Whatever side of the debate you’re on he is very watchable.

I wonder how they’ll do in the elections ( if we have them )

varian Sun 28-Apr-19 20:44:55

How undemocratic !

Lily65 Sun 28-Apr-19 20:44:43

Enlighten me as to the link

Lily65 Sun 28-Apr-19 20:43:51

Anyhow back to Nigel and Oldham and the EU?

Urmstongran Sun 28-Apr-19 20:43:04

Maybe Grandad1943 because he doesn’t want his new party hijacked by UKIPers. Keeping it tight this time and relevant to the potential voters. Sensible man. He knows his core voters aren’t racists and he wants to keep the appeal of his new party relevant.

Grandad1943
Has NF publicly declared himself as leader of the Brexit Party? As far as I knew, others had just joined him.

Urmstongran Sun 28-Apr-19 20:39:40

But we DO have a say varian!
It’s called the ballot box!
No point in him doing it all otherwise.

Callistemon, in any traditional British political party the leader is elected by the membership, the policies are decided on by an elected executive and the Annual Delegate Conference.

However not the Brexit party as Farage has decided he will be leader and solely determine who will be allowed to become "full members" of the party, and who will stand as candidates for the party in any elections they fight.

Simple as that. Fuhrer Farage.

varian Sun 28-Apr-19 20:33:58

Who are the actual members of this so-called party? I don't mean paid up supporters who have no say.

Day6 Sun 28-Apr-19 20:29:29

he (Farage) seems to think that racial division will be of benefit to his one person led Brexit Party.

I must be living on a different planet then. Since the formation of the Brexit Party I have not heard or detected one utterance about racial division.

If there had been one I and many other Grandparents here would have denounced it and been as against it as many Labour supporters seem to be.

Given we know that this young party already comprises of people from various ethnic backgrounds I believe you are deliberately posting misleading information.

The byword of the Brexit Party has been, if anything, Unity given the way millions of people have moved away from Labour and the Conservative Parties because of the ongoing shambles over the EU and Labour blocking Brexit.

The Brexit Party is a home for those who a) feel politically homeless (remember there are a lot of Labour Leave voters too) and b) for those disgusted that Leave somehow turned into a deal which will see us Remain tied to the EU.

Farage has many times denounced the racist element of UKIP and the anti-semitic element of Labour.

Did you miss that?

Callistemon Sun 28-Apr-19 20:24:56

Yes, but just the one.

varian Sun 28-Apr-19 20:23:12

In a normal political party the leader is elected by the members.

Callistemon Sun 28-Apr-19 20:20:06

one person led Brexit Party.
A party usually only has one leader, does it not? confused

Grandad1943 Sun 28-Apr-19 20:17:13

Lily65 Quote [Please, enlighten me as to the link between Brexit and Oldham and racial division?] End Quote.

Lily65, I feel the above question should be addressed to Nigel Farage as he seems to think that racial division will be of benefit to his one person led Brexit Party.

Totally incomprehensible and very dangerous behaviour, and people blindly follow this man

Day6 Sun 28-Apr-19 20:13:12

Day6, may I ask why you were curious about the shopkeeper having Brexit parties stickers in his window?

Because I hadn't seen Brexit Party stickers displayed anywhere else Bridgeit I told him I also supported the party and despaired of our present parliament.

(I am now wondering why you asked the question. Am I missing something?)

Believe it or not there are lots and lots of them, men women, children, Hindu, Buddist, Muslim, Catholic et al who despite all the years of suppression speak fluent English .

Lily65 Sun 28-Apr-19 20:00:11

"asked around"......fluent in street hindustani?

Joelsnan Sun 28-Apr-19 19:59:42

Didnt you mention NF telling the US that there are divided cities in UK?
This of course has nothing to do with his Brexit goals.

Somali problems erupted after independence when tribalism re emerged.
Why do Somalis travel across continents to get here? maybe only the masochists come because they miss the misery the Brits inflicted.

Lily65 Sun 28-Apr-19 19:56:48

Please, enlighten me as to the link between Brexit and Oldham and racial division?

The Government should not ban people from watching child porn and Jihadi videos online, says new Brexit Party candidate

www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/04/25/people-should-free-watch-child-porn-jihadi-videos-online-says/?fbclid=IwAR3jAL-2teDQVSY-8UUfe550SD-R8lqdKc6rkLPF-

Lily65 Sun 28-Apr-19 19:55:24

Of course it's divided but please why is that of interest to you friend NF?

Joelsnan Sun 28-Apr-19 19:51:58

Well said Urmstongran

Lily65 Sun 28-Apr-19 19:51:28

Oh yeah them Somalis.....oh hand on another country we messed up.

Urmstongran Sun 28-Apr-19 19:49:14

Oldham is very much divided. And run down. I too have family who have lived there for over 60 years. Boy have they seen some changes.

And to post
“Our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."

C’mon ladies. Surely we are better than this hyperbole?

This all seems a tad desperate!

As I said before, at long last - the people who voted Leave have a champion.

Joelsnan Sun 28-Apr-19 19:19:52

Err Lily65
Yes I know the British were in India. Have you been to India and asked around, I have. Many do not have the same opinion of the Brits as you have. Many apprecite the infrastructure that the Brits created, the roads and rail systems, the work, the orderliness, the civil service, the education system, the health care system, the democracy etc. There are still the social sects and the different religions, the language none of which were suppressed. There are also Dutch and Portugese influences still evident.
If British rule had been so bad, this continent would avoid Britain and the Brits like the plague, but they do not.
