Misread that the first time Labiak
I am glad you are okay (my misreading) and I hope the dog is getting better.
Is democracy being by-passed in favour of the billionaires?
Names are coming along at a regular basis, and with May having a meeting with Brady today, it is likely that she will be persuaded to give a date of her departure.
So let’s start looking at who would make the most suitable Tory leader.
The first out of the hat is Boris Johnson.
His first hurdle is facing court to defend the charge of lying before the referendum.

GGmk3, I ask you please can you just stop putting the Grammatical boot in to other GNetters post.
It is neither needed, warranted , or very becoming of a grown woman. Get over yourself, you spoil a thread by doing so.
Ps. Of course if you are having an unhappy or difficult time at this present moment , that would be a reason, but why not reach out to us all instead, we can be a very compassionate bunch ?
Oh dear!
I think that you are just making things up is a rather personal attack, not attacking the post, Gracesgran but never mind.
However, I can let it wash over me and I would echo Bridgeit's post if times are difficult for you.
If Raab tries to shut down Parliament- it will turn really nasty.
Uncharted waters ahead for sure.
Bercow will sort him out (if, rather than when)
Almost used 'Civil War' but corrected- however ....
You are right Callistemon that was personal but no apologies, you were making things up. The whole idea of Brexit is made up, even the name is made up.
And why did you produce this straw man argument on a thread about the next Tory government? Because even you can see that where Johnson is concerned, the Emperor's got no clothes. But rather than admit he would be the worst possible choice to foist on this country as PM you have to find a none argument to attack those pointing that out and distract from Johnson. That still doesn't change the fact that, for the Tory faithful the only thing thing that matters is their patriotism to their party. If they cannot put their country first at this time I can see no reason why those who support what they have left us with in this country, and believe in what we had before the upended everything in this country, should not think about civil unrest as the answer to these dictators.
Boris is promising £39 million and dropping the back stop.
Raub and Mcvey want to shut down parliament. Ruth Davison is backing Sajid Javid.
Can't believe this bunch of losers. Democracy demands they allow a general election.
Gracesgran! Your posts are erroneous and becoming wilder - and I didn't coin the word 'Brexit', nor mention the word on this thread as far as I am aware - nor even vote for it.
Whitewave, I agree with you that the prospect of BJ as PM is frightening, as in my post of 8/6/19 at 14.36.
The majority of them are promising things they have no right to promise. They are treating this like a presidential election and don't seem to understand the representative, parliamentary democracy we actually have.
It is beginning to look like we will have a spoilt sociopath thrust upon us, who is being prevented by his team from giving interviews - so little does he know or understand. When asked why he should be PM he apparently said "I want it, I want it, I want it".
Fancy backing that just to advance your career and to hell with democracy.
Michael Gove on tv today seems to think he's done a great job in every position he's been in [education anyone?] and also managed to slip in the fact that he's adopted [violins anyone??]…..at least, to his credit he has the guts to be interviewed I suppose...I find it funny that they're all having to come clean about their past because Johnson is muck raking.
Just what sort of Britain are they visualising?
Tax cuts being proposed?
So our services are on their knees, how are tax cuts going to achieve their rebuilding?
Oh of course a small state is what they want and devil take The hindmost.
after Mrs May was so mocked for saying her naughtiest ever misdemeanour was to run through a field of wheat- they are now all trying to be seen as 'human and fallible', competing with admission of drug taking. It is so weird and funny.
Mind you, if you know people who work in finance in the City- cocaine taking is just 'normal'.
Several of the candidates for leader are once again talking about "deregulation" for the benefit of businesses in Britain, which is an old Tory chestnut at election times.
Have they already forgotten that without the inquiry being half completed that Grenfell Tower was the result of deregulation?
Oh yes; Gove also said he'd made a lot of 'sacrifices'. You mean your credibility Michael [if you ever had any, that is....]…?
'Have they already forgotten that without the inquiry being half completed that Grenfell Tower was the result of deregulation?' good point Grandad...
Is anyone else confused about the leadership election? I thought it was to replace Mrs May and was therefore just about Brexit and how it should be achieved. Why are new policies being discussed which were not in the manifesto? Or have I got it all wrong? This morning apparently replacing VAT and lowering the abortion weeks limit have been discussed by contenders.
No suzie the Tories think that they can do what they like. No election for the PM and policy change?
Who cares?
But isn’t this wrong? Wouldn’t you have a general election if you were going to introduce lots of new policies? I just don’t get it
Well you would think so wouldn’t you? But not with this shower. They think that they can get away with anything, including shutting down parliament if they can’t get their own way.
Thank goodness for people like Bercow who won’t be cowed by the Tory supporting media or the rough end of the Tory party.
Labour "swopped" PM mid term, Blair gave up his PM role to Brown!!
It’s not the swapping I’m objecting to - there are lots of examples of that but the introduction of new policies that haven’t been put to the voters or debated across the parties during a general election campaign. Why isn’t it all just about Brexit and achieving that and new ideas on other things left for the next election.
The Marr Show was quite a terrifying spectacle this morning. Gove with his cocaine'mistake' which Marr kept referring to as his crime and before that the appalling McVey who was talking about clearing the cabinet of all remain supporting members, of possibly overturning Parliament if necessary. Do these people not give any thought at all to the 48% of us who don't want this shit show? If this was being done by a Labour government there would be accusations of Stalinism. I do not like the man, but thank heavens we have a strong speaker like Bercow to control these power mad maniacs. It is no longer funny, it is frightening.
