jura - I agree, and having access to free, easy, widespread and confidential contraception should be the norm. Unfortunately, that isn't the reality for millions of women, and it's not simply about contraception at point of entry. Sex and relationship education needs to start from a very early age so that children grow into adulthood knowing that they have choices and knowing what coercive relationships look like, and a huge amount needs to be done to address the power imbalance between men and women.
Abortion is a fact of life. It will not stop simply because some religious zealots of the right wing variety attempt to pass further laws to control women. What's happening in Alabama is abhorrent - it will only stop safe abortion, nothing more.
