Theresa May will lose the vote on Tuesday.

Do you agree?

And then what will happen next........let’s see whose prediction is the closest. Perhaps let this thread run about 2 weeks and see who got it right, or nearly right.

Declare a winner just before Christmas.

Over to you ?

I'm with notanan2 - limbo .....limbo some more (who remembers that?), let's limbo some more.......how does it go after that?

pixie601 Sat 08-Dec-18 15:23:22

Please, please just take us out and give us back our country. Those MPs poncing about with their puffed up egos should get behind the PM to make the best of a bad job. As for a second referendum what would be the point - they didn't accept the result of the first one - best of three?, best of five?

blueskies Sat 08-Dec-18 15:23:06

I predict a False Flag before Christmas and Cobra meetings which will unleash huge waves of nationalism and patriotism. The evil Tories will hog the media and Brexit will be quietly shunted through under the radar and all will be over by Easter.

Norway's situation got a good airing on BBC Radio Scotland this morning and it involved freedom of movement and some of the other things so fiercely ruled out by Mrs May and the Tories early on.

However, Norway's deal with the EU does not cover fishing or farming. It all sounded quite reasonable until the person being interviewed was asked whether he thought Norway, Switzerland and the others in that particular group would welcome an alliance with the UK. The answer, on the grounds of economy size - we'd be large enough to push the others around - and general attitude to our current 27 partners, was that it is highly unlikely.

We have to understand we have brought this upon ourselves and we are digging an even deeper hole by the minute, helped by some tabloid newspapers who are pretty close to inciting violence with their "enemies of the people" and betrayal lies.

My prediction is that we are going to find ourselves supportless, friendless, poorer and at the mercy of rich people, carpet baggers and large corporations.

Needless to say, I hope I'm wrong.

All I can predict is that the Brexit deal will be rejected. Theresa May will be forced to resign.

Elegran . Well said. In a nutshell smile

123coco Sat 08-Dec-18 14:38:27

notonan2. . That’s rich calling Labour dogmatic when the C party has put us in the dangerous far right leaning place we are in now because of the stupid ideologues in the Conservative party . At least JC is dignified and answers questions and has NEVER attacked people personally! Cant people see how fascism is on the rampant rise in Europe again, hate crime on the rise! I for one have no qualms about a peaceful, united federal Europe especially against loony dangerous Trump, and China and Russia! Anyone who wants to be dependent on US as our nearest and dearest are quite simply a sandwich short of a picnic!

Elegran Sat 08-Dec-18 14:18:47

DotMH1901 As far as I can see they are not threatening anything, just holding the UK to their contract to pay an agreed amount toward some ongoing projects. In the business world, you can't just walk out of a contract without paying any outstanding debts.

Anything else is an automatic consequence of no long being a part of the group. If you get out, you can't expect the privileges of being in.

notanan2 Sat 08-Dec-18 14:15:15

What threats? It is the EU's job to protect the EUs interests, by voting leave we have decided that that doesnt include us, that was our choice not theirs, they are not bullying us by not representing OUR interests in leave negotiations because the point of leaving is that we dont want them looking out for our interests any more!

Elegran Sat 08-Dec-18 14:13:53

grandtanteJE65 Some legal person from a high EU court had said (nonbindingly) that it would be possible for the UK Brexit request to be withdrawn.

DotMH1901 Sat 08-Dec-18 14:12:10

I hope there will not be a second referendum - enough time has been wasted. Reminds me of playground bullies - are the EU really our friends? If so why are they taking the stance that a bully would in threatening people with this that and the other if we do leave? We voted to leave, that should be enough for an ADULT negotiation of terms, not threats.

starbird Sat 08-Dec-18 14:11:40

I think in two weeks time we might have a new Tory leader and Brexit negotiations will be ongoing - new Tory leader may take more than two weeks but I think is inevitable even if unfair.

Barleysugar Sat 08-Dec-18 14:07:31

I think we should all compromise go with the ‘ Norway ‘ option, which may hopefully suit remainders & non remainders .

Riverdaffyd Sat 08-Dec-18 14:06:05

I would like to predict ( although my Crystal ball is cloudy from lack of use) that someone who MP's respect and will listen to, if such a paragon exists; reminds that bunch of idiots that nobody in the country gives a flying fig about their opinion on anything ... they are just the mouthpiece of their electorate and should respect and reflect their views.

Chezabella Sat 08-Dec-18 13:46:25

grin Jalima!

BRedhead59 Sat 08-Dec-18 13:39:17

We always spend New Year with a group of six friends. We predict what will happen over the next year. I predicted May out and Corbyn in last year.
Now I think May will lose the vote on Tuesday and then resign before she's pushed. Chaos will follow and then most likely there will be an election, a hung parliament with the Liberals regaining many seats and possibly joining up with Labour. Who Knows. If there is a peoples vote I think there will be riots as in Paris. PS I voted REMAIN. Look how complicated it has got!

Jalima1108 Sat 08-Dec-18 13:38:57

Chezabella

Perhaps TM will wear a smart jacket, then, if she loses the vote will take off her jacket with a flourish and she'll be wearing a T-shirt saying

I Didn't Vote for Brexit!

Maru Sat 08-Dec-18 13:35:33

Completely agree with you, Niggly

Sheilasue Sat 08-Dec-18 13:18:20

I predict I will yell my head off if I hear anymore about
Brexit. I am sick to death of it.

grandtanteJE65 Sat 08-Dec-18 13:17:00

Why do you think you might remain in the EU? As far as I know that option has not been discussed in Brussels at all.

I wish the UK could stay in the EU, but I don't think that is at all possible. Am I missing something, here?

newnanny Sat 08-Dec-18 13:11:04

I think if there was another referendum it would depend on the question asked. We have already voted in or out but there could be referendum on May's deal or no deal and this would preserve democracy. I don't know of anyone who has actually changed their mind from first vote and all just seem more entrenched so if same question asked I think result would be roughly the same.

Jalima1108 Sat 08-Dec-18 13:08:37

Chezabella grin
Love it!!

newnanny Sat 08-Dec-18 13:08:04

I think Teresa May will lose vote but a very large number and the Conservative MP's will start sending in letters of no confidence unless she goes back to renegotiate a better deal with no backstop. If she either won;t go back to renegotiate or goes but does not get a better deal I think letters of no confidence and then she would lose that vote and a new Conservative leader would be a Brexiteer. Go back and renegotiate a Canada style deal with cooperation on security and no backstop. That is what I hope.

mcem Sat 08-Dec-18 13:07:17

Oooh chezabella I like that prospect!

Chezabella Sat 08-Dec-18 12:59:40

TM has kept her cool and been tenacious although she originally voted to remain . I predict on Tuesday that she will lose the vote, slam her fists down on the table, yell at the startled Westminster mob, “I never voted for the f*****g thing in the first place!” And storm out.
