Theresa May will lose the vote on Tuesday.

Do you agree?

And then what will happen next........let’s see whose prediction is the closest. Perhaps let this thread run about 2 weeks and see who got it right, or nearly right.

Declare a winner just before Christmas.

Over to you ?

Back to Basics,Strong and Stable,Brexit means Brexit,Britain First. It's a veritable pick and mix.

trisher Tue 11-Dec-18 10:54:24

notanan2 isn't that interesting I would say that there is a lot of name calling and condemnation of Corbyn and the LP on GN but no real analysis of what policies people dislike. Just as there is a lot of support expressed for TM and the CP but no admission that such support has led to the increase in homelessness and the use of food banks.
I think TM continues much in the same vein she always has done- "Strong and stable"but she wasn't. "This is the best deal we can get" although now apparently it isn't. I wouldn't trust the woman to go to the shops for a piece of cheese, god only knows what she would come back with!

Anja Tue 11-Dec-18 10:36:40

Just to be clear GG are you saying ‘Yes indeed’ to Britain First?

GabriellaG54 Tue 11-Dec-18 10:20:28

My 10:14 reply is to Anja

GabriellaG54 Tue 11-Dec-18 10:14:59

Yes indeed. The rest of the UK must make their feelings known, of course.
I'm all for being fair and above board but when other countries play games, it's extra hard to play a fair game yourself.
Y'know, voters can't have innumerable throws of the dice to get the result they want. 1 go and that's it. If you don't want or can't be bothered to vote and the result is not your preference, you must bite the bullet instead of trying to poison the army.
I love GB, but abhor the way some factions seem intent on destabilising the result, the government, and planting seeds weeds of doubt hither and thither.
If the boat is rocked too far, we will all suffer the consequences. No doubt about it.

notanan2 Tue 11-Dec-18 09:38:01

There is a huge amount of anti-Labour and anti-Corbyn propaganda

I think you are underestimating your fellow GNers. My poor opinion of Corbyn and Momentum is based on their own publications and their own social media accounts.

I also read a WIDE variety of press including overseas press, its actually the echo chamber tendancies of labour supporters that worries me, not the other way round

Davidhs Tue 11-Dec-18 09:14:27

TM is running this show, last minute cancellation and back to EU to get final final concessions. Vote next week for sure, it will be lost, she will make it clear that the "deal" is the only one available whoever is PM, send the whole rabble home for Christmas to think about it.
New Year. The reality is that nobody wants to challenge her and loose, there is no apetite in the Tory party to take on the poison chalice, nor for Corbyn to press a vote of no confidence.
If she wins a no confidence vote she cannot be challenged for a year. There was a lot of backing for a second referendum in parliament and to break the deadlock it seems a good bet.

TM is a tough as old boots and clever too, Thatcher MK2, not yet she hasn't declared war on anyone!

loopyloo Tue 11-Dec-18 08:01:11

With you, GG.

sluttygran Tue 11-Dec-18 07:53:42

Well said Maizie D
There is a huge amount of anti-Labour and anti-Corbyn propaganda in the press because Murdoch and his buddies stand liable to pay their tax dues like the rest of us under a Labour administration.
I urge their readers to dig a little deeper and find out what’s really going on.
I have lived through governments of all political shades, and they’ve mostly done a reasonable job, but this present bunch of Tory sociopaths are beyond belief.

MaizieD Tue 11-Dec-18 01:29:59

They see them as that because most newspapers and all tories tell them that Labour is Marxist/ Communist.

Surveys in the past have found that the majority of people support Labour policies so long as they don't know that they are Labour policies yet the LP is reviled and feared. hmm

sluttygran Tue 11-Dec-18 01:18:41

Why do so many people see Labour as Marxist/Communist? They are nothing of the kind.
I would be genuinely interested to hear which of their policies are being perceived as Marxist!

Grandad1943 Mon 10-Dec-18 21:40:33

The leavers called the remain campaign warnings on Brexit "project fear." I would call GGs and others with her view of the "benefits" of a hard Brexit, "project pie in the sky".

Just write off the threat to many thousands of jobs and whole industries as nothing.

Reminds me of Magie Thacher stating in regard to the mass unemployment she created as "a price worth paying".

nigglynellie Mon 10-Dec-18 20:26:15

She wouldn't have signed the treaty of Maastricht, so we wouldn't have been in this position anyway. Apparently John Major has reservations, but signed anyway.

MaizieD Mon 10-Dec-18 19:50:24

a strong leader (like Maggie)

Maggie would think you're all bonkers! She knew exactly where the UK's interests lay.... in Europe.

EllanVannin Mon 10-Dec-18 19:49:20

We wouldn't have all this garbage if everyone had done their homework and voted remain. It surprised me greatly.

Anja Mon 10-Dec-18 19:45:26

England first then GG? ????

oldbatty Mon 10-Dec-18 19:32:24

Yes, I agree, great ideas here.

GabriellaG54 Mon 10-Dec-18 19:21:12

Liebour would never get a toe hold where I live. Blue to the core and very closed minded. I don't think that's necessarily a good thing although I would never vote Liebour. I, on the other hand, voted leave but wish there was a strong leader (like Maggie) to get us out. Bulldoze through the ditherers and get us a hard Brexit and deal with any consequences. UK laws, UK waters (no French or Spanish fishing rights) tight borders, 5k max immigration for essential services and must speak and read English to a good standard etc. We can do it.

EllanVannin Mon 10-Dec-18 19:14:43

The way Conservatives have gone will create a lot of tactical voting so your wish for a Labour government could come true sluttygran. Lord help us ! A Marxist government, just what I've always wanted sad

sluttygran Mon 10-Dec-18 19:02:31

I do hope we have a General Election soon, and I very much hope we shall see a Labour Government.
So many people have told me they absolutely couldn’t vote for Jeremy Corbyn but are unable to give a cogent reason why they dislike him, other than that ‘He’s a Communist!’
Having read the Labour manifesto, I see none of the undesirable signs of Communism, so Labour will get my vote.
Having said that, it’s a bit like flogging a dead horse in this area, as I live in a true-blue Tory stronghold!

oldbatty Mon 10-Dec-18 19:01:52

yeah sit back and enjoy ( if you have a house and heating and food)

lemongrove Mon 10-Dec-18 19:00:16

I predict.... we can all sit back and enjoy Christmas, as nothing will be sorted before then.tchsmile

EllanVannin Mon 10-Dec-18 18:48:23

General Election March 2019.

Anja Mon 10-Dec-18 18:39:12

I’ve decided that the reason Theresa May has pulled the vote is that she doesn’t want to have to move out of No.10 until after Christmas.

It’s taken her hours to put the decorations up and the turkey she’s ordered is too big for her own oven.

Jalima1108 Mon 10-Dec-18 17:53:02

You win the tins of beans then loopyloo

You can eat them now and not stockpile them.
