Here you are.

All Corbyn critics etc can now have a thread all to yourselves.

trisher Wed 29-May-19 11:02:05

Annie as someone who has condemned bullying and the mistreatment of people by the party today under Corbyn I am very surprised to find you approving of a man who was the worst bully the party has ever seen. Still I suppose he was a Blairite as well.

Anniebach Wed 29-May-19 10:56:51

We can expect more to be expelled this week ?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 29-May-19 10:54:51

trisher yes absolutely, but I don’t actually know. I can make guesses but all I have actually to go on is what I know to be true which is that the rules apply.

My opinion is still that taking AC out if the equation, there should be a period of listening and reconciliation, because without that so many of are beginning to feel disaffected from labours brexit policy and I will vote again if necessary for a remain party.

Anniebach Wed 29-May-19 10:48:20

No matter trisher you are defending expelling a party member for revenge.

trisher Wed 29-May-19 10:45:46

Annie The bullying, manipulation and terrorism AC used to keep Blair in power have been well documented. Even if he tried Corbyn couldn't match it. I don't know if you can call it revenge-more being hoist with his own petard.
And there again he might very well haveknown what the consequences would be. AC is no one's victim.

Anniebach Wed 29-May-19 10:38:45

So revenge trisher, ? no surprise under Corbyn

trisher Wed 29-May-19 10:38:17

I quite like AC but I wouldn't want to work with him and I wouldn't trust him as far as anything to do with the media goes.

trisher Wed 29-May-19 10:35:51

Annie Claire Short who has always been known for her honesty said last night that she had seen members expelled for the same reason when she sat on the NEC. So I assume the NEC sacked AC. If you kick people on the way up don't be surprised when they kick you on the way down.

lemongrove Wed 29-May-19 10:34:23

I think your two points are correct trisher
Have to wait and see if all the other names coming forward to say they voted Lib Dem recently will be expelled too.

Anniebach Wed 29-May-19 10:29:49

Alastair being expelled could only have come from the top,

trisher you are think Revenge was the reason for
Alastair being expelled from the party ?

trisher Wed 29-May-19 10:24:11

Whitewavemark2 Two things occur to me about AC. Firstly do you not think that there' are possibly still people in the LP who are smarting from their treatment by AC and who just acted because they could. And secondly do you really think AC is without motive in speaking as he did when he did? The man is the arch manipulator of the media, the king of spin.

Anniebach Wed 29-May-19 10:22:04

If they followed the rules Whitewave we can expect more members being expelled this week.

You say ‘we can’t say why Alastair was dismissed’ , we can, it was in the email he received.

Corbyn supported The Respect Party, he congratulated George Galloway for taking a seat from a Labour candidate

Whitewavemark2 Wed 29-May-19 10:11:04

To be honest we can’t know why he was dismissed. But what we can’t deny is that the Labour Party followed their rules.

I am taking issue with that fact as I feel it is time for reconciliation and cooperation. I argue this because I am very afraid that unless the Labour Party listens, if there is a GE what happened at the EU elections will happen at a GE.

GillT57 Wed 29-May-19 10:10:36

Did anyone see Clare Short on Newsnight last night? What a monster. She was most dismissive of any discussion about the new investigation into anti-semitism, she just kept repeating that people confuse support for the Palestinian people with anti semitism, would not broker any discussion at all

Anniebach Wed 29-May-19 10:02:43

I am fed up of Alastair being dismissed as a Blairite, Alastair worked with Neil Kinnock when he was leader , his partner Fiona worked with Glenys.

Mycatisahacker Wed 29-May-19 09:09:59

Excellent post WhiteWave I can’t vote labour with this front bench but I would love to see the strong sensible outward looking business friendly socially kind party of John Smith, Blaire and Brown.

It will come back I have every faith. Corbyn can’t last for ever please God.

I think alistaire has labour in his bones and did this on purpose to force Corbyn to go for a people’s vote to, in his eyes, save labour from themselves.

Anniebach Wed 29-May-19 09:04:53

Good post Whitewave I wish I could have stayed with the Labour Party because of the manifesto only, I couldn’t, I want to belong to the party but not as it is now.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 29-May-19 08:56:24

I am a strong Labour Party supporter. I am a strong supporter of a social democratic approach to politics. I liked what I read in the Labour Manifesto and in comparison to the Tory manifesto for me it was a no brainier.

But I reserve the right, as should all thinking people whatever their politics, to criticise any policy with which I disagree. I hope I am mature enough and with enough intelligence to understand that not a single political party will answer all your values.

That is why I chose to vote Lib -Dem in the EU election, me and more than 2 million other Labour voters. In fact Labour came a very poor fourth in my constituency. I live in a remain enclave, largely because I suspect that we have two universities as well as a number of other academic institutions. I did not take that path either lightly or with any pleasure, my heart was very heavy, particularly as I have such a good constituency MP, who is well liked by all voters. I advised him what I intended doing, and he requested that I advise JC’s office.

Yesterday Labour expelled Alistair Campbell. He is someone who I know is Labour to his core. I may disagree with some if his politics but I respect his right to hold the views he does. I know what the rules say regarding voting for another party and I absolutely agree with them in normal circumstances. For me these aren’t normal circumstances, and I find it astonishing that Labour, rather than accepting that so many of their supporters feel out of step with them on this issue, chose to expel Campbell. I would have thought that this was the time for reconciliation and listening.

Instead this act simply appears as “vindictive and petty” in the Guardians words. I cannot say if I agree with this statement, but I do agree that, that is how it appears.

I know that other Labour supporters on GN will not agree with my actions, I accept their condemnation. Times are not normal, and I am sure there are many who vote Tory are in exactly the same predicament.

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 21:43:49

Will the Labour Party start expelling all members who have put their names forward, they will have to surely ?

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 21:37:14

It’s funny isn’t it a really darn good constituency MP transcends party politics.

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 21:30:32

Wow what a criticism of his party leader though that supporters are secretly voting for other parties.

He sounds very funny though and far too good to serve under Corbyn.

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 21:23:30

Rather a lot of labour party members who voted for s different party last week, are putting their names forward ,
oooops

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 20:08:11

No not my MP. He is one of someone with enormous integrity and has a huge loyal following. He is one of the best constituent MPs I have ever had the pleasure to work with.

lemongrove Tue 28-May-19 20:05:22

You would think he may be worried by the mass movement to the Lib Dems though, however jokey his emails.

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 20:05:08
