all the time that Corbyn sat on the backbenches he was regarded as a far left thinker by other MP's, I hardly think that has changed.A serial defyer of the Labour Whip and more or less all that the LP stood for and was known to have Trotsykest views. Nobody took him seriously.

Jeremy Corbyn 'appears' to be far-left because the Overton Window has moved well to the right over the past few years.

As I recall, there was nothing particularly 'far left' about the 2017 Labour Manifesto on which they fought the General Election. I believe that comments from other European 'socialist' (i.e social democratic) countries concluded that it was pretty middle of the road.

I think we'll be better able to judge how 'left' they are when the next manifesto is published.

Surely it's not much of a debate for a person to just assert that they are centre left because they say they are, without any further information as to why they think their views are centre left. Opinions differ as to what the "centre left" actually means.

Annie I have read about Corbyn, I have heard him speak. I know his voting record and I know his beliefs and standards. I support many of them. I have yet to see any post from you about Corbyn which contains anything apart from name calling and abuse. And that's the level of debate you indulge in.

All I want is a decent society where the wealth is controlled (democratically I must add) so that it reaches all and not just a few at the top.

But those of us who want this are up against seriously vested interests, who also own most of the media. Hence the demonisation of Corbyn - you didn't fall for it did you?

That's why we need parties and demonstrations - to challenge those in power who have neglected ordinary people for many decades.

No it is actually a criticism of the level of debate on GN where people make sweeping statements and repetetive posts and can't back up their ideas with facts or genuinely held beliefs. It can't be helped if others make their case with more knowledge and passion and hence "make mincemeat" of someone.
Bullying is usually accompanied by a desire to cause hurt or injury. A better example is the name-calling found on GN.

I would suspect Annie that they are now such a small party with few funds (many of those I know are in low paid work, studying or living alternative lifestyles) actually funding candidates would be difficult. They don't have many backers of course, no one puts money into that party. Why were they at the conference? To discuss policies I suppose and trade ideas. Discussion is surely always good.

Do you ever question why the communist party decided not to put forward candidates in elections when Corbyn became leader, and why they joined with Momentum at their conference last year ?

I respect people’s choice of political ideals if they are open and honest and open about them.

Hurrah POGS It HAS sunk in!!!! The Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn is not as has often been posted Far Left. It does not embrace Far Left policies but reasonable Centre Left Policies. So all those who keep posting about the Labour Far Left should put up or shut up. (But once again I'm not holding my breath).
Incidently (but it might interest you) I'm not far Left either. I know Far Left people and believe me they would make mincemeat of you. I don't agree with them, but they are a formidable bunch who know their facts and argue with knowledge and conviction.

I was disappointed it was not covered on the BBC Parliament Channel I am sure it is usually as I have watched it many times in the past. I have only caught a snippet live on BBC News and Frances O'Grady was on the podium.

That means you are Centre or Centre Left does it not.?

So by asking those who are Centre Left to post about Centre Left policies it can be answered by yourself and others who don't believe Corbyn/Momentum are are not Far Left.

Oh POGS I have many times posted that the Labour Party is not Far Left and asked which policies of theirs are seen as Far Left by those who make such an accusation. I have now posted what I see as far Left policies. I await some policies which those who claim to be Centrist Left would like to see the Labour Party supporting. But I'm not holding my breath!
