Re Philip, photos has just appeared in various newspapers online showing him driving his new Range Rover which was delivered yesterday, on a public road - unaccompanied - and without a seat belt!! I'm speechless!
Someone further back wondered if he might have dementia, and it is occurring to me now too.
Granless Am I allowed to reply or am I still on the naughty step, I wonder? Would you care to join me?
Well, I'll risk it ..... I belong to a library in South Gloucestershire. All the branches share the books so it doesn't matter which branch. I have read the info re John Morgan's books and as they seem to be full of factual documents, I'm not sure how anyone could gainsay them ... and certainly couldn't if they haven't checked out the docs for themselves. Thank you for mentioning this.
Anniebach - Ok, I’ve opened a can of worms here but I do think starting with one topic which feeds into another is no bad thing - healthy I would say - but I take your point. Facts are facts - maybe you should read the book/s and then comment. Why hasn’t John Morgan been sued for slander??? Sparklefizz - well done your library having some volumes. My library was supposed to have searched high and low for the other volumes and came up with none. Can you say which library you belong to? If not that’s ok. I’m a fact reader and am thoroughly engrossed in the Diana Inquest. Yes, it can be hard going, at times and I still can’t put the book down.
*Anniebach" There was no coverup at Diana’s inquest but writing books claiming there was is a good money maker . It should be discussed on another thread surely.
Yes, it probably should be discussed on another thread, but while we're here, how do you categorically know that there was no cover-up at Diana's inquest?
Granless I have just checked it out on Amazon and was a bit overwhelmed to see how many volumes there are, plus a number of critical reviews saying the reading is heavy-going. I appreciate that one person's "heavy-going" is not another's .... what do you think of it?
Sparklefizz. I found Part 3 in the library which I read first. On enquiring about the others Parts, the librarian said that they weren’t available! Part 3 now seems to have ‘disappeared’ just like a lot of the documentation to do with Diana’s death. The volumes are a big read - 700+ pages in Part 4 - The British Cover-Up.
MawBroon and Sparklefizz - you should read by John Morgan: Diana Inquest - The Untold Story. He quotes facts, from actual statements and the inquest. Big cover up comes to mind. I’m on Part 4 which is about Diana’s autopsy/embalming.
New car for Phillip. I’m sure there will be a new one sent to the other people affected, not holding my breath . Of course this might put his insurance up and the expense may make him give up driving.
I quite agree, he shouldn't be driving (except maybe on his estate if he insists). The other people plus baby, could have been seriously injured, one has a broken arm, but thank goodness it wasn't more serious. I see he has immediatly had a new land rover delivered!
Retest to switch to automatic 5 yearly hazard perception/highway test (or black box driving every 5 yrs) with referral for full retest if failed for everyone
IMO the above would filter out the bad elderly drivers and allow the good ones to continue. Would also scoop up some bad younger drivers.
Imo the big issue with elderly drivers isnt that they are elderly, it is that some elderly drivers when they start to find manual driving hard, rather than give up driving they switch to automatics because of the perception that they are easier.
Automatic driving is a different skill and are dangerous in the hands of someone who just thinks its like manual but easier
All of the "car through shop/house front window" episodes local to me where elderly drivers who had switched to automatic.
You should have a separate test for automatic driving, and not be qualified by default of having a manual licence.
It's being reported online now that Philip nearly ran a woman driver off the road when he first left the Sandringham estate, minutes before he actually hit the Kia and crashed.
