❤️

Most of us are weary of the gloom and doom on GN! Let’s share positive news and views. Its time to look for compromise, be kind and inclusive with one another if we can. Life’s too short to be scared or miserable!

Stop peeping. C’mon in! We’d love to hear from you.

Nothing wrong with positivity but in this situation there can be no positivity, whichever way it goes it’s a huge country disaster, like none we have faced in most of grandsnetters lifetimes, so you stay in your little dream world Urm in your little bubble of unicorns and rainbows ? but don’t be cross with more realistic posters, which ever side they are batting for

This is what’s happening today

maryeliza54 Wed 20-Mar-19 07:27:37

Have you heard the phrase ‘fool’s paradise’ Urm?

Urmstongran Wed 20-Mar-19 07:25:24

Good morning everyone!
9 days till Brexit and those in charge of it all will be doing what needs to be done to keep us safe.

Politicians often say one thing whilst thinking another. All the politicians don’t agree with Mrs. May’s perspective. I have chosen not to worry about it and, if I’m honest I’m a little bit excited about a week on Friday!

We are all different. Which is fine.

Anybody else out there who is a tiny bit positive? I can’t be the only person in the U.K. who isn’t scared.

Good post Crystaltips I find it all so unsavoury when the country is facing the biggest disaster since WW2, but let’s all smile and say it will be fine, even though there will be civil unrest which ever way it goes, all the hard work of Ireland /England situation is pretty well ruined there will be huge racial tension with the Far right gaining more ground since the dreaded Black shirts The economics will be screwed for at least a generation but its all fine and we are just snowflakes and moaners
Heads firmly in the sand

Yes we will all get on with our lives , even those that loose our jobs, or need medicines which are rationed etc. Those of us able to go on luxury holidays now won’t have any problems maybe a bit longer in the passport queue but that’s all. So in a way this thread isn’t about Brexit it’s about “I’m all alright Jack - Please don’t point out any negatives as it’s all too depressing and we want to be happy and cheerful, lets all post pictures of fluffy bunnies and kittens and it will all be marvellous”.

Ginny42 Wed 20-Mar-19 03:33:03

Urmstongran and others trying to believe all is well, when the PM says the country is in crisis, we'd better believe it.

I’m not Mystic Meg C.T! No one can ‘know’ anything really in these strange times. But we can be hopeful and trust that our government will do their best to safeguard us.

I don’t worry over what I cannot control.

crystaltipps Tue 19-Mar-19 22:11:09

So you admit you don’t” know” Brexit will be any good? Meanwhile the Brexit negotiations are costing us £4m per week we could have spent on public services etc. Glad you are so trusting in our ineffectual government to spend money wisely. They certainly won’t be spending any ( non existent) extra money on us plebs.

Urmstongran Tue 19-Mar-19 21:56:11

That’s okay jura2

To be honest if as a Brexiteer I had to work alongside
Mrs. May I think I’d have bailed out long ago! I don’t blame them actually.

That said, ‘threatening to’ is a bit like
maybe
could
possibly

Words often used by Remainers who can’t ‘know’ things but post or write articles proposing such.

Bit like those celebrities who said they’d leave the U.K. if we voted to Leave. - yes you Lily Allen and Bob Geldof amongst others.

andycameron69 Tue 19-Mar-19 21:54:02

jura2 Tue 19-Mar-19 21:27:06

Urmstongran Tue 19-Mar-19 21:17:36

Firstly, nice post on GOOD NEWS Fennel. - right here in the spirit of things. Take a recommend that woman ??

And very well said Day6 - language is so emotive isn’t it? I hate ‘crashing out’ for example. Some of the terms are coined to induce anxiety. We don’t have to buy into them people! Take a recommend lady ??

Now then crystaltipps.
You and I are from the opposite spectrum and I respect your views. That said, quite honestly you are being slightly disingenuous!

The £350 million which was quoted on the side of the bus is TRUE. Mrs. May herself said, just before Christmas, that is was ‘more like £390 million’ now.

The only mistake was to specify it would go to the NHS. I can understand why they said that, as the NHS is much loved. But the reality is that amount of money would be ours, if we weren’t passing it to the E.U., every. single. week.

A huge amount of money to spend on whatever the government of the day thought best. Fantastic!
❤️

Urmstongran Tue 19-Mar-19 20:35:52

And are we ‘bovvered’ varian? In the last two years my family and I have got on with our lives! Would we (nearly all of us if we’re honest) notice if we were the bottom of ANYTHING?

Someone said, post referendum in some newspaper article- “this is awful as we will have the relevancy of Guernsey.”

All I remember thinking at the time was ‘I bet it’s lovely to live in Guernsey’! Everything is relative. Life goes on.
❤️

varian Tue 19-Mar-19 19:25:47

You should have listened to Nigel

andycameron69 Tue 19-Mar-19 19:13:24

her deal is remain, traitor May..
liar

getting paid wads of cash from the EU

WTO no deal is the legal option.
grin

crystaltipps Tue 19-Mar-19 18:49:55

But the official leave campaign in all their literature told us that we wouldn’t leave before we had a great deal and basically everything would be the same except there would be loads more money for public services. May herself has called the present situation a “ crisis”. They aren’t going to deliver that.

Lily65 Tue 19-Mar-19 18:48:50

The words were is three newspapers today.

I am beginning to loathe the vocabulary, Leaver, Remainer and so on.

I am a person worried by what I see and read.

Day6 Tue 19-Mar-19 18:45:21

Words like crisis and chaos don't make me feel safe

Ah, but they are coined by Remainers I imagine? Just like they want us to think we could 'crash out' of Europe when a plan B, which must exist, would ensure transition, rather than 'crash. That is never mentioned.

I thought it was interesting that the decision was to Leave rather than negotiate with the EU about our membership, or otherwise.

One writer pointed out that the use of language has been very important. He suggested that a CLEAN BREAK with the EU was what we should have been going for, rather than negotiations to remain attached, or "No Deal" which sounds like failure.

It really does seem like Remainers in Parliament have scuppered Brexit, doesn't it?

As this is a positive thread, I am hoping constitutional and Leave legal eagles are working hard to make some sense of the latest delays and ensure that we will indeed be out of the EU before very long.

Nil desperandum and all that!

One SiL works for Vauxhall, and up to now their sales have been good b'h. Fingers crossed.
ie if import of foreign cars becomes too expensive british producers should benefit.
