk or trouble making.

Were the friends, locals and xpats you speak of today the same ones you spoke of on the other Brexit thread a couple of days ago when you said this of them:-

I am pleased to hear you ' try and tell them they are a tiny minority ' but that begs the question why do you post only about how bad the UK is compared to Switzerland .

I acknowledge you do not shirk at the point made re the EU telling the Swiss they could not carry out their referendum result to limit immigration , in other words Switzerland is just as much in hock to the EU as anybody else in certain areas, however you will say time and again how happy you are to live in Switzerland not the UK.

Like the video of Swiss football hooligans being very violent, which was used during te Leave campaign to 'illustrate' the behaviour of Muslim men. Or the grooming gangs... do you think they represented the majority? This is, tragically how it works.

It was a very few fans in one Ikea store in London compared to all the well-behaved fans everywhere else - so why plaster that all over FB, the world press etc etc I wonder?

I spend all my time talking to all the good things about the UK to all around me, and have always done so. But I am also very aware of the image such behaviour leaves with many others. All I was saying, is that in the current context- such behaviour plastered all over FB, the world Press and TV news, is really NOT helpful.

I am very proud of so many things British, but not THAT. Why do you think I get so upset about what is being done to the NHS, Social Services, the education system, and so much more- and currently the very essence of what is best about the UK, open-ness, tolerance of others and differences, care for special needs ... where the UK was head(s) above most, perhaps all, including France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany, just to quote those I know most.

Yes, I've experienced it too, with Germans ignoring the queue for a bus and shoving a disabled man out of the way, until two British men held them back and allowed disabled, women and children first - and - oh, I won't go on, it's boring.
There are ill-mannered people in all nationalities.

The worst behaviour I've encountered on holiday was in Montenegro. These were Russians. They're not just annoying, they are frightening.

All I have heard is about the Thai cave rescue - with two British volunteer cavers at the forefront of the rescue and a very good-tempered football match between Sweden and England.

Your replies however sound as if you are a voice in the European wilderness Jura2, the only person to put people straight, the only person to know what other nationalities may or may not be saying, the only person to understand what opinions are in the U.K.
In your own (dare I say) insular way you give the impression that the rest of the U.K.,- present company included- live in an ivory tower, have no awareness of foreign media, never communicate with other nationalities or see for ourselves what is happening outside our shores.
We may have roots and family in other countries, may have adult children in other countries, may have been educated in other countries, may travel extensively, but you give the impression that you are the only person to speak with authority on these issues.
I find that hard to stomach and like others can find it patronising and based on your personal opinion, to which you of course have a perfect right.

The Hôtel in Crete was very apologetic ...and said it was rare to have such a group as it was a 4* Hôtel.

No idea were you holiday, I have never witnessed behaviour like you have, and myself and family have been to every continent. Travel has always been a pleasure, oops sorry apart from a hotel in Sarasota which was overrun by extremely loud and rude people from Chicago!!!

I can be and am very critical of aspects of Switzerland too, I can assure you.

I am reporting what people abroad see... and how they react to it. I said I am aware it is a minority, and that they do not represent the reality of UK. Try and explain that to those who see it in the Press and TV, and experience it again in their towns with stag dos and the like, and in holiday resorts all over the world... believe me, I try - and get into trouble for doing so too, for sure.

And when I do they reply 'it is most often, practically alway the Brits who behave like that on holiday - ruining it for everyone else who have worked hard all year to be able to go and relax, and have their time ruined by such groups. Oh I do try and tell them they are a tiny minority , and they reply 'much too big as far as we are concerned'.

And if I recall aright, you believe that it is the young people of the U.K. who voted predominantly Remain, and the old fogeys who voted Leave?

Just come back from a lovely day out with friends, locals and also expats from all over ... they all commented on the behaviour of some of the England supporters, going n a rampage in an IKEA store, smashing up the place singing 'it's coming home' - overs damaging an ambulance, standing on the roof, young women showing their boobs and overs kicking the vehcle, with ambulance staff inside

A lovely day out indeed criticising nationals of this country you claim to “love so much”.
I would not be proud of them either but
a) you have no evidence regarding their political persuasion
b) what about the riots and arson in Nantes over the past few nights
c) hooliganism is not restricted to Brits either at hone or abroad. I have seen some appalling behaviour by East German (as was) youths and the Baltic states are also notorious.

You seem only too glad to shake your head sorrowfully while putting the boot in wth the other foot.
Is it any wonder (some) other posters find your avowed “Britishness” only expedient when it suits you?

I don't know if Jura would agree but I think that pugilistic and/or jingoistic sentiments link Brexit and hooligans abroad .
