Harrumph!
I know appearance is not everything, but could Jeremy Corbyn not have found a more appropriate coat and tie?
Looks like a bit of a passive aggressive statement to me.

Given that we allegedly choose /wear clothes that reflect our personality/ personas, what do we think JCs choices say about him?

Jalima1108 Mon 12-Nov-18 19:25:53

Yes jalima I felt a bit weak too!
I did have to have a glass of vino, most unusual on a Monday evening.

However, it was left over from yesterday, so needed to be tidied up.

Anniebach Mon 12-Nov-18 19:04:40

He wore an overcoat in 2017. Suppose it could have been worse, he could have worn lycra shorts and rode down the Mall on his bicycle

I understand some people put great store by clothes / style. Some people prefer to look beyond the superficial.. As long as respect was intended and shown..it matters not a jot if done in excessively expensive clothing or high st store clothes. My hair always looks a bit crazy whether I am at a party, funeral or out shopping. It is part of me & I would hate to thonk.people thought my crazy hair was a sign of disrespect!

Well I won my bet with myself re this really important issue being aired. Pathetic

I'd say your defence of Corbyn speaks volumes.

His appearance was so 'pathetic' that the two friends I met for coffee this morning both broached the subject of his lack of effort - knowing he would be seen by millions who tuned in to watch the ceremony and the news programmes later.

I watched it yesterday morning with two other people. Before I could, they both mentioned Corbyn's red tie and grey, wishy-washy looking mac. He was making a statement - again.

His lack of support for the UK's defence and our forces is what is really pathetic (and worrying) to my mind, as is his backing of most terrorist groups which are enemies of this land. He appointed Seumas Milne, a terror apologist to a top advisory post. Milne has spoken in support of Hamas as well as Iraqi ‘resistance,’ is Labour communications director

Milne, a regular contributor to the Guardian newspaper, wrote in a 2004 article that Iraqi terrorists were the country’s true liberators and called their atrocities a “resistance war.”

We are all aware Corbyn has called Palestinian terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah “friends."

That this man leads the biggest opposition party to the government yet still feels the need to make a sartorial statement at a national memorial service smacks of school-boy/student rebellion.

That's what's truly pathetic maryeliza54

Tut, tut - lowering the tone!

Yes jalima I felt a bit weak too!

oldbatty Mon 12-Nov-18 18:37:39

Lordy, I misread the word wiles

Jalima1108 Mon 12-Nov-18 18:28:13

Poor Jezza.

Reading the threads on fashion, I realise I'm not very sartorial myself.

Jalima1108 Mon 12-Nov-18 18:26:56

He wasn't naked or in a bikini
I need a glass of wine after that thought shock

POGS Mon 12-Nov-18 18:17:23

Why would anybody care about Theresa Mays clothes, Boris Johnson , Trumps hair or Rees - Mogg?

They do though as copious threads on GN prove. confused

Luckygirl Mon 12-Nov-18 18:05:11

This is unbelievable! Why would anyone care what he wears? He wasn't naked or in a bikini - he just wore a coat for goodness sake! We are entitled not to like the coat (and indeed not to like him), but I cannot see how we can read anything negative into this.

The media pick people and things to pieces in their search for something to say - and to get more clicks on their sites (and thus advertising revenue). Let us not get sucked into their wiles.

Whatever the history of the poppy and the British Legion its activities and funding over the past years have cast a dark shadow over its existance.

oldbatty Mon 12-Nov-18 17:43:33

No that wasn't one of his good points.

MiniMoon Mon 12-Nov-18 17:43:24

Does this Bastani person know the history of the Poppy appeal or Earl Haig fund?
The first Poppy factory in London was set up with the aim of providing employment to disabled war veterans.
The Royal British Legion now helps disabled ex service personnel to find employment in their own area. They do a very good job, without shouting about it!
Going back to JC, I thought he looked scruffy, but even when he's wearing a suit he has a dishevelled air about him.

the weather was atrocious
Um no, must have been another London- the sun shone throughout and IMO it was not even particularly cold for November!

POGS Mon 12-Nov-18 17:29:47

Old batty

' I think Bastani makes some good points.'
-----

Well I did acknowledge he spoke for some :-

" I know when he says: " We all know about the poppy appeal, it's a bit of a joke for people on the left, every November this happens." ' he does speak for some but most certainly I hope not for the majority who I think would be appalled to be associated that particular view.'

POGS Mon 12-Nov-18 17:23:53

As for Corbyn's coat I have nothing much to say as I thought it suited him and his style and ' occasion / ceremonies ' are not something he seems to worry about . At least he wore a tie to this wreath laying ceremony .

I do find it amusing at the voices who appear annoyed there is a thread on the subject . They should read what is said about Theresa May, Trump, Boris Johnson and Rees Mogg's clothing habits and hair, perhaps they have even posted themselves.

oldbatty Mon 12-Nov-18 17:10:02

I think Bastani makes some good points.

I apologise I did not use your correct user name previously!

May I ask if you are willing to respond to my question @ 14.59 re your link to Novara Media?

PECS Mon 12-Nov-18 16:55:03

His poppy was a pin sold by the RBL.
Are we saying there is now a rule about the type of poppy one should wear? The service is about the dead soldiers not living politicians. Sad that folk are trying to stir up a hornets's nest over such trivia.
I see The Express is trying to suggest a snub to Duchess of Sussex as she was escorting the wife of the German guy laying a wreath. All bloody nonsense and a distraction from the purpose of the day.
If you do not like JCs policies that is one thing. But I think being sniffy about his choice of clothes is a bit petty. He appeared to be wearing a formal and sombre suit under his jacket.

jura2 Mon 12-Nov-18 16:40:30

Annie- the weather forecast was bad, but ok it didn't turn out as bad as it could. It poured with rain all day not far away at DD1, where they had to go out and clear road drains and put sandbags out.

As a trusted Labour Party member - I am sure JC would listen to your mumsy advice about his dress sense.

Give me a sincere man, who cares for peace rather than arms contracts, any day- even JC.

Anniebach Mon 12-Nov-18 16:34:29

I do care as a Labour Party member what the leader of the labour does or doesn’t do.

Luckygirl Mon 12-Nov-18 16:31:10

TBH I could not care less what he wears, nor the royals. For me it is a total non-issue. smile

Anniebach Mon 12-Nov-18 16:05:44

batty , you may be point scoring, I am discussing the thread title

Bridgeit Mon 12-Nov-18 15:52:08

Ummm., Imagine the vitriol TM would have been subjected to , she gets enough flak even when smartly dressed
