A leadership contest!

So now Mrs May is going to face a vote of no confidence! I find it difficult to believe that a political party would take this action at this time! She’s done well with this poisoned chalice and who could do better than she has?

Parliament has reached an impasse and is split just like the country.

This to my mind is a national emergency and maybe it’s time for a wartime style cabinet so that some consensus could be reached about the way forward.

What a mess!

Grandad just enter Labour Party vote of no confidence June 2016 in your search engine, it comes up immediately.

EllanVannin Thu 13-Dec-18 17:19:36

Day6 we NEED the EU !! Okay so it costs. So what ? So does foreign aid, only more !

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Dec-18 17:17:41

As a conservative I was deeply disappointed that those two MP’s had the whip restored in order for them to be able to vote.

Grandad1943 Thu 13-Dec-18 17:17:25

Anniebach, again I ask, can this forum see links to your above allegations as I cannot remember a vote of no confidence being brought forward in regard to Jeremy Corbyns leadership on the Labour party since he took up that office?

I stand to be corrected if the above is in error

maryeliza54 Thu 13-Dec-18 17:13:01

Ah Jess Philips - that would be the Jess Philips that tore into the Tories (quite rightly) yesterday for restoring the whip to two Tory MPs so they could vote in the confidence election. Both suspended for for sexual misconduct issues which are still under investigation - still as long as they arent Corbyn supporters eh annie?

Anniebach Thu 13-Dec-18 17:03:19

It is impossible to know, think, guess , what others may assume or interpret

janeainsworth Thu 13-Dec-18 17:00:17

No annie I agree.
But it’s your responsibility express yourself clearly and to think about how others might interpret your cryptic remarks.

Anniebach Thu 13-Dec-18 16:58:17

janeainsworth I cannot be held responsible for how you choose to interpret a post.

janeainsworth Thu 13-Dec-18 16:42:56

Grannygravy a better word might be ‘trivialising’. I think it is trivialising rape to use it in a sly dig, which is how I interpreted ab’s comment.
No one has implied anyone lied about receiving rape or death threats - why do you make that suggestion ab?

Anniebach Thu 13-Dec-18 16:37:34

Seems the Corbyn supporters here didn’t know police were called in to investigate the claims of rape.

Sarah Champion, Jess Phillips and others lied ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Dec-18 16:22:09

Lisagran, discussing or mentioning rape or assault does nothing to normalise these things. What it does do is bring it out into the open, so that the victims are not further victimised / traumatised due to feeling unable to report it.

lemongrove Thu 13-Dec-18 16:16:33

Indeed.

mcem Thu 13-Dec-18 16:12:41

Faux outrage indeed!

lemongrove Thu 13-Dec-18 16:10:43

Since Anniebach has explained her comment then to go on commenting ‘how appalled’ ( faux outrage) is just silly.
I can well imagine that female MP’s were targeted in that awful way when they voted no confidence in Corbyn.
Female MP’s have to deal with that kind of thing a lot, letters, emails, online etc.Just awful.

maryeliza54 Thu 13-Dec-18 16:01:43

You used a serious issue that affects many women in public life in a totally inappropriate way to make a cheap anti Corbyn comment. It was unnecessary insensitive and appalling

Grandad1943 Thu 13-Dec-18 16:00:56

Anniebach Quote [Labour female MP’s received threats of rape when they voted no confidence in Corbyn. Fact] End Quote

Anniebach, can you post a link(s) to your above allegations

Anniebach Thu 13-Dec-18 15:56:54

1. Labour female MP’s received threats of rape when they voted no confidence in Corbyn. Fact

The Corbyn hit list was published. Fact

2. I asked a question, ‘ Will Mrs May have a hit list. Will female MP’s who voted against her be threatened with rape?

Anniebach Thu 13-Dec-18 15:47:23

Unbelievable, no female MP’s have been threatened with rape and to say they have is ‘insensitive, appalling and completely inappropriate ‘ .

I am use to it Nicenanny

maryeliza54 Thu 13-Dec-18 15:36:36

It’s not the facts of the threats it’s the way abs post used the fact to try to imply something. And nice what’s your definition of bullying - putting forward a well reasoned fact based argument?

Lisagran Thu 13-Dec-18 15:35:48

I know GrannyGravy13, but I still think putting it out there in a comment is normalising it - just, in my opinion, not appropriate. If it’s later reported that there were such threats, then one could comment on that - but to speculate on the possibility seems distasteful and unnecessary ( in my opinion)

janeainsworth Thu 13-Dec-18 15:33:40

Ganging

janeainsworth Thu 13-Dec-18 15:33:22

Commenting on posts and asking posters to clarify their meaning isn’t bullying or hanging up, nicenanny.

Nicenanny3 Thu 13-Dec-18 15:30:53

Take no notice Anniebach, actually I thought bullying and ganging up on a poster was not allowed on GN.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Dec-18 15:26:10

In reply to Lisagran

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Dec-18 15:25:43

As do the female MP’s and party activists who have received these and other forms of odious threats.

It is not acceptable but it has happened over this year and I fear will continue to occur in this dississive political atmosphere.
