I have posted about policies and ideas I disagree with. Unfortunately none of those who claim to be "centred" have posted any ideas they agree with, just criticised mine as "far left"

We don’t know what you are trisher it’s a forum, you could be anything.You are correct that Conservatives can be rich or poor or something in the middle.As can Labour voters and also Lib Dem voters.
All we ever seem to hear on GN though are taunts of the class hatred/envy type.

Many have said I can't be socialist POGS because I am not working class. Others have said I'm a communist. There have been a lot of posts condemning "champagne socialists",. Not from us left wingers. Personally I make my judgements over what is believed and what is done, and the Tory party's record on both is unacceptable. Where the members come from I really don't care..

It is the continued rhetoric that the Conservatives /Tories don't have a clue how the other half live because they are posh , wealthy that is spouted by posters ' some' not all who occasionally come up with the ' Not me, I have never said that' .

Hence it is somehow deemed that only Labour know how the so-called other half live and the ensuing comment about being a Champagne Socialists.

It is a fact that as individuals we do not have to ' comply' with the perception of who/ what we should vote for because of the class we are from but it appears that we should do so because somebody else says/thinks we should as we keep getting told.

Annie if only you read and remembered my posts. There have always been poor Tories, there have always been working class Tories. I have many times posted about the most famous- Alf Garnett.

Annie I believe there are plenty of people struggling to make ends meet who vote Tory anyway so your situation could still be compatible with 'closet Tory'...

Whenever an individuals background/wealth/education is used in a manner that is purely for the purpose of making a derogatory or plain nasty comment about that person that is tantamount to 'Class Hatred".

It is disengenuous to imply any other.

Ian Bone is a perfect example of this and whether it be his scribings in his anarchist paper ' CLASS WAR' , ' BASH THE RICH' etc. etc. it cannot be denied there is still Class War/Class Hatred alive and kicking and it is getting worse with the rise of the Far Left .

The use of what has also become evident, dividing the young from the old, with the old ' Divide and Rule' principal coming from Politicians who know exactly what they are doing is also cementing Class Warfare /Hatred in the younger generation who soak up this kind of politics believing they will ' overthrow' the political structure.

The thing is if Ian Bone and his fellow travellers are called out for their Class Warfare / Class Hatred they enjoy it !

There have always been poor and working class Tories. And I have said many times I am not concerned with an individual's wealth or lack of it. I am concerned about values and beliefs and the influence they have had, and are having on our society. So JRM's views are completely unacceptable as far as I am concerned because he is not only old school Tory, and would (if he thought he could get away with it) cut state support to the absolute minimum, and privatise anything he could, he also has beliefs that cast a great many people into the role of sinner. Those who have had abortions and gay people for a start. Now he may not be able to drastically change the law but he almost certainly approves of the condemnation of these people, which for many of them only adds to the pain they experience.
Oh and he openly parades his children in a traumatic incident as a publicity stunt. And I am not approving Ian Bone's actions. He was wrong, but so was JRM who also pretends he is much wiser than the rest of us.

We have posts which claim the tories have no thought for the poorer in society.

I have always been honest when chatting on threads , I depend on pension credits, live in a one bedroomed council bungalow.

Widowed young I struggled as a one parent family, even took a temp job steaming fleas off animal fur. Yet I am called a closet Tory.

I'm not sure that I agree with you that 'class hatred' has gone; I think something exists though it might be better expressed as hatred of difference which can stem from a number of causes, such as envy, resentment or just fear of the unfamiliar (people might be able to find other causes to add to this list).

There's nothing wrong with being 'financially comfortable', GG. The problem occurs when it is coupled with denial that other people might not be in the same 'comfortable' position.

GrannyGravy - not at all. And it is possible to be middle-class and quite well off, and have empathy and concern for those who are suffering- really.

I think the ‘class hatred’ in its past form has gone, what we are now experiencing is inequality , which is more complex, family breakdowns, single living, single parenting, increase in care homes, more rules & regulations ( good & bad) further education for all, less social housing, less apprenticeships, etc
Lots of well off people help others, some do not.
Good councils who spend wisely, many who do not, corruption overlooked in some quarters ( not acknowledged as corruption) whilst some others may milk the benifits system , etcetc,
Ownership of mobile phones & computers is normal across the age/ financial spectrum.
I use to see pictures of starving children when I was a child, that same scenario still exists
There can never be true equality, but there can be a will to try & to fight for a better life for all.
