Oh, sorry, no Anniebach, I meant that my good wool coat got damp but is just fine, and even after last year when we the heavens opened at 11 am.

So there was no real need to wear a mac - I am sticking with the moths theory, and the fact that he is unsartorial.

no Trump is clearly not the only politician, he came to my mind because he has been in the news. His wife looks stunning ( most of the time) but I don't suppose she is happy.

The reason I ask is Aaron Bastanni, a regular Novara Media Corbyn / Momentum far left activist, has caused quite a stir over the wearing of the poppy and Rembrence Day.

Bastani also mocks the Invictus Games, an biennial athletic competition for armed forces veterans set up by Prince Harry, as a 'bizarre PR exercise' for the royal family.

Bastani / Novara Media speaks for Corbyn / Momentum and I have to say I know when he says: " We all know about the poppy appeal, it's a bit of a joke for people on the left, every November this happens." he does speak for some but most certainly I hope not for the majority who I think would be appalled to be associated that particular view.

I didn't actually notice what JC was wearing, I was just aware that he was there with a wreath.

The stylists got to JC when he became party leader - got him out of the ill-fitting beige jackets with no tie and into gravitas navy suits and a smart red tie. I guess that's why he was wearing a proper coat last year. They must have forgotten to check this year and he reverted to his normal sartorial inelegance.

Lets face it the man is, and always been a sartorial disaster area. This time he proudly dressed as a true man of the people.

How many good solid ordinary working class people living in tower blocks in the inner city, beset by problems of poverty can afford a cloth coat they would never otherwise wear. The surprise is that he wasn't wearing jeans.

All hail to the man who dressed as his principles dictated.

Just pray that someone so principled and cloth eared, mentally and physically, never ends up governing the country.

I don't suppose any of the people supposedly being honoured at the Cenotaph would give two hoots about what someone was wearing. They might however question, the policies that have led to children being homeless and left working people reliant on food banks, and judge the people wearing designer hats and coats responsible for implementing them.

I think he really doesn't care about his clothes, its not important to him.
The way a potential leader looks is important and he has advisors to tell him these things, does he ignore the advice? I think the older generation sets more store by appearances than younger people.

I have one of those little metal poppies I prefer it to the usual ones which fall out of the buttonhole. I also have a big crocheted one which I have on one of my coats. I don’t think the size of the poppy is an indication of anything. I am not a JC fan btw, but a couple of years ago at the Remembrance Day March he was one of the few who stayed right to the end applauding the veterans marchpast when other dignitaries had disappeared off to lunch. That did put him up a notch in my estimation . I don’t think his supporters will be bothered one iota by what coat he had on or the size of his poppy. Just something for the Tory press to latch onto - shock horror Corby. Has smaller poppy than May.

Ah, Carolina55but the Royals have been brought up to know and understand the protocols of these events and can afford the appropriate clothes so that if they dressed like Corbyn it would be a calculated insult.

TBH I could not care less what he wears, nor the royals. For me it is a total non-issue.

I do care as a Labour Party member what the leader of the labour does or doesn’t do.

Annie- the weather forecast was bad, but ok it didn't turn out as bad as it could. It poured with rain all day not far away at DD1, where they had to go out and clear road drains and put sandbags out.

Are we saying there is now a rule about the type of poppy one should wear? The service is about the dead soldiers not living politicians. Sad that folk are trying to stir up a hornets's nest over such trivia.
I see The Express is trying to suggest a snub to Duchess of Sussex as she was escorting the wife of the German guy laying a wreath. All bloody nonsense and a distraction from the purpose of the day.
If you do not like JCs policies that is one thing. But I think being sniffy about his choice of clothes is a bit petty. He appeared to be wearing a formal and sombre suit under his jacket.
