Is today’s Brexit the same as we voted for in 2016.

I liked the question on social media this morning.

Simple question, is Brexit today the same Brexit put to the electorate at the referendum 2 years ago? Obviously millions of our electoral no longer believe so, in which case that vote is no longer valid.
We need a vote on what we are being offered in 2018 NOT what was promised in 2016.to confirm or reject Brexit

To be perfectly honest I'm both ashamed and disgusted that the majority of Liverpool people voted for Brexit when it was the EU that lifted the city out of the mire after it had been flattened in the ground and forgotten in the '80's. EU funding benefitted hugely in the city------airport, transport links, the Liverpool One shopping area, and other areas where funding was needed.

Gone will be any more funding and because Liverpool isn't exactly flowing with Conservative support they will not throw cash to the area where there's nothing to gain from it.
Workers rights will go if the union goes along with the standards and wellbeing of the workers.

Is anyone prepared to be at the mercy of this government with their Victorian standards of living/working and their MP's who couldn't give a toss about the ordinary man in the street-------as long as they're alright,Jack ?!

Well we are certainly living in interesting times - it’s apparently been agreed at a ‘technical’ level whatever that might mean. The one to ones this evening sound like fun - I guess she’s going to give each of them an ultimatum - you back this tomorrow at Cabinet or you resign now - there’s a computer over there to write your letter. I wonder if anyone will resign - maybe TM has really played a blinder - I hope so

BBC are reporting that the “Bexit deal text” has been agreed between UK and EU negotiators.

Looking forward to seeing it ????

Any humour on here, is, as Petra points out a counter balance to the quite ridiculous scenario being painted of soldiers being a danger to us, the general populace on the streets.

lemongrove Tue 13-Nov-18 15:57:08

I remember a few years ago on here, when a few of us mentioned an EU army other posters piling in and saying
‘no, what rubbish, the EU don’t want that!’ Oh, but they do!

NfkDumpling Tue 13-Nov-18 15:43:39

But the EU say we won’t need visas to go there - so evacuation won’t be a problem!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 13-Nov-18 15:29:21

It is being reported that Merkel has joined Macron in calling for an European Army - is that what those of you who voted remain want?

I definitely do not want this!

I can 100% assure you that my humour isn't false. It's a 100% belly laugh at the scenario you paint.
If, on the other hand you are correct with your scenario (and who knows) I look forward to our wonderful lads keeping me safe as we will be bringing the motohome back from Spain very close to the glorious day.

I think some remainers think that some of the scaremongering is rather extreme

But they don't say a lot because they will be called extream leavers

Grandad1943 Tue 13-Nov-18 13:24:40

petra, when leavers on the forum cannot answer straight forward questions put to them, false humour is then called for on their part.

Simple as that.

petra Tue 13-Nov-18 13:05:41

winterwhite
When posters start linking Afghanistan and Iraq in relation to troops on our streets i think a bit of light- heartedness is called for.

Grandad1943 Tue 13-Nov-18 13:03:58

winterwhite, It's just that the extream leavers on this forum have no answers to the very serious problems that this country now faces caused by the way they voted. Therefore they engage in posting false humour when they are asked questions such as the Northern Ireland situation and the possible use of the armed forces in the ports on Brexit.

I believe those posts just demonstrate how worried these leavers now are in truth regarding the situation they have created in Britain.

Now, back to work.

winterwhite Tue 13-Nov-18 12:22:38

I don't see the situation as funny at all and this thread has deviated far from the OP. No options are good options except for giving up the whole thing as an idea worth investigating carefully but found to be unworkable without the remedy being far worse than the disease. Jo Johnson is right.

petra Tue 13-Nov-18 11:34:06

Ooh, Jalima now your talking, especially if he's in his 'whites' yum yum wink

GrannyGravy13 Tue 13-Nov-18 11:12:37

I have always had a "liking" for a "fly boy" - so may I have a nice Airman outside my door please (apologise to AC) ?‍✈️?

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Nov-18 10:22:59

Does it have to be a soldier?
Can I have a nice sailor posted outside my front door please?

MarthaBeck Tue 13-Nov-18 10:18:57

Is it wrong to expect the truth to be placed before the electorate.? To infer that every electorate needed to do their research to ascertain the facts is beyond belief. Those extreme leavers in these columns seem to resort to every excuse to prevent a democratic people’s vote based on what Mrs May wants Parliament to agree on. What are they afraid of other than allowing far more of our young people now over 18 to have a say in what is being offered?

The next 60years arevgoing to be more important to young people, I am happy to give them a say in their future.
than most of us.

crystaltipps Tue 13-Nov-18 09:18:19

Who believed what’s that traitorous scumbag Cameron said? Rats + sinking ships springs to mind.

EllanVannin Tue 13-Nov-18 09:00:52

Strange how a family member who's in the forces was posted to Kenya last year for a 2 year stint there-----well it was cut short with a sudden sharp right about turn back to the UK last month. Reasons unknown ?? .
I understand that troops deployed in Kenya are there to prevent terrorism within Somalia. This is an important commitment between the UK and Kenya in the name of peace between countries.
Do we need them more in the UK ? Makes you think.

Grandad1943 Tue 13-Nov-18 08:54:26

Grannygravy13 Quote [Afghanistan and Iraq were wars] End Quote.

Yes Grannygravy13, followed by a civil control situation, which for our armed forces is where it all went wrong.

Anyway of to work, see you later.

NfkDumpling Tue 13-Nov-18 08:43:25

But we will be at war when we leave the EU - Mr Cameron said there would be war.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 13-Nov-18 08:24:56

Afghanistan and Iraq were wars!!!!

andycameron69 Tue 13-Nov-18 08:11:29

the uniforms are very fetching I think

Grandad1943 Tue 13-Nov-18 08:09:18

GrannyGravy13, in recent times we have put our troops into Iraq, was the country better when we pulled them out?

We also put our troops also into Afghanistan, was the country better when they pulled them out?

If we put our armed forces into the ports because of disruption due to brexit, will the situation be made better or become far worse for them being there?

I think this government should consider very carefully before deploying the armed forces to active duty on the ground in the United Kindom.

crystaltipps Tue 13-Nov-18 07:10:58

Shame they’ve been cut to record low levels and are stretched like our police.
