So now who's "stupid"?

Anyone with a brain cell can see for themselves that he said "stupid woman". I would have had a little bit of respect if he had owned up and apologised, but he's just blatantly lied at the ballot box. Who looks stupid now?

So the next time a female MP mentions mysogyny, patronising comments etc. in Parliament or MP's debate the attitude in Parliament re female patronisation etc. they are wasting their time because there are bigger problems to worry about. In other words ' Get over it'. That is how I read some posters comments.

So the next time an MP uses patronising language it should just be accepted?

A Pandoras Box could be opened and that is why Parliament has a code of conduct and etiquette to keep things in check. It fails miserably at the moment and the Speaker has a hell of a lot to answer for.

What would this message be sending to woman who are already being put off becoming politicians because the attitude towards female MP's ?

Almost 600 homeless people died last year and we're exercised about who said what to whom, in the pantomime that is being played out in the HoP by our elected leaders. I don't condone Corbyn if that's what he said, but am heartily sick of the Brexit fog engulfing everything when there are other neglected and serious issues to deal with in the country.

Maizie d

Is your Tory calling Yvette Cooper a ' stupid bitch' the old one about David Mundell who I believe was exhonorated as he said ' Leadership Pitch'?

I think had this indeed been what he said Labour would have taken the matter further and quite rightly so.

Agreed there was a similar controversy at the time but Mundell inststs he said ' Leadership Pitch' and I believe that was the opinion of lip readers at the time.

MaizieD - It's not at all obvious what he said.

Ha, ha, ha ha.....To all but the hard left maybe?

Day6 Thu 20-Dec-18 17:56:17

It's perfectly obvious from the many clips available to see that he IS saying "stupid woman". Nasty.

Hates being got the better of by a woman, maybe?

No more Mr Nice Guy - if he ever was.

nigglynellie Thu 20-Dec-18 17:48:25

If J.C didn't say stupid woman, then why did he scuttle off out of the chamber when he was accused?! Surely he would have denied it there and then and immediately told colleagues what he DID say! Running off presumably for some advice as to how he could wriggle out of this situation made him look foolish, guilty and eventually a liar!! What an idiot!!!

Didn't know that GrannyGravy, thanks for the info, reinforces my point above.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 17:10:30

Maizie, all I saw were the Twitter comments , no video,

MaizieD Thu 20-Dec-18 17:06:38

The link I provided gave a repeating video of the man saying what he did. Very clearly. Perhaps you could ask your daughter to judge it, Annie

(The comments are irrelevant; it was the only way I could put the video on here)

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Dec-18 17:06:27

So true Opal, we are a successful country.

The UK has just been voted No,1 for business by Forbes magazine for the second year running.

Opal Thu 20-Dec-18 16:49:36

No our country is not well and truly lost, it's a wonderful place to live and I am very proud of all the truly amazing things that we achieve. The trouble is that all we read about in the Press is negative and scaremongering, when do we ever hear about positive news and achievements, of which there are many every day. The Press have a lot to answer for, and are the main culprits responsible for the negative spin that seems to prevail in society a lot of the time.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 16:45:56

Expert lip readers are divided ? I will accept Evelyn Glennie’s decision plus my younger daughter , a small number of expert lip readers have thought not, the majority have said yes.

Maizie the link you provided only gave twitter comments, but you hsve just stated Yvette was called a bitch, were you within earshot ? You wouldn’t rush in and say it was said unless you were 100% certain would you ?

Nicenanny3 Thu 20-Dec-18 16:44:42

Lol ?

lemongrove Thu 20-Dec-18 16:36:59

....an amalgamation of both I think nicenanny ?

Nicenanny3 Thu 20-Dec-18 16:34:49

MaizieD are you really Mrs Corbyn or Diane Abbott ?

MaizieD Thu 20-Dec-18 16:30:08

I'll know for sure that our wonderful country is well and truly lost

Our country is well and truly lost already.

oldbatty Thu 20-Dec-18 16:29:37

He will be hiding out in the allotments right about now

How is this in any shape or form a helpful or interesting comment please?

Just so we are clear I am not a fan of Corbyn or May or.....

Our wonderful country is rotten to the core, unless you are loaded of course.

MaizieD Thu 20-Dec-18 16:27:52

As I've said, Opal. Expert lip readers are divided as to what he said. I'm not rushing to judge where there is uncertainty.

Opal Thu 20-Dec-18 16:24:30

No it's not OK for ANYONE to do it, MaizieD, hence my original post. But how anyone can look at the clip and deny he said "woman", well either they need to go to Specsavers or they are lying through their teeth, same as Corbyn. God forbid he ever becomes Prime Minister, then I'll know for sure that our wonderful country is well and truly lost.

Nonnie Thu 20-Dec-18 16:23:46

Oh on just this subject can we stick to the point? It is about what JC mouthed, not what anyone else said on some previous occasion and it is not about TM either. It is about someone who is supposed to behave like a leader and even a potential PM. Anything else is completely irrelevant apart from the way the Speaker failed to deal with it. IMO he goes too far left in trying to show he is balanced.

lemongrove Thu 20-Dec-18 16:12:51

He will be hiding out in the allotments right about now.

lemongrove Thu 20-Dec-18 16:12:25

It’s not ‘alright’ for anyone to do it, but especially not alright for the leader of the opposition to say it to a female PM.
Annie there are a few posters who would say say Corbyn was innocent of any wrongdoing at all on GN.He’s a perfect saint dontcha know! grin

MaizieD Thu 20-Dec-18 16:05:43

Oh, FGS, Annie. Stop making stupid assumptions.

So it's OK for the honourable gentleman on the opposite benches to call Yvette Cooper a bitch?
