I think it's easy to work out. If Brexit goes ahead without any deal the Brexit party will hang on to the voters who supported it, or they may return to Conservative, but those who think no-deal is toxic will be alienated. When a GE hapens those form constituencies which voted Remain will lose their seats so
Conservatives- Brexiteers
+Conservatives-anti-no dealers
+Conservatives -Remain voters.
=not many left!

Indeed so.

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 17:38:43

Oh he’s a prize idiot agree there

EllanVannin Tue 28-May-19 17:30:43

How can the idiot know that his party will lose in a GE after the amount of protest votes in the EU ? Two entirely different elections. I'll say it again, the man's an idiot.

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 17:29:06

I don’t think it’s possibly to work out a GE
Result I think it’s far too complicated to call. People tactically voted against the main parties but may well return in a GE.

Good

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 17:24:28

This will please Hunt

Bercow gives big green light for MPs to block no-deal. “The idea that Parliament is going to be evacuated for the centre stage of debate on Brexit is simply unimaginable...The idea the House won't have its say is for the birds."

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 17:20:31

Brexit vote 1/3rd of the 37% voted for a no deal. That’s about 12% of the population.

In other words 88% did not vote for BP and no deal.

trisher Tue 28-May-19 17:13:01

Framilode of course it wouldn't. The Brexit vote is only a third of the vote share-31% Lib Dems only had 20% so approximately 50% of voters would be unrepresented in your Parliament.

Ilovecheese Tue 28-May-19 17:08:15

That result is not a possibility under the first past the post system is it?

I suppose at least Jeremy Hunt is not pretending to be interested in anything else except power.

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 16:54:19

I know but we would be in stale mate Brexit Groundhog Day for ever Framilode grin

Framilode Tue 28-May-19 16:49:10

A 50/50 Lib Dem/Brexit Party split in Parliament would probably reflect the country more accurately.

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 16:21:10

Well he’s probably got a point.

Neither main parties could stand a GE at this point it would result in a parliament of Brexit members and Lib Dem’s probably 50/50 and I think that might send the country Off it’s head

Luckygirl Tue 28-May-19 16:16:42

.....that a GE would result in the annihilation of the Tory party. So, he is basically saying that he knows that the majority of people in GB do not want his party in power but he does not give a flying about it and will act to preserve them in power.

I am intrigued that he regards it as acceptable to be so open about it and not imagine that some folk might find that offensive.

So much for democracy!
