I'm obviously not asking for detail Labaik, but I wonder if you or other members of your family were in a party before this?

Our family are all joining the LibDems; DD has done so already and I'm about to....

Iam64 it is good to hear that you are another Jo Swinson supporter. Our numbers are growing fast. Politics is in such a mess and we have some truly dreadful party leaders. Many people realise that Jo and the Liberal Democrats are our best hope.

Iam this has nothing to do with sexually abused women.

Annie, my comment about 'hysteria' wasn't only in response to your words, it's more about the fact that 'hysterical' is one of the age old derogatory comments made towards women who find their voice and have the nerve to use it.

Freud was classic wasn't he. All those women with emotional and psychological difficulties who claimed to have been sexually abused. Freud found it easier to dismiss them as hysterical than to consider the fact so many men/fathers could behave abusively.

Jo Swinson is a young(ish) woman with an attractive voice. Having been first elected to parliament in 2005, she is well used to speaking in public. She is passionate about politics yet is one of the least hysterical people you could ever meet. One of the profiles written recently reveals an altogether different aspect of Jo.

She has always been someone that is ultra organised and likes to be extensively briefed before taking part in TV interviews or House of Commons debates. Iam I said she was almost hysterical, it’s true, she needs help to lower her tone and speak more slowly. This is not dismissing her as a hysterical woman, i would say the same if a man spoke so loudly and as such speed.

I want to hear her, but I find it difficult.

grow stuff, I mentioned Thatcher's voice training the first time I heard Jo Swinson speak in her campaign. Hopefully, her advisors will be on to this and get her involved in voice coaching (yoga and meditation) asap.
I can criticise her politics when the Libs were in cahoots with the Conservatives. As an older woman with experience of ho tough the workplace can be for younger women, I'd hope not to see her dismissed in the way so many women are as over emotional or heaven forbid, hysterical.

I feel I have no option but to vote Liberal now that my previous allegiances have been torn away by Johnson and Corbyn. However, I quite like Jo Swinson but my goodness she requires some help lowering her speech range and slowing down her delivery.

Will Johnson dare call a general election when he could lose his own seat? He has a slender majority in this remain-voting constituency.

Jo Swinson is actively working with like-minded politicians and others across the political spectrum to stop brexit.

Hmm. I'm not sure about JS but I am glad she is going to work with "whoever shares our values". but saddened that doesn't seem to extend to Brexit.

I actually was annoyed for her on Politics Live last week.

What an obnoxious man Labour MP Clive Lewis is, he just wouldn't let the woman speak.

Mind you nothing new there with him.

Maybe some Gloucester voters have had a rethink since 2016.

Or maybe they were actually voting for who they want on their council, rather than pretending it was a mini GE.

The Brexit Party has flopped in its first attempt to win council seats, and may have helped hand power to the Remain-backing Liberal Democrats.

The hardline Brexiteers stood in by-elections for two wards in Leave-backing Gloucester and trailed in third and fourth places. The party had more votes in one ward than the margin between the victorious Lib Dems and Boris Johnson’s Tory party, which came in second.

It has been expected that the LibDems will do well in areas which voted Remain but Gloucester voted 58.5 per cent Leave in the 2016 referendum.

I am genuinely not being obtuse for the hell of it. I truly can't find that information, as I said I must be missing something.

Thanks anyway it is a minor issue and I will accept what you say.

* POGS* If you look at the YouGov chart you will see that 14% of the respondants who voted Conservative in 2017 would now vote LibDem.

This poll was taken this week. The Times would have compared this result with previous results.

Perhaps some GNetter who is a Times subscriber might post the whole report.
