"As his jumbo jet came into Stansted, Mr Trump took to social media and said: 'Sadiq Khan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job as Mayor of London, has been foolishly 'nasty' to the visiting President of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom. He is a stone cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me'.

He added: 'Khan reminds me very much of our very dumb and incompetent Mayor of NYC, de Blasio, who has also done a terrible job - only half his height."

How could he say that?! Especially when just entering the UK!

Is he bonkers? That's just not normal.

He was paired up with Ivanka. Showed her the exhibits, then merged into the background. Kept away from Trump.

So what did Harry do? <puzzled>

Nandalot Tue 04-Jun-19 16:20:14

Well according to Trump everything is on the table in any future trade deals, including the NHS. Help!

Lyndiloo Tue 04-Jun-19 15:34:34

* Obama, I meant to type!

Anniebach Tue 04-Jun-19 15:33:24

Harry did what his position as a minor royal required same as Andrew, escorted Trumps family , didn’t see a close up of the family on the balcony but I expect Harry was there. He was in the room when the queen was showing Trump items from the royal collection

Most in my singing group this morning were going along to Finsbury Park station to sing anti Trump protest songs. They also went along to Extinction Rebellion to sing a few weeks back...such a 'right on' group of Crouch Enders!

I must have been the only one who wouldn't go. I do love the singing though.

(Strutting around by her old feller's side, looking vaguely glamorous, and being polite to people}

absent (your post 23:42:04)

Whaddya think I mean FFS?! hmm

maddyone Tue 04-Jun-19 14:17:05

Well I think it was Boosgran who made the suggestion originally Gilly, I can’t take the credit for that. Mind you, he’s a multi millionaire in his own right, so I don’t suppose he would need to work.

That could be an interesting debate Alexa.

Our 27 fellow EU countries are together stronger and these are our true allies. Trump's America is a land of protectionist climate change deniers who see all other countries in terms of what they can get for themselves.

This is certainly not the USA of 75 years ago. Leaving the EU would irreparably damage our security and leave us all the more vulnerable to those who do not have our best interests at heart, but talk about "America first".

Alexa Tue 04-Jun-19 13:18:17

" Whatever American or British people think of Trump, the fact remains that he is Head of State of our most powerful ally and we should all respect the position if not the man. "

I am not sure that Trumpland is our most powerful ally. That country is at least as beleaguered by extremist right politics as are we ourselves. I think our most powerful defenders are no longer nation states but the free media.

Harry is human. He was civil. Why would he be overtly welcoming to the man who, as others on this thread say, doesn't give a sh1t and 'says it as it is' as though that's something to be admired?

Jabberwok Tue 04-Jun-19 13:08:57

Yes, sadly Prince Harry!! Maybe, standing up to a strong minded wife could be proving difficult for Harry!

nanasam Tue 04-Jun-19 13:05:39

Did anyone see Sadiq Khan's interview this morning - news.sky.com/video/sadiq-khan-trump-is-far-right-poster-boy-11734655
I dread to think what Trump will tweet in response!

Callistemon Tue 04-Jun-19 13:05:16

I still think we should set Kirstie on them.

She'll sort them all out.

Callistemon Tue 04-Jun-19 13:04:36

Did Harry crack a tantie?

Please tell!

Ginny42 Tue 04-Jun-19 13:00:22

Trump courts controversy. He's flown across the Atlantic with a huge amount of security, paraphernalia and his entourage and his aircraft is preparing to land at the start of a state visit and he thinks,^ 'I know what I'll do. I'll fire off an insulting tweet about the Mayor of the City of London telling him he's a stone cold loser.'

That is an insult to the figure of the Mayor of our Capital, it was an insult to the Queen and the British people. Criticising the Mayor of New York in no way mitigates against the level of the insult.

Why? What goes through his head and why can't his aides or anyone with an ounce of sense advise him against it?

It was an aggressive act by Trump. Khan should have ignored it in my view however, be that as it may, he responded in similar tone and it wasn't pleasant.

Trump should not have sent that Tweet.

gillybob Tue 04-Jun-19 12:38:06

Harry is an entitled little prat . Granny should remind him of the huge privileges he enjoys in return for being polite and welcoming to visiting dignitaries.

Live as a private citizen maddyone don't make me laugh. That might mean getting a job.

maddyone Tue 04-Jun-19 12:25:50

Ah, it was Harry. Yes Boosgran, Harry should behave appropriately unless he wants to live completely as a private citizen.

No Maw, peace has not broken out in Palestine, despite Corbyn having received a peace prize!

MawBroonsback Tue 04-Jun-19 12:19:18

Me too!

And has peace broken out between Israel and Palestine?
If only!

Boosgran Tue 04-Jun-19 12:19:12

Completely agree jabberwok -well said. As for Harry if he can’t fulfill his royal duties and be polite to the visiting President then give up your title and Royal privileges and go and live as a private citizen.

maddyone Tue 04-Jun-19 12:05:52

Yes, I’d like to know that too.

Anniebach Tue 04-Jun-19 11:12:13

Which senior member of the royal family showed a lack of manners ?

maddyone Tue 04-Jun-19 11:10:31

Totally agree Jabberwok.

maddyone Tue 04-Jun-19 11:09:18

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I wasn’t aware that Palestine is now at peace with Israel.
