37 million packs of medicine per month come here from the EU.

It is in the interests of both the UK and the EU to come to an agreement - it is just as imperative as there could be an EU wide shortage of medicines sent to the EU from here.

Do not worry too much about insulin for your friend - we have a big manufacturer here in the UK which is stockpiling.
There is, however, a problem at present with the supply of Epi-pens and I presume your DGC's parents are aware of this as it has been widely broadcast:

I don't think it was said that jura is crazed Eloethan - goodness me! - just that the mitherings could be - a word which jura herself used in the OP.

A Midlands word I think, one that my DM used frequently when I was a child, as in 'Oh, stop mithering will you!' - ie 'stop pestering me'.

Calling someone crazed is very rude and implies that any opinions being expressed can be laughed at or ignored.

The facts about the accessibility of drugs and radiation therapy are straight from the Government's mouth - and is a REAL concern from those who require those drugs and treatment for their survival- it is hugely sad that you just don't seem to care- and put your venom before you.

If its scaremongering then blame the tory government who started the "rumour" about medical supplies !! Might mean theres no need for their minister for suicide if folk are dying due to lack of meds ,maybe thats the idea!!

One of the problems with the supply of meds is that pharmaceutical companies specialise in certain types of drugs - hence no U.K. company makes insulin. There are also a lot of fake drugs on the market so the source of drugs is very important.
The isotopes for radiotherapy machine only have a life of about 6 hours and if they have not been primed less than 3 days so speed of delivery is very important and makes supply from countries further away almost impossible. These are one of the imports which really cannot be delayed at all.

I imagine both Brexiters and Remainers have had enough of your crazed mitherings jura so no point engaging any more with you.

The current level of scaremongering on some threads is borderline hysteria.

We were told we would be doomed when we didn't join the euro, but years down the line isn't it true that we have the lowest level of unemployment across the EU, particularly in the under 25 age group. Look at Italian debt to the ECB along with Greece.

Medication is sourced from across the globe, as is our food.

I for one am not about to start panic buying food or hoarding my daily medication (yes I have what is classed as a life threatening illness) which in fact could cause shortages.

Maybe, all current scaremongering "news items" have one purpose only - namely to soften us for another referendum or an excuse for a very soft Brexit (thereby exiting the EU in name only and keeping everything else). If everybody is frightened enough, perhaps nobody will complain about the mess this will create for many years to come.

I am glad I will be able to get hold of Epipens for my grandson, who is highly anaphylactic to eggs. Not quite sure how I will get them over to him, as the Tunnel might close, the M26 will be a car park, ferries will be blocked, and no flights - but I will find a way. Better get some swimming practice.

I was told by a friend just yesterday that he discovered his elderly mum has been stockpiling her "meds just in case" she has also discovered where she can buy some of them online from abroad.Not what any 80 + person should have to worry about ,especially as she has some chronic illnesses that need daily multiple doses .

It seems we have such a healthy ageing community on GN- so healthy and fit that none of them are concerned that medicines and cancer treatment, will be in short, or no supply if we get a no Deal Brexit.

They don't sell them at Aldi btw.
