Anyone else disgusted by Young Tories at Plymouth University posing for pictures with one wearing a tee shirt inscribed with 'F*ck the NHS'. What is in their heads?

jura2 Sat 06-Oct-18 17:17:19

oh no, not an opinion at all, he is. Whereas the Conservative kids at the Conference were talking non-sense. Facts are not opinions.

They were talking about the need to limit immigration. He gave them a clear solution- they replied that that would be perfect. He told them it was existing EU Law that the UK CHOSE not to implement. No opinion there from Femi.

kittylester Sat 06-Oct-18 17:10:27

What an odd thing to say Jura. It is only your opinion that he is talking sense and is very well informed.

jura2 Sat 06-Oct-18 16:28:21

'Femi himself is not exactly from a deprived area or family.
His father is a doctor and Femi was educated at an independent, fee-paying school.'

the difference with Femi, is that he is talking sense and is very very well informed, ah.

Young, daft, possibly a bit drunk. As others say, we all did stupid things when younger.
Doubt they will be doing the same when they are 35, with a family and a mortgage.

Ilovecheese Thu 04-Oct-18 20:00:55

If some of their future employers see them on Facebook or similar, who is to say that those future employers might not also agree with the sentiment on the t shirt, and be more likely to give them a job, not less.

M0nica Thu 04-Oct-18 19:45:23

Quite a competition for the title of calling themselves 'The Nasty Party'.

Currently, despite this juvenile stupidity, I think my money is on Labour winning.

Chewbacca Thu 04-Oct-18 18:53:20

Inverted snobbery is as rampant on this thread as stupid acts are amongst young students. Both are unattractive.

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Oct-18 17:57:51

Femi himself is not exactly from a deprived area or family.
His father is a doctor and Femi was educated at an independent, fee-paying school.

I think 'plum in the mouth' was probably not his term.
He may have discussed the point about immigration with 'Young Tories' but equally could have discussed immigration control with those in the NE who vote Labour and for Brexit who hold similar views to the YT.

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Oct-18 17:51:33

Prejudice.
Seems to be rampant in the LP these days unfortunately.

Anniebach Thu 04-Oct-18 17:47:09

Some young tories with plums in their mouths

Dear God the hatred is pouring out, what is the matter with so many of you?

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Oct-18 17:40:12

Let's hope that the vile young Tories have their pictures all over social media, lurking in the ether until they reappear in years to come and bite them on the bum!
Unfortunately they may well do - which is quite sad because in a few years they may be horrified at what their young and daft selves were like.
Fortunately, most people our age can keep quiet about any youthful faux pas.

M0nica Thu 04-Oct-18 17:06:35

MaizieD Since when did university students echo everything that their parents said or told them? I changed my political beliefs within a few weeks of going to university.

And frankly I think your prejudiced and biased comments on other people in the Conservative party were uncalled for.

Just like the Labour Party the Conservatives have their extremists, but at present the Conservatives seem to be rather better at combating their right wingers than Labour does with its anti-Semitic members.

Anniebach Thu 04-Oct-18 16:56:39

Indeed Gill. , perish the thought

jura2 Thu 04-Oct-18 16:54:24

Did you see the video of Femi asking some young Tories with plums in their mouth about immigration control? And how they fell right into the trap. Yes, Femi said, what I described is EXACTLY EU REGULATIONS, that the UK CHOSE NOT to apply.

GillT57 Thu 04-Oct-18 16:39:11

No indeed Annie but at least our indiscretions were not recorded, thank god eh?

Anniebach Thu 04-Oct-18 16:35:56

I hope the pictures do not affect them when they are adults. the stupid things I did in my teens didn’t come back to bite me on the bum

GillT57 Thu 04-Oct-18 15:48:41

They are stupid and young as we all have been, but the difference is, our indiscretions were not preserved for all to see in the future. It would be interesting if any of their future employers checked their FB.

mcem Thu 04-Oct-18 15:41:55

Yes credit to her for a good speech.
The cynic in me asks just how many of these pledges will actually materialise!
Let's hope that the vile young Tories have their pictures all over social media, lurking in the ether until they reappear in years to come and bite them on the bum!

Day6 Thu 04-Oct-18 15:13:17

young people trying to shock and having no idea of the subject they are talking about.

Exactly sodapop. Attention-seeking idiots. I can imagine they have been scorned by their peers, of all political persuasions.

As Theresa May said in her conference speech,

The NHS is a service that is there for everyone; free at the point of use; with care based always on clinical need, never the ability to pay

These principles are in our country’s DNA.And Conservatives will always uphold them

Indeed, Conservatives have looked after our NHS for most of its life

And this year we gave the NHS a seventieth birthday present to be proud of: the biggest cash boost in its history

An extra £394 million every single week

And in return, the NHS will produce a new long-term plan to make sure every penny makes a difference on the front line

So, next time you hear someone say that the Tories don’t care about the NHS, tell them about that extra funding

Tell them about the Conservative MPs who work in the NHS in their spare time

Tell them about the Tory Prime Minister who can only do her job thanks to the wonderful staff of her local NHS trust, who help her manage her diabetes

Tell them about our Housing Secretary, James Brokenshire. Last year James officially opened the new Guy’s Cancer Centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in his constituency

A few months later he was a patient. The outstanding NHS care he received helped him recover, and now he is back serving in the Cabinet

Cancer can strike any of us at any time

Half of us will be diagnosed with cancer. All of us know someone who has been.

Survival rates are increasing, but we are lagging behind other countries.

So today I can announce a new Cancer Strategy, funded through our 70th birthday investment, will form a central part of our long-term plan for the NHS.

The key to boosting your chance of surviving cancer is early diagnosis. Five-year survival rates for bowel cancer are over 90% if caught early, but less than 10% if diagnosed late

Through our Cancer Strategy, we will increase the early detection rate from one-in-two today, to-three-in four by 2028.

We will do it by lowering the age at which we screen for bowel cancer from 60 to 50

By investing in the very latest scanners

And by building more Rapid Diagnostic Centres – one stop-shops that help people get treatment quicker

This will be a step-change in how we diagnose cancer

It will mean that by 2028, 55,000 more people will be alive five years after their diagnosis compared to today. Every life saved means precious extra years with friends and family

Well said TM.

It sounds to me like we have a Conservative government proud of our NHS and investing in it too.

Those silly young fools will hopefully grow up to appreciate their T shirt jape was not their finest hour.

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Oct-18 14:55:30

Maizie claims the young conservatives were echoing what their relatives think, ideas don’t come from nowhere
I thought many, if not most, young people took delight in rejecting their parents' beliefs and generally making idiots of themselves.

nigglynellie Thu 04-Oct-18 14:48:07

Yes, 'pretty vile and stupid'! Just like Momentum!!

Anniebach Thu 04-Oct-18 14:35:07

Because I chose to . Maizie claims the young conservatives were echoing what their relatives think, ideas don’t come from nowhere . Same can be said of Owen Jones

avalon123 Thu 04-Oct-18 14:22:27

This was NOT Owen Jones - why did you put that?

Anniebach Thu 04-Oct-18 14:16:56

Owen Jones , staunch supporter of Corbyn , his parents were members of the Trotskyist militant group.

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Oct-18 14:10:55

Very childish indeed and I expect they will cringe at these reports and photos of their younger selves when they do grow up.
