Frank Field is resigning the party whip and will serve as an independent MP in protest of the party’s excuses over anti semitism and bullying in the party

After 39 years of being a labour MP

Shame on you Corbyn, shame on you

varian Sat 01-Sept-18 19:46:27

Sorry Trisher I should have said your DS.

In answer to your question Annie I have been a member of the Liberal Party and later the Liberal Democrats since the 1970s. In my youth I voted Labour.

I am probably still to the left of the party and was a reluctant supporter of the 2010 coalition, Like most LibDems, I would have preferred a LIb/Lab coalition but the numbers did not add up.

trisher Sat 01-Sept-18 19:33:22

I don't have an OH varian

Anniebach Sat 01-Sept-18 19:33:09

Varian, may I ask how long you have been a lib supporter, did you remain so after Clegg cuddle up to Cameron in the rose garden?

Anniebach Sat 01-Sept-18 19:30:29

Labour won three consecutive elections with Blair as leader, no other labour leader has done so.

1983 far left brought a humilating defeat and took 14 years to recover,

If as is claimed Blair was’t far enough left does this not tell us what the voter wants ?

lemongrove Sat 01-Sept-18 19:29:28

of course he knows annie [McDonnell] he is shedding crocodile tears as he can't wait to get rid of moderate MP's.

lemongrove Sat 01-Sept-18 19:27:35

and it's a mistake to think there isn't antisemitism within the current LP trisher so much so that there is a very real problem with it.
you are in denial, because it's something you would rather not face up to.
You say that you 'do not know' and neither 'do I'.... well, you may not have experienced it, and neither have I [we are not Jewish] neither have I experienced seeing rape, shoootings, muggings or a knife attack, but as it's widely reported I know it happens all the time.

varian Sat 01-Sept-18 19:25:04

I am glad to hear you voted Liberal trisher but the problem we have with our UK "democracy"is twofold - FPTP means many votes can never count, and secondly, far too many Labour and Tory voters are, unlike you and your OH, unwilling to ever vote any other way no matter how appallingly their parties behave.

Anniebach Sat 01-Sept-18 19:22:43

I give up. John McDonald is worried and sadden by the prospect of a Labour split and has appealed to MP’s considering leaving the party to engage in dialogue with the leadership.

Does he not know it has been split since he snd Corbyn took on the leadership . Does he not remember he stood on stage in the O2 and called these MP’s f*****g losers .

trisher Sat 01-Sept-18 19:19:59

Incidentally I voted Liberal because their policies at the time were more left-wing than the Labour Party. I don't think I was alone. My DS joined the Green Party because Labour were too right wing. It's a mistake to think there aren't socialists around just because you aren't one.

POGS Sat 01-Sept-18 19:08:33

trisher

" and then act as accuser, judge and jury. Something I have never done."

Sigh

POGS Sat 01-Sept-18 19:06:57

Well perhaps those who are deemed as Blairites will have a bit more bloody gumption than those who gave up Labour in what 1997 when Blair became Labour Leader upto 2016.

It will be interesting to see if the Labour voter is in chime with the Labour membership / activists and Corbyn / Momentum won't it.

trisher Sat 01-Sept-18 19:00:53

POGS that's quite simple, we all knew Tony Blair was a chancer who would move on and the party would return to its roots. The question surely should be why didn't all those people who believed in Blairism split and make a party of their own when he left. Ah I know why. They wouldn't have had the backing of the Unions, because they were never socialists and the Labour party was and is.

trisher Sat 01-Sept-18 18:57:06

It seems Annie that some Labour MPs are not safe from the vitriol expressed on GN constantly. The same things by the same people, who express their beliefs in democracy and the Labour party, and then act as accuser, judge and jury. Something I have never done.If you regard my posts as rubbish I am actually quite happy. I wouldn't want to be part of the narrow, judgmental, self righteous posters on GN. It does make you realise why all the left wing posters leave.
Iam64 there is at least one incorrect post on this thread about who was targetted by the Nazis first. But of course you knew that.

POGS Sat 01-Sept-18 18:56:16

trisher

" Now we have returned and there are those who still don't want us because we are socialists. Well tough. You can try all the slurs you want, you can believe a right wing press, you can think up conspiracy theories and allegations of bullying. All will be investigated. But what isn't going to happen is that the younger generation and the confiirmed socialist are going to go away. We've claimed back a socialist party. "
---

For all the years you and those like minded were in what shall we call it ' the wilderness' ' because you felt the Labour Party was no longer Socialist I wonder why there was never a new party formed called something like The Socialist Party? Corbyn and McDonnell could have fronted it and according to you it would have proven popular.

If ever a post was made that shows the division within the Labour Party since Corbyn /Momentum took the Labour Leadership and the inevitable return of many who once gave up on Labour your post has summed it up by far the best.

Anniebach Sat 01-Sept-18 18:47:03

No POGS , no Labour MP is safe from the vitriol coming from their own party, well with the exception of Jeremy Corbyn MP, John McDonald MP, Diane Abbott MP

There is another resignation coming up

POGS Sat 01-Sept-18 18:39:02

I think we can usually decide as to who, what we see as a nasty piece of work but it ain't Margaret Hodge and it sure as hell is not Frank Field.

As with Frank Field , Margaret Hodge has been held up as a decent Labour MP in the past but not since Corbyn/ Jeremy for Leader Momentum became the voice of Labour it would appear.

Is any Labour MP safe from the vitriol coming from their own party ?

I think they must be wondering what the hell happened to the Labour Party they served for years when they become the food for the attack dogs who perversely are left wing Corbyn devotees.

Says it all.

Anniebach Sat 01-Sept-18 18:24:23

I have spoken to party members around the country, where Momentum is in control of a LP if anyone complains the response is the same , join another party !

Anniebach Sat 01-Sept-18 18:20:26

trisher, are you bored? Deliberately playing a wind up game? You are an intelligent woman but your posts at times? rubbish. I think I for one am feeding your need .

Iam64 Sat 01-Sept-18 18:20:11

It always surprises me when a discussion about anti semitism and the holocaust results in everyone being reminded that the Nazis also targeted other groups, those with disabilities, political prisoners, gays, Roma peopke, to name a few.
Who believes the Holicaust ‘only’ targetted Jewish people? Anybody? Thought not.

Anniebach Sat 01-Sept-18 18:16:55

A female labour councillor has just given an interview, she endured so much bullying it brought on depression, she mail the complaints section and received a reply stating they were dealing with so many complaints they would respond in a week. When they contacted her she was told it would take a year to deal with her complaint, she has resigned from the party.

David Blunkett has spoken out today

Labours statement - we have a large number of members and increase our majority in the last election.

In plain speak - just zip it all critics , our mighty leader is above critcism

eazybee Sat 01-Sept-18 18:13:00

Well said, Jalima, and Anniebach, for your spirited defence.

Jalima1108 Sat 01-Sept-18 17:57:52

I don't know if there is an anti-semitism problem in the Labour Party lemon and neither I suspect do you.

You couldn't make that up either.

Anniebach Sat 01-Sept-18 17:22:00

Ken Livingstone was investigated trisher,

Suspended for a year, followed by suspended by a year followed by suspended indefinitely, even he got fed up and left the party.

Peter Willsmsn, ally of Corbyn and member of the NEC was recorded making an anti semetic rant , he apologised so the NEC said it was closed.

Grandmashe43 Sat 01-Sept-18 17:14:47

Oh Trisher, for goodness sake, accept it. It has happened.it must stop.

trisher Sat 01-Sept-18 17:12:15

And are the allegations being investigated?
