Misreading the country?

Several polls I noticed yesterday still had the Conservatives 10% above the Labour Party.

Given that both parties are totally shambolic, I think the last thing that is needed is a general election, foremost these numpties need to elect new party leaders who can and will lead this country!!!

The Labour Party should put the country before their thirst for power.

And a general election would tell TM to get stuffed!
Some say determined, I say cussed.
Unfortunately because we are enduring such utter chaos the timing couldn't be worse.

Jane I agree with what you’ve said but do you think that the majority of people would accept May’s deal with an extension? I’m aware of many people who say they would be happy with no deal and the cliff edge.

Oh Monica I so agree, I find myself shouting at the radio/tv every time I hear ‘the will of the people’ it was only ever the will of some of the people, a tiny majority and on something as massively important as this there will NEVER NEVER be a good solution whichever way it eventually goes

The country is completely divided and completely ‘effed’ whatever happenes now I cry for my grandkids future and if I was younger I d be up and away and if that’s what they need to do I ll wish them the very best of luck Every one of my seven grandkids have duel citenship for a variety of reason in two familie cases their Dads birthplace and in one family their own birth place so at least they will all have choices thankfully

Steve Baker and Nick Boles - the two MPs.

I share your exasperation Monica. Two Tory politicians on Radio 4 right now; all they're talking about is the various deals which could bring their party together to agree some sort of Brexit. All about them!

Jane10 Wed 13-Mar-19 08:24:23

Am with you there M0nica! Theresa should tell them all to get stuffed. I don't know how she stands it.

M0nica Wed 13-Mar-19 08:17:20

I just wish they would stop talking about the will of the British people when it is the will of just over half of the British people.

Beyond that I am past caring. I do not give a toss about what is happening about Brexit, in Parliament or anything else. What ever the decision it will be a disaster because our politicians are such a bunch of incompetents. To use a well known phrase I wouldn't trust them to run a p*ss-up in a brewery.

Exactly!

Jane10 Wed 13-Mar-19 07:52:07

Just take the deal on offer and work through the consequences. The current potentially extended uncertainty will have a very negative effect on the economy.

Lazigirl Wed 13-Mar-19 07:44:19

Unfortunately the great British public is equally as split, and no one knows what just getting on with it will mean, as maryliza says.

maryeliza54 Wed 13-Mar-19 07:21:17

But get on with what? That’s the problem. The situation we are in is unprecedented. We shouldn’t be in it but we are.

dragonfly46 Wed 13-Mar-19 07:14:00

Unfortunately it would seem the MPs have become very inward looking and self serving. They have forgotten who put them there and indeed why they are there.

Jane10 Wed 13-Mar-19 07:01:27

It seems to me from talking to others and just listening in on conversations on buses and in shops etc that there is an overwhelming feeling that Westminster should just get on with it! This isn't a brexit/remainer thread. It's just expressing concern that Westminster is in its own little mixed up bubble and is just ignoring the people they're supposed to represent ie the great British public.
