Hi, MaizieD I was wondering where you were in this thread as it seemed just your type of "field" with some of the less intelligent Brexitiers being on here.

I will correct the above as all Brexitiers must be very unintelligent especially those who hope for a "no deal" scenario. wink

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 23:06:51

Jalima I have been thinking of the toilet roll shortage you mentioned, I think it was about 1974.
There was a sugar shortage too a couple of years earlier?
Nearly all caused by idiots stockpiling them.grin

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:05:17

No need to worry about pasta.
Oh good! I passed on your message to DH petra and he said thank you but he wasn't worrying anyway, he hates the stuff.

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 23:04:47

Yes MaizieD so am I. It may be the only thing we can ever agree on.

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 23:03:44

Oh, you mean the post where I told you that DH had laughed at your comments Grandad43 ? Your comments that women on GN were mean to you because you are a man, and that you are compiling ‘evidence’ to present to an equalities board and that we should watch our step?Is that the post you mean, because I can’t think of another one.

In the late 1980s, early 1990s the eu was spending €10 billion a year, a third of the CAP budget in order to allow traders to get rid of the eu's growing export surpluses.
I remember the 'wine lake' - I had my swimming cossie ready for a swim!
And the 'butter mountain'

MaizieD Wed 18-Jul-18 22:59:09

I am enjoying this thread enormously! Thanks jura grin

Grandad1943 Wed 18-Jul-18 22:55:40

No doubt lemongrove will go running to DH for support and a shoulder to cry on when her Brexit Britain dream does go wrong
Judging from one of her posts the other day. grin

Grandad1943 Wed 18-Jul-18 22:49:09

Yes Chewbacca I have a very cheerful disposition as anyone who knows me personally I believe will tell you.

However, I am also a realist and not one to put my fingers in my ears and my head in the sand to avoid what I see as a problem.

However, the above is what undoubtedly is what the vast majority of Brexitiers are engaged in at the present time, and in that threatening hundreds of thousands of peoples jobs in the process

But there, what does that matter as long it is not your living that is likely to go, carry on

Chewbacca Wed 18-Jul-18 22:48:37

You can have them for mates rates lemon. wink

MawBroon Wed 18-Jul-18 22:47:09

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 22:41:48

Bet you sell a lot of those tinfoil hats Chewy may I pre-order ten of them?

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 22:40:47

grin

Chewbacca Wed 18-Jul-18 22:30:27

Is it being so cheerful that you keeps you going Grandad1943?

Grandad1943 Wed 18-Jul-18 22:23:26

As you state Chewbacca "might never happen", but the way Brexit is going this week most probably will unless this useless government gets a grip on things.

As we all learned, in 1936-1939 there were those that said, stop fretting it will not happen, and what became of their unwillingness to listen to those that warned????

Wake Up

Chewbacca Wed 18-Jul-18 22:13:25

It must make for a miserable and worrying life, for those who spend so much of their time fretting and stressing about things that might never happen. Food shortages, fuel shortages, mass unemployment, travel restrictions, no medicines..... hell fire; there are some pessimistic people about.

Grandad1943 Wed 18-Jul-18 22:12:08

Petra, you speak of the stacking of heavy vehicles on the M20 in 2015. That demonstrated what happens when only one of the large roll on roll off ports is affected by the disruption.

You should think on if every port in the UK were to be affected in a similar way and that's when JIT distribution would totally break down.

Theresa May spoke on the plans for the disruption to JIT to the chairman of the Commons Committees today and on the Andrew Marr program on Sunday, so it is obviously of great concern to her and those with some sense in the Tory party.

There is also the evidence of last winter when bad weather caused widespread road transport disruption in many parts of the country. That weather lasted for only a few days, but supermarkets throughout the country had many empty shelves for more than a week even after a rapid thaw took place.

However Petra, you carry on believing the same will not happen after a no deal Brexit. Just join the others like yourself and put your fingers in your ears, your head in the sand and invite everybody to jump of the cliff with you.

However, day by day there seems to be an ever dwindling number in Britain willing to join you in that.

MissAdventure Wed 18-Jul-18 22:01:12

Well, sorry to interrupt with sillyness, but really, thanks.
I've had a miserable day really, up until then.

jura2 Wed 18-Jul-18 21:58:32

My kids always sung that one- much better.

Same as squashed tomatoes and stew - it is not 'wrong' - just a choice to make it different, for fun indeed.

MissAdventure Wed 18-Jul-18 21:57:45

This has really tickled me.. smile
Made my day.

jura2 Wed 18-Jul-18 21:57:08

oh petra- where on earth do you think they get the hard flour 00 required for pasta that is not grown in UK?!? And for bread too. Please.

And yes, I am fully aware that I do not live in the UK currently, thanks for reminding me, just in case. Doh ...

MawBroon Wed 18-Jul-18 21:55:01

Haven’t lost my SOH Jura I just don’t find anything funny in people getting things wrong.

Must be a Brit thing.
