Banning milkshakes to save Farage

Well Newcastle got him today but police in Edinburgh asked McDonald's not to sell milkshakes whilst he was there. What do you think? Is he fair game? Is it OK to target right wing politicians? Or should milkshakes be banned?

I can't stand Farage or his politics but I disagree with throwing things at people (or surrounding them and screaming insults in their face). It's a premeditated act of aggression and the subject of the attack may momentarily fear something much worse than milkshake is being thrown at them.

However, although I accept it was wrong, I did have some sympathy with John Prescott when he - perhaps as an instinctive reaction - hit back at a man who threw an egg at him.

And who are these' other people that can run the party? Anne Widdecombe or Rees Moggs sister?

You obviously have no idea how fervent Leavers feel about the mess our government and parliament have made of the Brexit negotiations. In fact, who voted for negotiations? We voted to Leave.

I have very small scale political experience but I think many like me, ordinary, unremarkable people, would happily grab the banner and carry on should all Leave politicians of note fall by the wayside. Feeling is strong that this time Leavers should not roll over and die.

One thing Brits are noted for is their sense of fair play.

So, attacking an old man (81) - a premeditated act of violence, is OK by Remainers?

"A retired army veteran and Brexit Party supporter refused to abandon his post outside a polling station after he was attacked with a milkshake*

Don MacNaughton, 81, who served with the Paras for 22-years was covered in the strawberry drink by a "yob" who spotted his Brexit Party rosette

But the former soldier, who served in hot-spots all around the world, laughed off the attack saying strawberry was his favourite flavour.

Widower, Mr MacNaughton, who had been campaigning for Nigel Farage's party in his hometown of Aldershot, also refused to go home and change his soiled clothing following the incident on Thursday morning.

He told the Telegraph: "I’m not going anywhere and I’m not going to change out of these clothes, even though lots of people have offered me clean shirts. These are my war wounds and I’m keeping them on. And I’ll be here till the polling station shuts. It’s my duty.”

It's shameful. An old man is fair game for a Remainer because he voted to leave a political bloc? Yob rule now? Leavers have had to suffer three years of abuse and insults When will it end?

Well each to their own.

If you want to live in a country where yobs throw things at people they don’t agree with that’s sad.

If you can only throw things be that a milkshake or worse it really shows you are a stupid playground bully.

Pathetic behaviour. What an example for adults to set.

The old man with the yoghurt down his front was a load of made up twaddle. Fools.

Oldwoman70 Fri 24-May-19 09:00:14

What proof do you have that is the case Elvive

Elvive Fri 24-May-19 09:09:27

CCTV from a local shop, eyewitness accounts.

Beckett Fri 24-May-19 09:11:26

Links?

Beckett Fri 24-May-19 09:16:09

Elvive I have tried google and no links come up - perhaps you could provide this "proof"

Elvive Fri 24-May-19 09:23:58

Look at him, do you see a traumatised person?

trisher Fri 24-May-19 09:40:40

Day 6 should there be an age limit for fascists?

trisher Fri 24-May-19 09:45:29

There is an analysis and a photo of the man on here www.thepoke.co.uk/2019/05/24/this-forensic-analysis-of-brexit-milkshake-man-is-the-funniest-episode-of-csi-twitter/
Conclusion seems to be that either the offender was very close (and in that case wouldn't you step back) or the yoghurt (too thick for milkshake) was deliberately smeared. Now why would you do that?

Day6 Fri 24-May-19 09:51:04

Day 6 should there be an age limit for fascists?

Who is a fascist trisher?

I see planned, premeditated violence aimed at people who intend to vote differently from another a very sinister act in this day and age.

Freedom and democracy are worth standing up to, as is intimidation and violence from Remainers. That old man was a target for a yob and yet he fought for his country's freedoms and the right to vote as we see fit.

Left wing fascism and violence is alive and kicking and very sinister.

It's despicable.

Day6 Fri 24-May-19 09:51:42

worth standing up for

varian Fri 24-May-19 09:52:23

The timing - 8am is suspicious and points to fake news. The instant publicity contrived at a time when it could potentially influence voters.

Day6 Fri 24-May-19 09:53:02

Conclusion seems to be...

Conspiracy theories now by Remainers instead of condemnation.

No surprises there

Beckett Fri 24-May-19 09:58:06

Elvive he is an ex para - I think it would take a lot to "traumatise" him!

trisher Fri 24-May-19 10:06:54

Day 6 Nigel Farage the leader of a party which isn't a party, which has no policies and no membership is a facist. He has a history of fascism. If you are a follower (because you can't be a party member) you are by association a fascist.
I see planned, premeditated violence aimed at people who intend to vote differently from another a very sinister act in this day and age
If you have any evidence of this please do post it. I see people demonstrating on impulse against a man they despise campaigning in public, and an old man who thought he could jump on the bandwagon and get his picture in the news.

Elvive Fri 24-May-19 10:24:05

Old man has accident with blueberry yoghurt, Metro news on the scene 30 minutes later. Join the dots.

Mycatisahacker Fri 24-May-19 10:37:29

Fake news fake news!

Seems the far left join with trump when it suits them. But then as ever the far right and far left are violent authoritarian bullies.

Beckett Fri 24-May-19 11:53:56

But *Elvive" where is this CCTV footage you claim shows it was fake?

Caro6699 Fri 24-May-19 12:01:22

I don’t think milkshakes should be banned, nor do I condone individuals who feel it is ok to throw milkshakes at others. Stupid is as stupid does

Elvive Fri 24-May-19 17:10:36

Yes , I have proof that this is a non story. I cannot share it here for obvious reasons.

BTW not far anything or a trump fan.....just sayin

Mycatisahacker Fri 24-May-19 17:36:28

If you can’t share it’s not proof is it really! hmm

Nonnie Fri 24-May-19 18:01:03

Mycat let me explain something else to you, you clearly can't work it out for yourself. Read Elvive Fri 24-May-19 09:09:27 and it will be quite obvious that she doesn't have a copy of the video because it belongs to the local shop and probably no one videoed the eye witnesses. Surely we can all be mature enough to accept that a poster tells the truth. Well some of us anyway.

I always think when someone attributes a negative thing to another person without any evidence that they are saying more about the way their mind works than the person they are being negative about.
