Pythagorus Wed 27-Mar-19 21:29:55

Varian ..... it ain’t going to happen!

varian Wed 27-Mar-19 17:04:21

The people were cheated by a fraudulent referendum. It is not up to Mrs May. It is up to parliament to do what is right - either Revoke Article 50 or hold a People's Vote.

Pythagorus Wed 27-Mar-19 16:58:54

I say again. The people have had their vote ..... the result was Leave. So we are leaving. How were we ever going to get a good deal when we said ‘We are leaving, what will you give us?’ Where is the negotiating lever? So whether it is a no deal or the PMs deal, we are leaving. People can march, rabble rouse or do the fandango , it won’t change a thing.

Urmstongran Wed 27-Mar-19 16:55:39

Out it is then.
Mrs May will not countenance a second referendum.
Her deal won’t pass.

suzied Wed 27-Mar-19 16:52:53

They must be sick of seeing May ( almost as much as we are who live here)

MargaretX Wed 27-Mar-19 16:47:59

Saw on German TV. The EU will not accept any decision not made by May and her government. Either it is Mrs May's Deal or another refrerendum or OUT.

They have had enough

We might find out what a pro-brexit march looks like on Friday when leave supporters have been urged to join (farage's) march in Parliament Square for a "massive rally"

However few turn up we will no doubt be told that it was massive, tremendously massive, a far bigger number than last Saturday's pro-EU march. (just like there were mere folk at Trump's inauguration than Obama's).

If you think that most leave voters can't read between the lines of your post @15.22, you couldn't be more wrong.
Of course you had to couch your words in such a way otherwise it would be deleted.

jura2 Mon 25-Mar-19 17:48:20

eazybee, I stand by my words.

varian Mon 25-Mar-19 17:47:16

Theresa May has just pulled her third attempt at getting support for her WA.

Let us hope that the "indicative votes" include Revoke Article 50 (my first choice) and a People's Vote (my second choice).

I do know that other options could be tested but at least the HOC is likely to have its say, about three years too late, but better late than never.

Crystaltipps; as I mentioned somewhere else (possibly on this thread) Farage was in Anna Soubrys constituency on Saturday; somewhere he wouldn't dare be if she was there. Spreading his hate and vitriol in a place where she has been receiving death threats on a regular basis. The man disgusts me...

Nonnie Mon 25-Mar-19 15:38:23

I would have been on the march if I had been able to. I support it.

Anyone else think it ironic that TM wants to have a third vote on the same thing but won't allow us to have a vote on something totally different to the one in 2016? Sorry if this has been said before, been too busy to come on gn recently.

crystaltipps Mon 25-Mar-19 15:37:58

Like the disgusting Breaking Point poster of Syrian Refugees Nigel Farage stood gurning in front of?

Nonnie Mon 25-Mar-19 15:36:29

Blencartha I understand what you mean by--Anyone can have internet access- if you haven’t and want to sign simply go to the library or ask a friend or family member.-- but of course if they are not on the Internet they may well not know about the petition. There could be many reasons why people are not on the Internet and some of them could also be a reason they cannot go to the library. Also I know many people who avoid social media so it is not quite to simple.

eazybee Mon 25-Mar-19 15:28:28

Jura:Yes, i know, many leavers are NOT racist- but can you imagine what the placards would have looked like from too many
Insulting insinuations here, without any evidence; based on very unpleasant supposition. I suggest that you remove it.

jura2 Mon 25-Mar-19 15:22:51

I know that Leavers here truly resent the way they are portrayed- and of course we all know that they come from all walks of life and persuasions - but really, can you imagine a Leave march with 1 million + happening without 'incidents' and worse. Yes, i know, many leavers are NOT racist- but can you imagine what the placards would have looked like from too many (yes, I know, not YOU ... but so many, far too many).

jura2 Mon 25-Mar-19 15:20:20

Yes, fabulous speech. Watching all the photos of the amazingly imaginative, creative placards for the march - remind me so much of the true British humour I so loved and still love from the UK - all very moving. When you see 1 million and probably a lot more, marching without a single incident, not one - laughing, singing, enthusiastically shouting, but without any agro - it is so amazing. I was so so moved by it all, and so wished I could have been there with them. Proud of the best of British <3

trisher Mon 25-Mar-19 09:58:45

I have just listened to Michael Heseltine's speech. Can't say I have ever liked his politics but it was an amazing and moving speech. If you have time do listen www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8oWrF2CXF8

MaizieD Mon 25-Mar-19 09:54:10

I was representing 25 people who couldn't be there, their names were on my flag. And I know a lot of Remainers who I didn't ask if they wanted to be represented.

Tip of the iceberg indeed...

Blencathra Mon 25-Mar-19 09:38:32

When I marched on Saturday I was representing 44 people who couldn’t be there - I had the number on my placard. Most people would have been similar. The march was the tip of the iceberg.

varian Mon 25-Mar-19 08:01:24

In 2003 a million people marched in London to stop the involvement of the UK in the Iraq war. They were ignored by Tony Blair and his government. Just consider how our history could have been changed for the better if these marchers had not been ignored.

On Saturday even more people marched. If our politicians chose to ignore them, they will bear a heavy responsibilith for the damage which failing to stop brexit will cause.

Blencathra Mon 25-Mar-19 07:10:33

I have come to this a bit late but there were more coaches than that - I don’t know why ours is missing from the list when it was booked ages in advance. It was a fantastic day - peaceful and friendly.
Laughing at the idea that 61million haven’t signed the petition! There are strict rules for who can sign it.
Anyone can have internet access- if you haven’t and want to sign simply go to the library or ask a friend or family member.
Over 5.3 million in a few days is amazing! No other petition has done that.

paddyann Mon 25-Mar-19 01:19:37

How many dont have internet access so they can sign it? I sawa post on FB earlier where a brexiteer sneerinly said that 5 million was nothing when 52million had voted leave???
No idea where he got his information from but he was very rude when taken to task about it.

MaizieD Sun 24-Mar-19 21:35:44

And some of that 61 million that haven't are too young to even be able to read yet, let alone sign petitions. grin

crystaltipps Sun 24-Mar-19 21:22:24

50 million of the population didn’t vote for Brexit
