Hi everyone -

If you are at all politically minded and would like to share any GOOD NEWS about Brexit, or would just like to post some optimistic thoughts - this is the thread to love.
❤️

Most of us are weary of the gloom and doom on GN! Let’s share positive news and views. Its time to look for compromise, be kind and inclusive with one another if we can. Life’s too short to be scared or miserable!

Stop peeping. C’mon in! We’d love to hear from you.

Meh. We can all have opinions. The fun starts when the opinions have a head on collision with reality.

I suggest you adopt the brace position.

maryeliza54 Sat 23-Mar-19 15:32:50

Using the word ‘good’ is subjective and therefore open to interpretation and challenge.

maryeliza54 Sat 23-Mar-19 15:31:38

I didn’t say you did lie, I said people could

Urmstongran Sat 23-Mar-19 15:30:23

I don’t lie. I post honestly in the hope of helping to disperse some of the gloom and doom. I enjoy finding the GOOD NEWS to share. It really is out there.
❤️

maryeliza54 Sat 23-Mar-19 15:27:37

And if people can’t debate it would give carte blanche to post lies and rubbish without them being challenged - oh come on

Urmstongran Sat 23-Mar-19 15:25:52

P.s. I love being European. Which is why we bought a little place in Spain ??. 15 years ago!

maryeliza54 Sat 23-Mar-19 15:25:37

Ridiculous - you could call a thread TM is the greatest PM ever - it wouldn’t mean that people couldn’t say she wasn’t ( wow triple negative). No one can say this thread isn’t for debate - carry on Grandad

Urmstongran Sat 23-Mar-19 15:23:59

I’m fed up of debating on this thread.
I knew it would descend to ‘yet another argument’ over Brexit.
That was never the intention!
The green tick (as I pointed out much earlier) signifies ‘let’s go for it’ (getting GOOD NEWS out here to share).
It’s not a red rag to a bull.

Some of us optimists look for positive news and yes, it’s out there.
If you don’t like this happier thread - swerve it.
Jeez.
There are some bad tempered people on GN.

I just happen not to be one of them!

Quite right Miss A take a recommend ??

So back to some GOOD NEWS ... Yesterday Macron pointed out the obvious:

“The British politicians are incapable to put in place what their people have demanded. Their people voted for Brexit.”

Macron sees this the same way I do. It’s a failure of democracy. It makes me question how democratic the West really is. Maybe we’re just a bunch of big talkers. We lecture other nations on the glories of democracy, yet fail to live by our own standards. A true democracy accepts the will of the People, even when the way forward appears difficult.

I really don’t understand why you love whipping up a storm Umgran You re like a dog with a bone If you Are Happy with this complete farce then have your glass of wine and enjoy it Many of us have more vision than in, out, in, out shake it all about
Which ever way it goes there is NO good news about BREXIT so your little green tick is like red rag to a bull we could destabilise the whole of Europe
Which ever way this eventually goes half the country will be dissatisfied it will take decades to get the country back to any kind of regrouping probably not in our lifetime Do you not worry about the legacy you are leaving your grandchildren I have never known such hatred, competition and vented angered as we have now

WE ARE EUROPEAN like it or lump it, we cannot change that fact why do some of you want to draw away from your roots for the sake of some misplaced xenophobia
The whole world is in a difficult state shouldn’t we be drawing together working as one not causing distrust hatred and destabilisation by putting great old wedges in

What was so bad about being in the E.U. ?

EllanVannin Sat 23-Mar-19 15:17:40

Blockades at ports anytime. This is what I heard from the " horse's mouth " .

Urmstongran Sat 23-Mar-19 15:16:50

Thank you for your apology Grandad43
❤️

Actually if you look at my previous post to yours, I agreed with you - anyone breaking the law should be dealt with appropriately.

Consensus on this sunny Saturday afternoon!
❤️❤️

MissAdventure Sat 23-Mar-19 15:16:31

Why do you think that, grandad?
There are countless other brexit threads.
This one isn't for debate, as has been stated before.

Grandad1943 Sat 23-Mar-19 15:12:40

As I stated Urmstongran, i found the "Daily Fail" artical myself and also the reports from Devon News on the failure of the M5 and A30 attempted blockages.

So, your reference to them was correct and in that, I apologise.

However, you have not responded to my asking you if you agreed that the attempted blocking of the A30 was irresponsible and that the person's involved should lose their driving licences as a result.

I think you should respond to that Urmstongran

Urmstongran Sat 23-Mar-19 14:56:30

Thank you MissA for your link too. It seems I shan’t be getting any apology from Grandad43 when he cast aspersions upon my veracity.

As some truckers broke the law & the warning they were given, of course its right and proper that they have been reprimanded.

My post still stands though.
I DID read it.
It WAS true.

Grandad1943 Sat 23-Mar-19 14:52:59

Apologies, that should be the attempted Blocking Britain's main arterial routes above. grin

Grandad1943 Sat 23-Mar-19 14:42:15

I thought that this thread was for good news on Brexit

Is the Blocking Btitains main arterial transport routes "good news" Urmstongran?

MissAdventure Sat 23-Mar-19 14:40:24

Grandad1943 Sat 23-Mar-19 14:39:08

I am not being "mean" to you Urmstongran whatsoever. I am just pointing out an alternative view and pointing out the very real dangers to others in people blocking motorways.

I have now found Daily Mail reports of attempted blocking of trunk roads and motorways in Devon yesterday, but it looks as if that was carried out by white van drivers, not heavy trucks.

One of the attempts at blockage was on the A30 in Devon a notorious accident blackspot for its whole length. Those carrying out that must be absolutely stupid with no regard for the safety of others whatsoever.

Anyway, the lead vehicles were pulled off the road and booked by the police, and I for one hope they lose their licences for their irresponsibility.

Do you agree Urmstongran?

Urmstongran Sat 23-Mar-19 14:31:04

‘Devon and Cornwall Police said it had spoken to the organisers beforehand and told them they were to ensure other motorists could pass them and not drop down to unsafe speeds.’

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6840679/Furious-Brexiteers-cause-traffic-chaos-country-organise-lorries-block-motorways.html

There you go Grandad43.
I’ll wait.

Jabberwok Sat 23-Mar-19 14:27:37

Better to be a numptie than a charlatan! Perhaps Grandad you or some clever person in your office know why 500+ MP's voted to activate article 50 when they were clearly Remainers?! Ken Clark didn't sign it because he didn't support brexit - fair enough, so why couldn't others be honest?!

Urmstongran Sat 23-Mar-19 14:25:53

Why are you being so mean Grandad43? I alwayspost on here in GOOD FAITH from diverse sources - the DM, the Graun, The Independent & The Telegraph. I have no need to lie. Why should I? I shall find the article myself later, post it and then you can apologise to me.

Urmstongran Sat 23-Mar-19 14:22:59

Thank you for saying that Jabberwok
?

It is strange isn’t it how it all got started and where we are now?

Also, quite interesting - I read yesterday that Amber Rudd’s daughter, Flora Gill aged 23y is an ardent LEAVER! She is quoted as saying ‘bring on leaving with no deal’.

Take a recommend Flora. ??

Grandad1943 Sat 23-Mar-19 14:21:48

Well, IF IT WAS in the Daily Mail it would consist of their usual load of cr*p anyway.

Grandad1943 Sat 23-Mar-19 14:18:34

How unfortunate Urmstongran.
