Exit from Brexit
(505 Posts)Brexit has not yet happened, and there can be no certainty that it ever will.

You couldn't be more wrong. The glorious day can't come soon enough. I wanted it to happen on June 24th 2016, but obviously that wasn't going to happen.
Those who celebrate with glee, wine, whisky, fireworks and cakes - such news...
'He said: ‘It has become clear to the BMA that the risks of Brexit for the nation’s health are too great, and that it is becoming increasingly difficult to secure the kind of deal which will work to the benefit of patients, the medical workforce and health services across the UK and Europe.
‘Now that more is known regarding the potential impact of Brexit on patients, the health workforce and health services, the BMA believes the public should have a final say on the Brexit deal, to reject a “no deal” and all the risks that such an outcome carries.
‘Some will say the BMA is scaremongering by warning of the dangers of a "no-deal" Brexit, but this is not the case. As experts in delivering health services and providing care for our patients, we have a duty to set out the consequences of leaving the EU with no future deal in place.’

This is not scaremongering. It is a serious warning from the BMA, who I trust to understand the NHS.,
I pray for them and their families in case they need medicines, care and cancer, diabetes and anaphylactic treatment. And I, and others, are being attacked for expressing concerns - but they get away with showing not a care for them and their future, young and old.
really have to ask themselves some serious questions about their motives and a lot more.
And massive job losses, borders totally vulnerable, supply chains broken, and so much more.
One day, soon, they will have to answer for their pride and antiquated nationalism - destroying this amazing country.
Shame.
Petra, Lemon, poppyred, your above posts will appear to many I am sure to be the Trembling jokes of some now very worried leave voters
Petra Lemon HURRAY !!! ???
Lemon
Did you know that we now have a time that we are officially going to leave on the glorious day: it's 11 0/clock.
I'd assumed it was going to be midnight and I would have all the bells and whistles ( and British champagne) going off.
So now I know it's going to be one long day/evening/ night time party. Cant wait ???????
Surely by now we all know that BJ lied? - and not just in the Opinion of the Guardian and its readers. He has form. He is a proven liar - sacked by the Times when working as a journalist, making up lies about the EU, then sacked again by John Major for lying. If you thought he told you the truth in the referendum campaign, you must surely now admit that you were fooled by a habitual liar.
It’s time we came to to our senses. Brexit is a disaster and must be stopped. Leave campaigners promised our exit from the European Union would herald a glorious new era – the sunlit uplands of ‘global Britain’, with new trade deals signed in a matter of months and an extra £350 million per week for the NHS. But what do we have today? Sterling has collapsed, Boris has been busy bungling in Brussels, and the government’s own leaked economic assessments show that leaving the EU will harm every single region of the country, especially ‘left behind’ areas that voted to Leave. The public was misled, and as David Davis once said, ‘If a democracy cannot change its mind, it ceases to be a democracy’. Let’s end this madness and call the whole thing off.

Poppy .....yes, I can hardly be bothered anymore, it’s true.
but now and again I pop into a thread to see it’s still going on ( and on and on).
When we do leave the EU next March, will these threads vanish or is that too much to hope for?
It had occurred to me - it's common sense, no deal, no brexit.
But legally?
I think that that's what a number of British people think, too, but, according to barrister David Allen Green, (blogs as 'Jack of Kent') they (and, presumably,Ms Rodrigues) are wrong. Once the 2 years of the Article 50 notification expires we're legally out, deal or no deal.

If it's the same information that I poster a couple of days ago? It's from Politico.
This is a site that Varian often quotes from and of course wants us to believe ( why else would you post it)
Newnanny, where was this from and what was their evidence?
What do you make of this?

Until now Maizie
They may as well paint it over.
I know, Jalima. That seems a bit 'meh' to me but the Americans seem proud of it...
It continues The wretched refuse of your teeming shore
I read an article yesterday that stated the majority of people in country now want to leave EU with no deal at all. I can't remember exact percentage but around 52% and some of these stated even if UK worse off financially. Around 48% wanted to stay in EU or accept May's seal if she ever gets one. It struck me at the time as very similar figures to referendum result in 2016. I don't think many people have changed their mind from their original vote and article stated many even more polarized in their views than in 2016.
The National Crime Agency has launched a criminal probe into Brexit donor Arron Banks, it was announced today.
The election watchdog referred the millionaire - and the Leave.EU campaign he co-founded - for "suspected criminal offences" after a probe into funding for the 2016 EU referendum.
The Electoral Commission said there were "reasonable grounds" to suspect Mr Banks was not the true source of £8m in loans and that he "concealed the true details of these financial transactions".
"The National Crime Agency has now launched a criminal investigation," the Commission said in a statement. It added: "A number of criminal offences may have been committed."

Why has it taken till now for the National Crime Agency to act?
48.1% ie 16,141,241, are also “the people” and it was not their will to leave. I voted Remain but would accept the result with more confidence if I felt that the government were competently negotiating a deal that will not seriously damage the UK. All the evidence so far doesn’t give me that confidence.
Poppyred: "I would give up Lemongrove - they truly believe that they are far superior to the “Brexit Brigade” as Varian refers to us. At the end of the day they LOST"
Yes, they lost their European citizenship. A huge loss.
Since you WON ,*Poppyred*, perhaps you could explain what you gained.
The country as a whole certainly lost, but some people did very nicely out of fooling enough of the people just enough of the time to manipulate the currency markets and net in a fortune.
"Pollsterss said they believed Brexit yielded one of the most profitable single days in the history of their industry. Some hedge funds that hired them cleared in the hundreds of millions of dollars, while their industry on the whole was battered by the chaos Brexit wrought in global financial markets. Although confidentiality agreements have made it difficult to discover the identities of many of the hedge funds that bought exclusive or syndicated exit polls, at least a dozen were involved, and potentially many more, Bloomberg found."

I would give up Lemongrove - they truly believe that they are far superior to the “Brexit Brigade” as Varian refers to us. At the end of the day they LOST. ??
Not the famous lines engraved on the Statue of Liberty, then?
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
It put me in mind of the Romans (plebs), French Revolution, Marx etc lemongrove.
'The hoi polloi' aka 'The great unwashed'
Be careful, lemon. Some people might just pour a bit of scorn on 'the will of the people'. A fascist trope which I believe is used to justify the ludicrous imposition of the result of an advisory poll on a deeply divided populace.
