Instead of gloom and doom (plenty about) how about we lift our spirits with any good news we hear to cheer us up?
?

As in today:
“THE Wall Street banking giant JP Morgan is about to embark on a major hiring spree in the City, despite Jamie Dimon, the chief executive, previously warning about Brexit job losses.

The growth plans stand in contrast to repeated warnings made by the bank’s boss about the effect Brexit could have on UK staff numbers”

Well said B9exchange most of us on here will be with you on this.

I have just come back from Kenya and Zanzibar, where the majority of the population have no clean water or electricity. I doubt any of us will be facing that sort of poverty. We are so incredibly lucky to live where we do.

I love the green countryside, National Trust gardens, the Proms and open air concerts all over the Country, our historical sites, afternoon tea, our love of animals, Wimbledon, and we have just won the World Cricket in the most exciting match imaginable.

Can't we celebrate what we have without moaning for just a few hours?

Oh well said Maw, lemongrove, Rosina, Day6, GG13, Happychops, Johno, Liz46, Jabberwok, Beammeupscottie and MOnica for getting into the spirit of this thread by posting some GOOD NEWS!

It’s out there & it’s wonderful to celebrate and share what’s happening in the U.K. right now.

It reminds us all what a fantastic country this is and how fortunate we are to live here.

I’m on the lookout for more GOOD NEWS tomorrow!
??

Thanks again for your positivity!

Good post Rosina

It is in Left Labour's interests to draw attention to all the unfortunate things in society - (which happen throughout most civilised countries, in Europe and not just in the UK) so we'll all think we are living in some sort of dystopian hell. That's Labour's strategy for getting votes. "Everything is Awful" ought to be their campaign logo. grin

Good news - we live in the UK and thinking people are aware there are many societal problems to be addressed. But guess what, we are not alone. That's a global problem. (Always has been) We also live in a place that millions of immigrants are happy to call home. I am glad to call it home too.

lemongrove Sun 14-Jul-19 22:32:43

Well said Rosina ???????????

Rosina Sun 14-Jul-19 22:28:52

If this were not one of the best, safest places to live then a large number of the world's population would not be trying so hard to get here. Immigrants say they struggle to get here because Britain treats them like human beings. Yea yea - I know all about sleazy politicians, knife crime, wobbly NHS, food banks - life is far from perfect but I truly believe that most of us have a life that is about as good as it gets here; none of us are 'entitled' to anything at all; look around the world and see how fortunate we are to be alive and relatively safe, and anyone not thinking that they are lucky to live here does have that great British privilege of being able to leave. Strangely none of the moaners and gripers never seem to. I am now climbing carefully off my soap box, neatly rolling my flag of St. George and awaiting the sound of bullets coming my way.

Oh goody we could become the 51st state of America if Trump has his way pushing for Brexit, particularly a no deal one.

And yet * EllanVannin* NO criticism of interfering President Obama who said we'd be at the back of the USA trade deals line if we dared break from the EU. hmm

At least Trump sees our potential.

That's good and it doesn't mean the UK will turn to mush and be swallowed up by the big, bad USA , as other posters want us to believe. Project Fear part 4? (I have lost count...)

Good news is most people have faith in our ability not just to thrive but to grow economically and globally once we leave the EU, which has been holding us back.

lemongrove Sun 14-Jul-19 22:16:09

Yes GG13 we did it!????
What a tense exciting match it was
Well done England!

varian Sun 14-Jul-19 21:01:48

We should celebrate the fact that our country has been a member of the EU for more than forty years and we have prospered as a result and fortunately we have not left yet and long may that continue.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 14-Jul-19 20:03:44

England have won the Cricket World Cup ??

paddyann Sun 14-Jul-19 19:27:35

There is NO "united Kingdom" there is Westminster where 85% of teh MP's are English therefor they care not one jot about the devolved nations as witnessed in the Brexit shambles .OUR Elected representatives have been allowed nowhere near the negotiations even though the outcome wil affect us as much or more than it will the rest of this dis -"united" kingdom. The sad thing is all you who are english think thats acceptable !!Philip Hammond stated last week thatwithout Scotlands income the "uk" wouldn't be able to pay its way !!

suziewoozie Sun 14-Jul-19 18:52:46

I was talking specifically about Hamilton who wraps himself in the Union Jack but does not live here or pay taxes here.

Happychops Sun 14-Jul-19 18:19:24

A nightclub opened its doors for dementia suffers. What a joy to see the happiness it brought. It brought back happy memories for those that attended, and it was such a wonderful idea. There are lovely people in this country, who really care. I wouldn’t live anywhere else.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 14-Jul-19 18:03:45

Over half of the Formula 1 teams are based in the U.K., providing employment for many many people.

Their designs and innovations filter down to the cars we drive.

A thriving and groundbreaking industry.

suziewoozie Sun 14-Jul-19 17:31:09

When Hamilton lives in the UK and pays UK taxes, then his winning anything might be good.news for the UK.Until then he’s a tax exile who has turned his back on the UK.

BlueBelle Sun 14-Jul-19 17:29:07

crystaltipps Sun 14-Jul-19 15:40:22

Liz46 Sun 14-Jul-19 15:31:44

Our NHS has looked after me wonderfully well for the last two and a half years and I am very grateful. People in some other countries with the same condition are unable to afford the treatment.
