Link explaining the system by which we will be voting. I pinched it from our sister forum.

I think it could mean a lot if you vote tactically. Remember 'all it takes for evil to prosper is for good people to do nothing'. We need to try.

Now that Democracy has all but finished here, I cannot see point in putting a cross anywhere, what happens if there is a challenge on that out one. I won't feel bothering. Never since I could vote have I ever missed voting. , I thought it meant something, now it doesn't..

The Tory party grandees are trying their best to avoid having to take part in these elections. A deal will get cobbled together yet.

So the closing date is 24th, doesn't give much time does it?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 11-Apr-19 16:59:09

No I dont think that you have to get nominated. It is different to U.K. politics. I think that you can put your name forward, pay the deposit, and the rest is up to you. Of course it is PR as well.

I am happy to stand corrected on this.

Nonnie Thu 11-Apr-19 16:39:36

That really is no time at all for someone to get nominated. Looks like another closed shop.

According to the Tory information it is 24th April. But of course they may be lying or change their minds??

Whitewavemark2 Thu 11-Apr-19 15:55:02

Is it Monday? I’ll find out.

Nonnie Thu 11-Apr-19 15:53:50

White do you know when nominations have to be in? I'm wondering because I've just seen a clip of TM saying that if we can leave be 22 May we won't have to have the elections. So do we prepare for them, send out polling cards etc and then cancel just before?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 11-Apr-19 15:51:35

My pleasure nonnie

Nonnie Thu 11-Apr-19 15:48:52

Thanks for that White it is of course assuming that anyone will want to give up a good job to apply for a short term one!

I hope that ar** Nigel gets his P45!

Nonnie Thu 11-Apr-19 15:10:00

I think that is probably against EU laws gilly.

gillybob Thu 11-Apr-19 15:02:13

Surely It would make far more sense and save heaps of money if they just extended the term of the existing MEP's .

Nonnie Thu 11-Apr-19 14:54:58

Now that it is looking very likely that we will have to vote for our MEPs I am wondering who will want the job. I expect that existing ones will reapply but how likely is it there will be a useful opposition? Why would someone be prepared to give up a successful career to become an MEP knowing that the job could only last a few months?
