I doubt you know anyone in the forces oldbatty but I can’t be bothered to engage with you anymore at all.
Orchids and other lovely plants that don’t need a lot of attention
Rod Liddle took Labour to the cleaners on Question Time. I fully agree with his assessment.
“I really wish that the people who were taken in by [Labour] and agreed with that, would look to the left beyond the podium and see the rabble with their Palestinian flags and their lanyards sponsored by Hamas, would look to the raft of hypocrites on the Labour front bench. Thornberry, Abbott, Chakrabarti – all of whom don’t want you to send your kids to private schools or selective schools but do so for their kids, and for Corbyn and McDonnell, who have given support and succour to every possible hostile, violent, anti-democratic terrorist regime or organisation they can. IRA, Hamas, Hezbollah, Soviet Union, Cuba, Venezuela.
If you want people like that running your country, vote for Corbyn.”
I doubt you know anyone in the forces oldbatty but I can’t be bothered to engage with you anymore at all.
Forget it, you can’t take back your comment about a trained killer The damage is done no matter how much you backtrack.
I agree Maw and then to add something about their own son, to hold it up as what? Superior?
Works with refugees. As the armed forces do at times. Telling us he is gay is hardly of any import.
I don't disparage, I draw attention to the fact that the armed forces are just that....people who are trained to take arms if necessary.
Lemon, how do we decide when " killing is necessary" because lets face it, the UK has got it badly wrong many times.
You know absolutely nothing about me lemon, I have family in the forces. Again a very ill educated and rude response.
To me, to cast aspersions at other members’ families, to insult them and make snide remarks is the absolute antithesis of what Gransnet stands for.
I am not sure I want to associate with people who enjoy that level of undermining and frankly b*tchy insult..
‘Gay and works with refugees’ ........ so what?
Many of the ‘peaceloving’ brigade on the far left are disparaging of our armed forces, we have had this before on GN.Many times!
The forces offer a good life to their personnel, but yes, when we engage in wars and killing is necessary then they have to do it.They are not assassins oldbatty nor do they delight in deaths.
Any of us on here with family who have been in the services
Know a little more about it than left wing posters with nothing other than sentimental viewpoints.
Every mother should be able to be proud of her child. I am not making comparisons and I think it is wrong to disparage anybody for the career they have chosen and their dedication to doing the best they can.
I'm proud of my son, he's gay and he works with refugees.
no, no shame. Actually no, I wont accept that. Its a job , a career, they are not conscripts.
All this about learning trades and watching each others backs....yes because they may need to.
So don't tell me shame.
GrannyGravy, you must be very proud of your son.

GG13.....fine n dandy, but he is a trained killer? yes ?
A truly unkind comment to the mother of one of our services personnel, old batty
Shame on you.
So, Day6 democracy is only worth Carrying out when it coincides with your beliefs and thinking.
Well, that's typical of extreme right-wing thinking. If democracy does not suit do condemn it and do away with it.
I am not sure that any of the parties survive close scrutiny.
JC followers are being brainwashed that everyone and everything is failing or in crisis, well I feel sorry that you have such a distorted view of the UK.
I am proud to be a citizen of the UK and all it stands for.
I am turning of my iPad, opening a nice bottle of white wine and watching SCD, and I am making no apologies for doing so, wishing you all a very pleasant evening.
GG13.....fine n dandy, but he is a trained killer? yes?
Day6, the thinking of the constituency was not brexit, privatisation, free universities, just ‘ loyalty to Corbyn’
This is frightening
So you don't want to know about the service personnel who aren't so lucky GG13. You prefer to think everything is lovely. I would have thought the least you could do was to listen to their distress, but apparently you know better.
trisher my AC enlisted at 16, has done A levels, got a first class degree. Worked through the ranks from the lowest of the low to Officer level.
Has served in Afghanistan, Bosnia, the Gulf has been attached to the UN peace keeping forces in several African Countries, has been in the forces for 29 years, please do not have the audacity to tell me to read about our armed forces!!
I see one of their associates are The Quakers
GG13 if you think 16 year old from a disadvantaged background is able to take a decision to enlist I totally disagree. Perhaps you don't appreciate the pressures these children are under. And I haven't been in barracks thank goodness but I have read the accounts veterans enlisted at 16 have written, I have seen the figures for the injuries these children receive when they become 18 and are sent to fight. I have read about the devastating effect leaving the forces has on these people who are effectively still functioning as a 16 year olds. I really don't understand how anyone can support the recruitment of children. We are the only country in Europe to still do this.
I suggest you read the Forces Watch report and find out what is really happening
www.forceswatch.net/content/last-ambush
The thinking of this Labour MP is obviously not in line with the thinking of his constituency; therefore they have through democracy decided to deselect him
In your own words Grandad (above). Chilling. Quite frightening.
There is only one way to think in the Labour Party now. There is no room for discussion or individual dissent or complaint. Do it at your peril and endanger your political career.
We all know Momentum is grooming future Labour candidates and none of them will be in any way moderate. They will all be from the far left.
This is why so many moderates haven't been speaking out about anything recently. None of the old guard have spoken out to support Corbyn. We hear from Watson, Abbot, Thornberry and McDonnell, those surrounding Corbyn and backing him. Where are Harman and Cooper or any of those who backed Blair?
They are remaining silent or they choose the Chris Leslie path.
It says so much about the present day Labour Party. It is determined to become left wing and extreme.
It's quite terrifying. No wonder they are recruiting loud, angry young revolutionary types and losing older Labour supporters in droves. It's a strange sort of socialism.
They will certaintly fleece the working men and women
Not being the Tory party does not give labour a free pass. Sorry.
Labour cannot continue to claim to be decent simply by the default of not being the Tory party
Once again notanan2 you nailed it. You are absolutely right and it's what Labour supporters do, time and time again. It's quite funny really. That, and throw in mention of everything, absolutely everything, in Britain being broken. Corbyn of course will mend it all. Spend, spend, spend? Ahem.
Sadly, he and Abbot can't do sums, and they too, if they ever were elected to government (perish the thought) will have to BUDGET, just as the present government, and every government before it has had to do. Either that or fleece every single working man and woman to line their coffers.
they look out for each other because otherwise they would die.
