Baby's on the way.....

Gonegirl Wed 08-May-19 09:43:08

I'm not fed up with it. I've been looking forward to it. Still am looking forward to the photo-shoot, or whatever they've got planned.

Gonegirl Wed 08-May-19 09:41:56

But I don't feel in the least bit bitter and twisted about it! Cross my heart. grin

The RF manipulate the media all the time and have a smooth highly professional PR machine to protect and promote them which works most of the time. I’m heartily fed up of this birth but that’s true of all the royal births. I think Diana and Kate did all women a disservice by posing on the hospital steps but then I think Kate and Meghan do all women a disservice in embracing so gladly the roles of royal clothes horses. FWIW all we should be told is that the birth has happened sex and weight. I think Hand M haven’t and don’t help themselves with this Inststagram rubbish and apparently wanting to be different. As for a photo - I think the idea of one photographer a few day’s afterwards is fine and actually to be expected. Personally I may be taking an anti-emetic as avoiding the sugar rush on its way will be impossible. I also think that some criticism of MM in general is predicated upon racism and the RF have never lead the way on being racially inclusive with staff for example until very recently.

Well, blame the BBC for mentioning the place of birth at all.

And actually, a lot of women who have had home births themselves (me included) are bound to be interested in her having a home birth. They are becoming rarer these days.

Can't see any point in all the confusion being caused by them. It seems a bit silly.

All the fuss - that's what sells papers.
Basically woman has a baby - parents and baby doing well.
Good.

Mycatisahacker Wed 08-May-19 09:31:36

But why should we want to know the details anyway?? It’s her business not ours.

Gonegirl Wed 08-May-19 09:29:01

It just seemed very odd that in one news bulletin the Beeb said that the baby was born in hospita,l and five minutes later, in the same bulletin, a reporter said no one knew where the baby was born. And that was the day after the birth.

Can't quite get my head round that. grin

And let's face it, it all got a bit too much for poor old Nicholas Witchell, didn't it. And he's got all that experience of 'em.

Bridgeit Wed 08-May-19 09:27:57

?

Mycatisahacker Wed 08-May-19 09:24:03

Agree Bridgeit

So bloody what if she planned a home birth or hospital birth or ‘manipulated’ hmm the press.

Leave the woman alone.

Seriously it’s nobodies business but hers.

It’s a pity they didn’t live stream the birth so some of you could know all the bloody details!!! Wierd

Anniebach Wed 08-May-19 09:23:11

Mustn’t say Megan is manipulating the media but ok to compare posters with ‘old biddies gossiping ‘ ?

Iam64 Wed 08-May-19 09:21:26

What on earth is the matter with people!? Many of us planned a home birth but ended up in hospital. These days if women are a week over, there’s real pressure to go in and be induced. If Meghan needed a c section, hospital is the place fir that. I don’t understand the level of nastiness, the judgemental comments.

Bridgeit Wed 08-May-19 09:19:16

This thread reminds me of the village I grew up in, old biddies gossiping, I couldn’t wait to leave the village & the same goes for this thread. It is actually quite shameful, the comments & opinions some of you have are best kept behind closed !

Rocknroll5me Wed 08-May-19 09:15:56

I think for the first time that perhaps Meghan is a bit manipulative in her PR approach? All the spin about natural childbirth then driving to celebrity American hospital in Mayfair, The Portland, on Sunday afternoon for induction? Maybe Caesarian in this famous ‘too posh to push’ hospital. After birth she is dashed back to Frogmore... and Harry stands outside the stables a mile away in Windsor. All a bit staged. Maybe for good reasons. But people don’t like being led up the garden ... and appreciate a bit of honesty even in retrospect. They are major royals.

Lily65 Wed 08-May-19 09:15:07

I was quoting , I am not a racist. I suggested the names for fun, just like I suggested Wayne, Tyrone and Lee.

Niobe Wed 08-May-19 09:14:54

Was posting at the same time as Mycat and I echo her post exactly.

Niobe Wed 08-May-19 09:09:35

Some people need to read ,and fully comprehend , the thread in its entirety before commenting!

Mycatisahacker Wed 08-May-19 09:08:43

If I read lily65 post right she was quoting another post and criticising it!!!
Some posts seems racist nasty and really cruel to a new mum and dad.

For goodness sake people.

Baloothefitz Wed 08-May-19 09:00:14

Lily 65 ,why would you suggest such names?

Baloothefitz Wed 08-May-19 08:58:16

Lily 65....why on earth would they choose names such as those? Are you being a 'funny'?

Anniebach Wed 08-May-19 08:48:45

Harry is not the little boy anymore, he is 34, Megan is 37, I don’t think he has grown up though.

I didn’t believe there was going to be a home birth , but was said because it avoided the photo shoot outside the hospital.

The photo shoot today, well rehearsed ?

travelsafar Wed 08-May-19 08:27:42

Sparklefizz Looking through rose coloured glasses spring to mind, for Harry and Megan just hope they never clear for his sake.

Sparklefizz Wed 08-May-19 07:53:15

Avalon I don't think there is "snide bigotry towards Americans on this post" as you say.

I think most British people welcomed Meghan when she seemed to be making Harry so happy. We feel protective towards him and he always looked the odd one out when he was with William and Kate. We all wanted him to find his own partner.

However, I for one, have gradually begun to dislike Meghan, and it seems that many Americans don't like her either, so don't blame the British. It's nothing to do with her being American or mixed race - it's the way she comes across. It's what she says, what she does and what others say about her. No smoke without fire and at least some of it has to be accurate.

Obviously I don't know her personally, but I do take umbrage at her arrogance that her role is to "modernise the Royal Family". She stated that her mission was "to hit the ground running" and that attitude hasn't gone down as well as she seemed to think it would.

Also Harry has always been one of my favourites, but he has changed a great deal since being with Meghan, and not, IMHO, for the better. He was not a hypocrite or a rebel, before, but now he is desperate to keep Megan happy by the look of it, even if it means "Hollywood-ising" his life. Sigh.

Iam64 Wed 08-May-19 07:13:22

Baloothefitz - I may be wrong here but I think the post you're referring to by Lily65 was one where she quoted another poster.

annep1 Wed 08-May-19 03:30:12

Possibly not Anniebach, but I thought it interesting that the Queen had. I would be surprised if Meghan didn't make her own decisions.
In any case what a difference to the experience of the majority of women! Little wonder some people get angry.

Baloothefitz Wed 08-May-19 01:13:31

Lily 65 how nasty & insidiously racist of you !
