we are acting like Lemmings jumping off the White Cliffs of Dover waving a Union Jack

The truly ironic thing about your statement, Bridget, is that lemmings don't actually rush over cliff edges en masse. It's a myth. In the famous film of it which everyone has seen, the lemmings were forced over... Which is how many of we Remainers feel.

Bridgeit Sun 16-Sept-18 15:52:23

Ahh Annibach, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have someone anyone ,who did some straight talking to us the electorate, which ever party you listen to, believe in,they all treat us the Electorate like Mushrooms ie feed us on S- - t & keep us in the dark.!! ?

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 15:43:03

I believe so Bridgeit. Hence the fence sitting.

Grandmashe, yes we certaintly have seen it all before , from the seventies until 1997, it was a hard , difficult fight regaining the voters trust , but we did it.

Grandmashe43 Sun 16-Sept-18 15:32:36

It’s so sad Annie, we’ve seen it before with the extreme left,it will take years for us to recover, but we will.

Bridgeit Sun 16-Sept-18 15:22:22

Sounds like the Labour Party, believes that the Electorate are so fed up with the EU business ,that they believe they could win a General Election on the back of this discontent, which is probably why they don’t want to disclose too much detail, thereby avoiding accountability in the future.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 15:15:52

Grandmashe, one party of the party , there are still true socialists in the party but are bullied into silence .

I agree with your post

Grandmashe43 Sun 16-Sept-18 15:05:46

Grandad, you represent all that is wrong with trade unions and the present Labour Party. Your ilk will not last. True labour supporters are well aware of what is happening and we stand no chance of forming the next government. Is this what you really want?

nigglynellie Sun 16-Sept-18 14:56:35

Grandad. I haven't got annie's stamina or courage in the face of almost certain ridicule and probable abuse. Does that answer your question?!

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 14:46:33

They refuse to say , they will only speak of a general election

Iam64 Sun 16-Sept-18 14:44:51

Emily Thornbury said yesterday that the LP would vote against any Brexit proposal in order to force a General Election. What their position would be on the EU in any election remains something of a mystery.

Bridgeit Sun 16-Sept-18 14:44:31

Ahh thanks Annibach, well let’s hope it happens, I think the country would become more united & accepting of the outcome if there were to be a 2nd vote because we would ‘All’ have a clearer picture of the trials , tribulations pitfalls & benefits that are about to affect every part & every person of our Country.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 14:33:45

Sadik Khan has now called for a second referendum Bridgeit but the decision makers in the Labour Party refuse to support it, all they will say is ‘we are keeping our options open’ which is realy avoiding a yes or no. MacDonald said yesterday they want a general election which is no guide as to which they support.

Bridgeit Sun 16-Sept-18 14:25:13

Let’s call for a 2nd Referendum based on facts not emotion, then perhaps we can all settle down & not be at each other’s throats, presumably we all want the best for this Country & the more details we know , the clearer our decision will be..as it is each ‘side’ believes they know best, but no one knows, that is why it is such a mess, but from what I’m hearing, reading we are acting like Lemmings jumping off the White Cliffs of Dover waving a Union Jack ??

nigglynellie Sun 16-Sept-18 14:11:39

What others apart from you Grandad would that be?!!

Grandad1943 Sun 16-Sept-18 14:04:46

nigglynellie, why are you on the political section of the forum when you never seriously discuss anything political.

All you do is criticise others.

nigglynellie Sun 16-Sept-18 13:56:11

What insults are those Grandad? Wondering who you really are? Why you really get so worked up and are deeply unpleasant to annie? What your real reason is for being on a thread with a load of old grannies when you clearly lead an active intellectual life in the real world? Why you accuse people on here as being so stupid that you (?!!) wouldn't employ them, always supposing anyone would want his accolade!!! and so it goes on! Nothing insulting there that warrants a reprimand that is immediately obvious.

Grandad1943 Sun 16-Sept-18 13:43:10

nigglynellie, careful with your insulting posts, remember those guidelines. grin

nigglynellie Sun 16-Sept-18 13:24:32

Careful with your language Grandad, remember those guidelines!!

Grandad1943 Sun 16-Sept-18 13:10:14

As trisher points out there seem to be a number on this forum section that are not interested in real political debate but only in criticising others

Therefore I agree with trishrers comments and have concluded that there are more turds in this thread than ever was to be seen at the sewage plant yesterday.

trisher Sun 16-Sept-18 12:54:39

Nit-picking, nit-picking. Why can't someone post a political stance?
Of course criticism is allowed MawBroon but surely anyone who wants to be taken seriously, who believes in political debate would challenge and criticise opinions as well as making personal judgements.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 12:06:00

The same poster said Margaret Hodge was despised in the Labour Party, this is so not true.

Note- not ‘I think Margaret Hodge is despised or should be despised ‘ but IS despised

MawBroon Sun 16-Sept-18 11:55:28

Mawbroon the criticism was you. the name callers are others
blush Oops didn’t realise criticism is not allowed on GN.
A bit like what Grandad said about the LP then?
shut up whining or get out as I recall.

Weak argument trisher

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 11:19:09

Then I suggest that poster keep to a political level and not tell a party member they are despised, the party member wasn’t bovered though

trisher Sun 16-Sept-18 11:02:01

MawBroon the criticism was you. the name callers are others. Of course most of you will realise I actually share many of Grandad's ideas and beliefs. That doesn't mean that I approve of you thinking you are being preached at. But FGS if all you can come up with as a counter-argument is "You're patronising us, we do more than knit and make marmalade." It's a bit inadequate. I would love to see a real political rant from one of you saying what you do believe in and challenging Grandad's posts on a political level.

Anniebach Sun 16-Sept-18 10:19:57

How is a post on a political thread about going to work on sewage on a political level, or instructions how to drive a car and post at the same time on a political level?
