The embarrassment of the Tories

“It is said that those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad”
This is a quote in a newspaper editorial, which I thought extremely apt.
The editorial is headed
“Britain is being ruled by a party that has lost its political bearings”
Goes on to outline the reckless ill discipline so evident in the government, and in particular the leak over the Huawei decision, which defied two of the fundamental rules of British government -

Collective responsibility and official secrecy.

We can rely on neither of those concepts with this dreadful government.

If a government fails in such fundamentals it has failed completely.

Apparently Rees Mogg has written a book about the Victorians (his period)
Times critic has described it as “ staggeringly silly” “morally repellent” “clumsily written” and “pompous”

Sounds like a description of Rees Mogg.

Theresa still wants another go at ruining the country

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 07:47:07

Oh dear, this is almost too embarrassing to note.

Chris Grayling??????

Another of his projects hits the dust.

His privatisation of the probation service has -you guessed it- totally failed.

To be taken back into public ownership.

How much money wasted

Why is he still being paid? Let alone in his job.

It seems I owe you a big apology, pinkquartz. I completely misjudged the tone of your post.

I'm not exactly angry that you'd like a PO back, just surprised that anyone thinks that a private enterprise would have any interest in providing a loss making social service.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 09:30:21

Everything this government does turns to dust.

So the worst Tory PM is finished. What a legacy! Nothing at all except a total shambles from day one.

No one could do any worse.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 16:17:09

So the Tories are now going to waste the entire time of the A50 extension in a period of navel gazing.

God these people are bloody.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 17:59:55

Found out how much money Grayling has wasted not counting the probation service.

£30,000,000,000.

Grayling for PM I say!

MaizieD Thu 16-May-19 18:27:32

Is that £30 billion, Whitewave?

That's 3 years' EU contributions.... shock

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 18:31:16

I’ll just count the zeros again on the site.
That’s embarrassing, one less zero so £3bn

Mind you that’s less than has been wasted just on no deal preparations which came to over £4bn

Urmstongran Thu 16-May-19 18:55:11

I thought it sounded like a statement from Diane Abbott!
?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 18:57:42

No just me not counting right?

Urmstongran Thu 16-May-19 19:33:30

?

Mycatisahacker Thu 16-May-19 19:37:37

urmsonegran grin

Omg!! Failing grayling. What does this man have to do to get sacked? What an incompetent idiot!

I caught the tail end of Beth Rigby today Sky news saying TM wanted to stay on until... something to do with Gordon Brown!

Did anyone catch it???

Mycatisahacker Thu 16-May-19 19:38:53

All this wasted money and the the NHS/police/schools!!! You could weep really

HootyMcOwlface Thu 16-May-19 19:43:36

Grayling should be charged with misconduct in public office, it’s outrageous the amount he has cost the tax payer!

GabriellaG54 Thu 16-May-19 19:55:43

'notable for the paucity of...' not noticeable

Some other embarrassing bit of information.

The independent is reporting that Matt Hancock the health secretary has received thousands of pounds from IEA a think tank which is funded by American companies.

This think tank is attempting to get the NHS scrapped and introduce a private insurance health system with personal top ups.

He is hoping to be the next Tory PM

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 20:13:24

Evidence of the influence

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 20:14:38

More evidence of Hancock working towards privatisation of NHS

www.opendemocracy.net/en/ournhs/the-latest-multi-billion-pound-move-in-nhs-privatisation-is-the-endgame-in-sight/

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-May-19 20:31:33

The cancer scanning service is being handed over to a private company and taken from our NHS, which we have paid for.

Hancock could stop it with a stroke of his pen.

He won’t because he is in hock to those American companies.

Number 4 vote coming up. I suspect this will be the last though.

Oh how well done Tories - since coming to power have not only succeeded in reversing the success in reducing child poverty, the U.K. has now reached levels not seen since the Victorian Era, but we now find that Human Rights Watch have reported that the Tory government are pursuing CRUEL AND HARMFUL Policies with regard to their impact on children living in poverty.

Who said “we are seen as the nasty party” ? Oh yes May. That is about the only correct insightful statement she has ever made.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 20-May-19 08:02:04

When we glibly talk about a billion this or 3 billion that, I wonder just how much we appreciate a billion is? I certainly didn’t until I heard the bit of useless information.

It would take 8 days to count to 1 million.

It would take 31 Years to count to 1 billion.

Now I appreciate the level of money we are talking about???

Whitewavemark2 Mon 20-May-19 08:14:08

The critics are having real fun with Rees Mogg latest contribution to the world of historical literature.
Being described as the kind of sentimental jingoism and empire nostalgia currently inflicting our country.

He must choke over his cornflakes every morning.

The vanity of these people, who have not one ounce of self doubt. These are what is inflicting our country.
Eton seems have a lot to answer for.
We are it seems in severe danger of having another ex-Etonian, again with seemingly no self doubt, who ability knows no starting point, as the next Tory leader.
