Confirmatory Vote

If an agreement on a WA is reached, and it is a big if, Starmer has said that Labour intends to put the final decision to the U.K.

Given that the vote for leave left wide open the way we left, and also given the fact that since the vote it has become all too clear how complicated, potentially damaging and divisive this is, then it seems to me that in order to prevent our democracy from being damaged even further than a confirmatory vote is the only way forward.

I am a strong remainer, and my preference is to revoke, but I realise that in order to begin to reach out to those who voted leave across this huge divide then a confirmatory vote is one of the best ways to firstly confirm that we are leaving - essential now that we are all aware of the facts- , and most importantly HOW we leave.

Or Grandad the person who is so cruel could have a very unpleasant personality problem [sigh]

Grandad1943 Sat 18-May-19 16:50:47

No doubt she will now point out my double use of "forums" above. ?

Grandad1943 Sat 18-May-19 16:48:38

It would also seem that those which publicly try to belittle people by highlighting a persons spelling and grammar on forums forums such as this, never stop to think that the person they belittle perhaps suffers from one of the many forms of Dyslexia.

Disgusting. How low can some people sink.

Jabberwok Sat 18-May-19 16:17:26

Too right Nonnie!! confused

Nonnie Sat 18-May-19 16:05:22

As they say Jabber nowt so queer as folk, especially the ones who think they are superior to others. It usually transpires to be quite the opposite grin

Jabberwok Sat 18-May-19 16:00:21

It's beyond me why anyone would either want to, or could be bothered to correct someone else's spelling, or any other minor discrepancy. It's not only rude and disparaging, but shows incredible arrogance!! Why on earth would you be like that?!

GabriellaG54 Sat 18-May-19 15:36:42

Don't be afraid to name names. That shows you to have the courage of your convictions.
I'll nail my colours to the mast on any day of the week.

GabriellaG54 Sat 18-May-19 15:32:05

It's the stuff some posters write about that's of no consequence to me. At no time did I write that any one person was of no consequence.
Correcting me for correcting some (and by no means even 1/8th) of spelling 'errors' is ok by me if you want to do it.
I think it's a pity that the English language is in decline, dumbed down or, as some people might declare, 'changing with the times'.

Nonnie Sat 18-May-19 12:18:40

Maizie watch out, I got told off about telling someone to ignore them. Apparently that meant I was 'policing gn'. I haven't heard from HQ though grin Just someone who didn't agree with my point.

GG I already knew that none of us are 'any consequence' to you, pretty sure we all see that.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 18-May-19 11:38:23

What has surprised me is the lack of troll type posters supporting Farage.

Does anyone remember them from before the referendum. GN reached an all time low with their hate filled posts, disguised as common sense or working class. They all, every one of them disappeared immediately afte4 the referendum.

MaizieD Sat 18-May-19 11:23:31

The poster who persistently corrects other people's spelling and grammar really isn't worth interacting with, ladies. If one polite suggestion that such behaviour is held to be rude on this forum is ignored then they are doing it to annoy and aren’t worth wasting words ongrin

I told you on another thread that she was pointless!!

GabriellaG54 Sat 18-May-19 09:32:33

Puerile, delusion, superiority, pleasure...all ok with me.
Your problem not mine. grin

Ginny42 Sat 18-May-19 02:09:46

GabriellaG54 It seems the correction of minor errors in the writing of others gives you some sort of pleasure and a rather puerile delusion of superiority. Many of us don't like pettifogging complaints which seek to put others down.

US (Microsoft) spelling is accepted in word processed texts in many higher education institutions btw, as long as all spelling in the same work is either US or UK English and not a mixture.

GabriellaG54 Sat 18-May-19 01:27:38

What you think is of no consequence to me Nonnie.
I happen to think it's ok to correct. Your idea of rude is not my idea of the word. We must disagree...?

WTO will ask for a lot more, and we won't have any say whatsoever.

jura2 Fri 17-May-19 19:40:26

Of course not Ww2- the question is to Leavers who keep repeating they want our Laws back, and never ever come up with a single exemple. I have asked many times, and again on Wednesday - NO answer.

There is therfore only one conclusion, after months of asking.

TM interviewed today blamed Labour for the failure of their talks. She said that Labour could not decide whether they wanted to "deliver Brexit" or hold another referendum WHICH WOULD REJECT IT.

Very revealing. This is why TM thinks it's OK to ask the HOC to vote on her deal for the FOURTH time but is opposed to a second referendum for the British People.

Fennel Fri 17-May-19 18:53:17

Maw - well spotted smile.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 17-May-19 18:46:39

jura do you mean me?

jura2 Fri 17-May-19 18:45:05

Which Law or Laws do you want to take back, please?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 17-May-19 18:37:35

?

MawBroonsback Fri 17-May-19 18:31:33

Not all member states agree with this view but they usually practice them
<whispers > and the verb is spelt with an ‘s” - “practise”
Touché?

Fennel Fri 17-May-19 17:57:48

"I think it is very rude to criticise someone else's typing error."
Thanks Nonnie [grin}.
And thanks GG54 - I'll try to remember.

Nonnie Fri 17-May-19 16:58:15

I think it is very rude to criticise someone else's typing error.

Thanks White I knew they were not just given the job by the EU
