Whatever side of the debate you’re on he is very watchable.
I wonder how they’ll do in the elections ( if we have them )

I agree there is an issue with Data Farming, however this is not a new phenomena and not exclusive to the internet. Insurance companies sell our data, so does the NHS, it is an issue that we all need to be aware of, however, unless we go for electronic voting I find it hard to understand how mass mental manipulation via internet targetting can actually be responsible for a referendum or election result.
Sometimes Facebook will ask whether an advertisement has been seen on the site in the last couple of days. I think the last one was for a holiday company. I can honestly say I never see any advertising as I skim read to something I want to see.
As my comments obviously concur with others regarding some of Carole Cadwalladr's comments (and no I did not write or was even aware of similar statements), It pleases me to understand others recognise her naivity.
BTW
excerpt from my posting
I think most people who use Facebook are only interested in what Friends and Family are up to and if there is anything decent for sale. Few even look at anything other unless they specifically want to and those usually have made their decision.
Your response
How can you possibly know what millions of other people look at when they use Facebook. What a ridiculous assertion to make.
If you look at my paragraph, I start the sentence with 'I think'. Maybe its you who needs to look at your ridiculous assertions.
*Nigel Farage has received a standing ovation from supporters of the German far-right Alternative fur Deutschland (AfD) party, as he whipped up anti-EU sentiment and urged voters to be “bold” in challenging their country’s status quo.
The former Ukip leader injected debate about Brexit into the German election after receiving a personal invitation by the MEP Beatrix von Storch, a leading figure of the anti-immigration party – and the granddaughter of Hitler’s finance minister, Lutz von KrosigK
I questioned myself earlier, if I was being foolish and perhaps there was some merit to the man and his ideas......I don't think so.
Moustache, different hair style, ( just needs some brylcreem)?

I do not believe that any Prime Minister has ever called a General Election in British history in the hope the opposition would win
Although you may not believe it, can you be 100% sure?
I would love to see actual evidence.
If you can provide then, along with MaizieD I will say 'nice one'.
Although you may not believe it, can you be 100% sure?
I would love to see actual evidence.
I'll give you this, Joelsnan, you're a trier...
Perhaps you'd like to provide us with evidence that, when the tories were miles ahead of Labour in the polls, May called an election in the hope of losing it? You surely can't be surprised that, given that information, we're a tad sceptical of your interpretation...
If you look at my paragraph, I start the sentence with 'I think'.
So what? You think that millions of people use Facebook just like you do.
I think my comments still apply...
MaizieD
So what?
???

These are not 'opinions' - they are facts- so surely no-one can disagree about them? Unless one it totally deluded and brainwashed ...
Lily65 I thought we had agreed that we should never mention how many of those at the top of the Labour party and their advisors are privately educated middle class men because they cannot be held responsible for their parents decisisons, especially when they are the ones affected.
Shouldn't this nobility also be applied to the members of political parties in Germany? The lady you mention cannot be held responsible for having a grandfather in a senior position in the Nazi regime. She probably wasn't even born at the time.
But MOnica she can be criticised for the choices she is making now. I also think that if I had a relative closely associated with Hitler, I’d change my name and just keep out of politics - especially right wing politics.
maryeliza54
It's ok to do what you think she ought to do but not what she herself thinks is right for her?
How odd.
Are you the arbiter of taste?
What you would do has no bearing on her decisions.
This is a relative of someone closely associated with Hitler we are talking about who is embroiled in right wing politics - I think a lot of people would think that was a big deal.
Wy should someone have to constrain their political choices because of who their grandfather was?
I am all for criticism of someone for their political views, even accept a referral to a parent, but a grandparent? As I said we have already been told off for referring to the eductaion of Labour leaders, because they cannot be held responsible for their parents, although this doesn't stop them making the same criticism of Conservatives.
I think people should be judged on their political views. Full stop, unless they do what they condemn.
She can do what she likes. My point was look at the despicable Nigel, jumping into the power vacuum. He can hold a crowd, he appeals to many. It's a terrifying state of affairs.
Why , when somebody objects to extreme right wing " politics" do we have to get the Ah but......thing. I don't think sending your kids to private school and being a champagne socialist is the same as aligning yourself with extreme right wing politics.
Wellno, because champagne socialists tend to be extreme lefties. Two sides of the same coin.
not really and they are not inciting violence.
WTAF is a champagne socialist ? I thought you were brighter than that MO. And I do criticise her for her political views - regardless of who her fascist murdering scum grandfather was.
WTAF is a champagne socialist ?
I think it's a class traitor, maryeliza.
If you are born middle class you have absolutely no right to abandon middle class values and believe in strange things like fairness and equality...
Likewise, of course, if you are born in less exalted circumstances you have absolutely no right to aspire to be middle class and to hold on to a belief in fairness and equality...
Says one thing , does another
Headlines say "comedian who has given little insight into his policy positions, is set to win a crushing victory."
He has won.
I am a member of the Brexit party. Some of the posts on here from remainers are unbelievable. I am not far right and neither is Nigel F.
You Lefties want to stay in the EU and hold on to two political parties who don't give a stuff about us. The Labour and conservative parties are liars, I could make you a list of the lies as long as my arm and yet you have the gaul to start calling Nigel Frage one.
I can't wait to come back to this thread for a laugh when it happens.
THErose5 Quote [ You Lefties want to stay in the EU and hold on to two political parties who don't give a stuff about us. The Labour and conservative parties are liars, ] End Quote.
So THErose5, someone else who wishes to place blame on the Labour Party for the Brexit situation Britain now finds itself in. However, the Labour Party are not the government in Westminster, as that accolade is solely in the hands of the Tory Party who hold total responsibility for this Brexit catastrophe.
Regarding Brexit, as you say you are a member of the Brexit Party THErose5, and in that the one person leadership of that party has stated that Britain should just "walk away" from the EU under WTO rules.
Therefore, could you inform this forum how Mr Farage plans to resolve the Northern Ireland border situation, or does he believe that risking restarting the war in Ireland is a price worth paying for the UK to leave the "terrible" European Union?
