Boris v Hunt debate

What did you think?

I thought it held together well.
And that Boris just edged it. But that could be because he’s popular.

Or that hearing yet again that Hunt is an entrepreneur is cringe worthy!

I never thought I would care so much about this issue but it’s got my blood boiling! I can’t stand Boris, shuffling around like a shambling bear, hands in his pocket, smirking most of the time whilst he enjoys filling up the time, not answering any question, but saying “if I may say so” and other filling words. Going over old ground, anything, anything but giving an answer to the question. I though Andrew Neil was far harder on Hunt because he gave straightforward direct answers so AN was able to get far more shots in whereas Boris JUST NEVER STOPS TALKING! AN did go easier on him except for a few awkward moments. Oh I know Hunt isn’t ideal but far better surely. It’s just going to be embarrassing to have BJ as PM and will let a GE happen which will let the other lot in again! I’m getting very anxious about this, it’s not good for my blood pressure at all!

Neither are worthy of being PM but BJ dodged ALL questions AN asked, constantly talked over him - his usual blustering, pompous, cringe-worthy self. Can't stand the man!

I feel a bit miffed that these interviews came out of licence money when only Con party members can vote anyway. hmm BBC catering for the Conservative Party only.

What does it matter what the rest of us think?

Urmstongran Fri 12-Jul-19 22:32:33

I knew Andrew Neil would ace these interviews! He is forensic in his technique.

mcem regards JH surely the main thing to recall is that he is an ENTREPRENEUR!!

Still think he is ‘May in Trousers’

I thought Boris, although skewered by AN did well.

JH didn’t come over as being better than BJ in my opinion.

Oh well, over to the Conservative party members now for their votes!

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 22:01:11

Andrew Neil, he did well I thought.

Blinko Fri 12-Jul-19 21:29:04

AN...

Blinko Fri 12-Jul-19 21:28:26

As expected, Boris fudged, ducked and dived and tried to fillibuster. What's new?

AM wasn't going to let him get away with it though. Good for him!

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 20:57:52

They were both grilled. AN did pretty well I think.

EllanVannin Fri 12-Jul-19 20:10:21

Hunt had better keep out of this oil debacle that's going on in the Straits of Hormuz !

mcem Fri 12-Jul-19 20:07:54

Agree about Johnson but JH was a nondescript figure who made no impression. Can't remember a single thing he said.

lemongrove Fri 12-Jul-19 20:05:43

Hunt was excellent I thought, and Johnson the usual car crash in the AN interviews just on.

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 19:33:49

Hunt IS getting a grilling. Looks like AN has been told to show no mercy, good.

Riverwalk Fri 12-Jul-19 19:27:44

Hunt's getting quite a grilling.

Luckygirl Fri 12-Jul-19 13:56:19

I too have to declare an interest!

Jane43 Fri 12-Jul-19 13:54:17

I agree Urmstongran, Andrew Neil’s interviews this evening will be much better as he lets nobody off the hook, too late to make much of a difference though.

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 13:24:13

I agree Luckygirl, I certainly don’t like him because of the way he dealt with the doctors. I thought he was vile with them to be honest. My daughter is a GP so I will declare an interest.

Luckygirl Fri 12-Jul-19 13:19:38

Hunt is not a "nice enough bloke" - he picked a fight with the junior doctors and tried to destroy public faith in them. Meantime they just got on with working their tripe our for little money. Dreadful, dreadful man.

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 12:34:34

Yes, Blinko, it’s going on far too long isn’t it? I don’t seem to remember it going on this long with Theresa May, but that’s probably because everyone else dropped out, if I remember correctly. I wish under the circumstances it could have been hurried up a bit.

Blinko Fri 12-Jul-19 12:10:31

Boris.... thinks he will win by having a 'personality'

But he will, won't he. as his supporters think he can do no wrong.

Regarding tonight's session, I think it's AN interviewing them separately, half an hour each. So not a debate as such. I stand to be corrected, though. I'm rather losing the plot, if indeed there is one.

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 11:56:52

It won’t make any difference to me as I’m not a member. I’ll probably watch out of interest though.

Urmstongran Fri 12-Jul-19 09:19:20

I’ve just read that only one third of the ballot papers have been returned thus far so for those (party members) left to vote there is still everything to play for!

Shropshirelass Fri 12-Jul-19 08:23:14

Boris is a bumbling baffoon, heaven help us if he becomes PM! He can't answer a question and thinks he will win by having a 'personality'!

Riverwalk Fri 12-Jul-19 08:14:22

It really is a farce having the Andrew Neil debate tonight, days after the ballot papers went out and many already returned.

A handful of unrepresentative citizens will be choosing the next prime minister - why is it on prime time TV? I can only hope that Bozzer makes an ass of himself, not that that will change the outcome.

I am expremely p*ssed off with the whole bloody charade!

Johno Fri 12-Jul-19 07:37:38

I think HUnt is the vilest MP I have ever heard. I think Johnson is pathetic. This is the current state of things for Britain. But there is no point at all because the MSM will not cover anything perceived to be right-wing. PC crap and so-called "Hate Speech Law" has completely curtailed free speech in the UK. There is no one here who can name one single policy proposal to do with our lives, our actual lives - from HUNT or that clown JOHNSON. I don't care about who is today's alleged antisemite. I dont care about an Ambassador somewhere will be sacked?? do you? What about WASPIES - CARE FOR THE ELDERLY - AFFORDABLE HOMES and that white Elephant HS2 RAIL?? So pardon me if I dont rate BOREris. WE are being played like a Fiddle.

maddyone Thu 11-Jul-19 12:50:17

Thank you for the information Urmstongran, I didn’t know that there’s a second debate tomorrow. Andrew Neil will be far better at keeping things on track than the woman - can’t remember who it was - who was on the other night. Not that I think it will make any difference, apparently more than half of all eligible voters had already voted at the time of the last debate.
