Trump and his latest tweet.

"As his jumbo jet came into Stansted, Mr Trump took to social media and said: 'Sadiq Khan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job as Mayor of London, has been foolishly 'nasty' to the visiting President of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom. He is a stone cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me'.

He added: 'Khan reminds me very much of our very dumb and incompetent Mayor of NYC, de Blasio, who has also done a terrible job - only half his height."

How could he say that?! Especially when just entering the UK!

Is he bonkers? That's just not normal.

eazybee Mon 03-Jun-19 10:31:45

He says it because he is an oik, whose behaviour does not reflect the office he holds.
Exactly the same can be said about Sadiq Khan.

I think the whole concept of him on a plane tweeting is beyond belief actually. What on earth have we come to?

maddyone Mon 03-Jun-19 11:05:52

I know as write this I will be shouted down, and I’m not a Trump fan by any means, but his childish tweet was in response to an equally childish tweet by Khan. They should both grow up and be respectful of the office they hold. I’ve no time for either of them whilst they keep up this infantile behaviour. It’s interesting that the news is mainly reporting only Trump’s tweet, except for the one occasion when Khan’s tweet was reported as well. I prefer to see balanced news and unless both tweets are reported, then the news is not balanced.

Although I completely agree with Trump about what a terrible Mayor Khan is, it was incredibly undiplomatic of him to tweet that just as he was arriving on British soil.

I do like the fact that he is unafraid to speak his mind, but what terrible, insensitive timing.

JenniferEccles Mon 03-Jun-19 11:11:21

I agree maddyone

blondenana Mon 03-Jun-19 11:13:31

Not a big fan of Trumps, but at least what he says he will do he does, and Khan, well, ;;;;;; no words really,

maddyone Mon 03-Jun-19 11:19:06

I agree with you too Jennifer, as soon as it was reported I said to my husband that as Head of State he should have a bit more dignity. If I were Trump I would totally ignore all vile abuse Khan is putting out. That is the dignified way to behave.

When I said a few days ago that we should just sit back and let Donald Trump show himself up in his tweets, even I didn't think he'd do it on the way in.

I have this picture in my mind of his diplomats in the other section of Air Force 1 (if there's any room left once his brood were seated) whispering to each other in despair:

John: "What's he doing?"

Jim: "Tweeting."

John: "Yikes! I hope it's about the Mexicans or the Iranians or the Koreans ... as long as it's not about any of the Brits for the next three days we'll be OK."

Jim (having glanced at the TV newsfeed): "Uh Oh...."

...remind me why we are giving this tweeter a state visit again confused

JessK Mon 03-Jun-19 11:26:30

Lets hope he draws the line about commenting on the royal family!

kittylester Mon 03-Jun-19 11:28:44

You couldn't write it really!

Elvive Mon 03-Jun-19 11:29:01

unafraid to speak his mind???

What worries me is what is in his mind.

abbey Mon 03-Jun-19 11:32:40

Well, Trump said that the Mayor of London is as bad as the Mayer of NY. He isnt wrong. As for childish or ill mannered. Nothing beats that stupid ballon you all are so clearly in favour of.

I hope Trump continues to tell it like it is. The british have lost their sense and good manners, they deserve what they get now.

I am ashamed of this country and those who want to support hate a visiting dignitary like this. Its a new low for Britain and sometimes someone who has more guts has to tell you what you are like ( some of us already know anyway).

It didnt happen in France.

This country welcomes despots and kicks its allies in the teeth.

EllanVannin Mon 03-Jun-19 11:32:53

One thing you can't say about the man and that's not two-faced. He says it as it is ! Good on him.

abbey Mon 03-Jun-19 11:34:10

I actually hope he does comment on the RF. They need commenting on good and proper. I feel sorry for the Queen with a bunuch of champagne socialists for a family and progressive US liberals telling us all what to think whilst spending a fortune on clothes.

JenniferEccles Mon 03-Jun-19 11:54:33

He may well be right about Huawei. Time will tell.

I also share his scepticism about man-made 'global warming', considering the fact that our planet has gone through spells of warming and cooling for the past 2,000 years.

Isn't he correct in his desire to protect his borders, to have a say in who does or doesn't enter the US? Of course he is.

We all know that he can be rude, arrogant and bullish but that doesn't mean we should automatically dismiss everything he says.

I really cringe at the thought of all the inevitable 'rent-a-mob' demonstrations that we will see over the next few days.

Griselda Mon 03-Jun-19 12:02:36

Neither of them know how to behave with proper decent, old-fashioned manners.
Khan should be more respectful of a guest and Trump should be big enough not to retaliate.

I am old enough to remember real fascists. When I walked into the American cemetery in Normandy I, not normally a weeper, just burst into tears.

It would be a good thing if both of them were more thoughtful.

And don't forget that he still has huge grass roots support in America. People who admire his blustering style and don't give a damn about dignity in a leader.

Millie22 Mon 03-Jun-19 12:09:01

He certainly says what he thinks of anything and anyone. Let's hope he doesn't stand in front of the Queen again as he did before.

Elvive Mon 03-Jun-19 12:10:35

What on earth do you mean by " tell it as it is" and " not afraid to speak his mind"
Can you provide some examples of this talent please?

Callistemon Mon 03-Jun-19 12:10:44

That's just not normal.
It certainly is not the type of behaviour we should expect from a POTUS!!

Nasty seems to be one of his favourite words to describe anyone who disagrees with him.

Callistemon Mon 03-Jun-19 12:12:21

Nor should we expect that type of behaviour from a Mayor of London!!

Grow up the lot of you.

MawBroonsback Mon 03-Jun-19 12:12:58

That tweet is just wrong on so many levels- and GabbyG will no doubt join me in pointing out the wretched man can’t even spell Khan
Rude, deliberately provocative, crass, undiplomatic., and what is that about size? ....I’m sure there are plenty more words to use.
I wish somebody would confiscate his phone! Do you think he’ll be tweeting under the dining table at the state banquet?
So much fantastic material for Dead Ringers!

Callistemon Mon 03-Jun-19 12:13:39

oh, I see that maddyone has already said that

I agree maddy

Puerile behaviour
