Having live in Menorca with Spanish residency, we now live in France, with French residency (not nationality). The biggest concern for me is my husband, who has Parkinsons , dementia and cancer ....there is no way he could travel back to the UK if we had to at midnight on March 29th if we no longer had the rights of residency. I am fortunate that I own a house in the UK and if he were fit, we could return (please note anyone else in the same position ...yippee we could get back our WFA (but only if you apply before the end of March 2019) just think...bus passes, cold weather payments, certain death for the elderly and infirm with no NHS when all the staff return to their country of origin, no care for the elderly ... these are the threats ! I actually read on a FRENCH forum yesterday a comment by one French woman to questions from ex pat Brits ....if you don't like it, GO HOME ....after all, isn't that what a lot of people living in the UK say about immigrants ! no difference there then ! the only thing I have to complain about is MAY's confirmation that EU citizens in the UK will, after registration, be entitled to live and work in the UK as they are now. There is no such reassurance for ex pat Brits in the EU ...we are saving the UK millions in WFA, other entitlements and benefits ...just imagine the riots in the streets if we all returned penniless ...better get a tent and a boat .....or claim asylum here in France (get a French passport, benfits (which NO 'foriegner' coming to France is immediately entitled to, unlike anyone entering the UK !) which is of course right ! We would be hard pushed, despite paying NI, taxes, etc in the all our working lives ...to be entitled to ANY help whatever ! when we are called out for leaving the UK in the first place, just remember the money we have saved the UK economy !
