Luckygirl Mon 09-Jul-18 18:28:06

What day is Dead Ringers on now?

BlueBelle Mon 09-Jul-18 18:27:23

I think the whole blooming lot should follow Farages gang and disappear up their own xxxx and we need to tell Europe it was just a bad dream
Not going on the political threads much I didn’t realise someone was so utterly rude about Scotland so pipe down Nellie you don’t speak for me

MawBroon Mon 09-Jul-18 18:23:23

This week’s Dead Ringers should be a cracker!

I agree that it's time to cancel Brexit because this government hasn't the ability to steer us through without major irreparable damage to the country. Trouble is, as a Labour supporter, I don't think they are any better placed.

maizie it is par for the course for nellie to be thoroughly nasty about Scotland and par for the course to ignore her.
Thanks for the reminder that she is far from representative of decent English folk.

I think you are absolutely right LuckyGirl. I have a sneaky feeling this is all a deliberate Tory plan to retire from power for a while hoping to hand over to Labour in a GE.

Brexit is undeliverable. We reach the deadline with nothing resolved, catastrophic economic repercussions and the blame squarely at the door of the party in power on 29 March 2019. Another GE and Tories back again.

This is the price we pay for a two party system where neither are fit to govern.

David Aaronovitch and Peter Kellner were right about the Brexit generation dying out, that the slim margin wanting to leave will have been wiped out by the time we do leave. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TSgi9WsoaQ

Having watched much of this afternoon's proceedings in the HoC, I have to hand it to Theresa May, she is doing her best. Marks for trying, marks for stamina, she responded to a lot of questions from members on all sides.

I say "responded" not "answered". She rarely actually answered a question. How many times did she resort to slogans and meaningless mantras?

She looks as if she is losing it, but I hope she hangs on until we get to the point where the country realises we have been led up the garden path (to quote Aaron Bank's contemptuous judgement of leave voters) and we all decide to cancel brexit.

Smileless2012 Mon 09-Jul-18 17:59:28

I wouldn't mind betting that if TM could throw down the keys to number 10 for someone, anyone, to take over she'd do it in a heart beat.

I feel sorry for her. She's up against it.

Luckygirl Mon 09-Jul-18 17:55:16

In truth I do not think anyone wants the poisoned chalice of the mess that this shambles of a government has made of the leave negotiations. Well at least anyone in their right mind.

LiltingLyrics Mon 09-Jul-18 17:45:09

So the Foreign Secretary who said President Trump should be welcomed to the UK walks just days before his arrival. One might have infered Johnson wanted to to be the one doing the welcoming but apparently not.

MaizieD Mon 09-Jul-18 17:38:23

Some say it's a calculated move for leadership of the party

Why would the tory party elect a proven liar, who has disgraced the post of Foreign Secretary for the last 2 years, as their leader?

This is getting more than just a bit surreal...

MaizieD Mon 09-Jul-18 17:36:12

What an extraordinary thing to say, nellie.

Leave me out of your 'we', please.

nigglynellie Mon 09-Jul-18 17:33:14

paddyann, if by some miracle Scotland left the union it would be the best news we in England have heard for years. So fingers crossed and here's for hoping!,?

Fennel Mon 09-Jul-18 17:23:06

Some say it's a calculated move for leadership of the party.

matson Mon 09-Jul-18 17:17:50

He is no great loss !!!

paddyann Mon 09-Jul-18 17:17:27

Yes but, those voters are UK wide so only small pockets of them with no real influence and not enough MP's to clear up Mrs Mays mess .SNP need to pack their bags and come home and fight for Independence here theres nothing we can do in Westminster who treat us with appalling arrogance and disdain

MiniMoon Mon 09-Jul-18 16:27:24

My mother always voted Liberal. I think she might have had the right idea. Honestly, today's government is a shambles.

trisher Mon 09-Jul-18 16:13:43

I've heard the DUP is busy spending money as quickly as possible just in case things fall apart and someone wants the bribe back!
Bye Bye Boris (anyone think he might have a hidden agenda and TM should watch out?)

Anniebach Mon 09-Jul-18 16:09:12

Not a general election please, over fifty years of campaigning for a labour government but I cannot campaign for a party led by Corbyn-Unite-Momentum .

varian Mon 09-Jul-18 15:56:45

There certainly are many LibDems left Paddyann- (over 100,000 party members) and the number of voters is constantly rising.

I agree that we have been sidelined by the media and are very disadvantaged by FPTP - do remember that the 12 LIbDem MPs represent more than twice as many voters as the SNP's 35.

We are living in strange times and things might change in an unexpected way.

paddyann Mon 09-Jul-18 15:33:41

General Election coming up .What a shame theres no one party any better than the other.Labour is a disaster,Tories have a proven track record of being a disaster and are there ANY Lib Dems left ?

M0nica Mon 09-Jul-18 15:33:14

Good Riddance, his presence in the cabinet mad the British Government a bigger international laughing stock than it already was.

suzied Mon 09-Jul-18 15:32:34

Boris is a charlatan and his sole concern is his own position. He isn't interested in the needs of the country let alone the "just about managing" the government were supposed to put first. Lets hope May has her stab vest on. I'm hoping this will backfire on Boris and he will have to spend more time with his family.

Grannyknot Mon 09-Jul-18 15:31:18

Re JC, GrannyGravy13 me too! Scotland, here I come.
