Instead of gloom and doom (plenty about) how about we lift our spirits with any good news we hear to cheer us up?
?

As in today:
“THE Wall Street banking giant JP Morgan is about to embark on a major hiring spree in the City, despite Jamie Dimon, the chief executive, previously warning about Brexit job losses.

The growth plans stand in contrast to repeated warnings made by the bank’s boss about the effect Brexit could have on UK staff numbers”

"No worry, be happy"

We are gifted with one life, enjoy what you have. There is no point worrying about things we have no control over.

Yes suzywoozie the simple things of life are the best things! Politics comes way down the list, and there are too many people becoming stressed and downright angry because of it.

lemongrove Wed 24-Jul-19 20:52:46

That’s spooky GGM3.....as I was thinking the same of you .

Suziewoosie

Take your point

Jura

We had a perfectly lovely day Thankyou, I don’t like the current situation at all, but I’m not going to let it spoil my pleasure in life

GracesGranMK3 Wed 24-Jul-19 19:02:20

You are at least equally rude to everyone who doesn't agree with your views "*lemongrove*. That at least, and probably at most, can be said for you.

lemongrove Wed 24-Jul-19 15:50:36

Oh Gawd!
Have a wine jura

jura2 Wed 24-Jul-19 14:17:05

superficial things - like the future of your grand-children. Do enjoy the beach, indeed .. and then?!?

jura2 Wed 24-Jul-19 14:16:10

craftyone, could you kindly give us one exemple of decisions we did not make or were imposed on us, please?

Do you believe in Johnson's kippers, really?

Trading on WTO rules will make us vassals of the WTO- and we won't even have a say r representatives. Mind you, even the Head of the WTO has warned that we cannot trade on WTO as we wish, and will have no say in tariffs. Hurrah - take back control, NOT. And do you really think Trump will give us a 'good deal' without a massive price to pay both in financial and other terms??? Honestly?

Jabberwok Wed 24-Jul-19 11:38:26

craftyone ????!!

craftyone Wed 24-Jul-19 11:30:31

who cares grace, as long as we can make our own decisions again, like we used to do. As long as the present feel good factor persists and grows. who cares for those imaginary `what ifs`.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 24-Jul-19 10:35:38

Craftyone, just what do you do when we make trade agreements with the rest of the world and, hopefully, the EU? Each one is a sharing of sovereignty and each one will now cost us more.

Lazigirl Wed 24-Jul-19 09:36:36

Our politics may be divisive and toxic at the moment, but I feel lucky to live in the UK rather than anywhere else in the world. Come to think of it at my age I'm happy to be alive anyway. smile.

suziewoozie Wed 24-Jul-19 09:27:16

Sara I wouldn’t use the word ‘superficial’. That’s diminishing really what for many of us makes life worth living at the everyday level. Some might say ‘simple’ things rather than superficial.

Sara65 Wed 24-Jul-19 08:42:54

The sun is shining, I’m going to take some of my grandchildren to the beach, I am about to throw a flat pack DVD rack, I bought for the children into the bin, my husband warned against it, oh I can make it, I said, no chance!

So I’m putting Boris and DVD racks out of my mind for the day, of course it will still all be here when I get home, not to mention my husbands “told you so”

Yes, I take pleasure in superficial things, I don’t see any reason not to

craftyone Wed 24-Jul-19 08:37:58

oh yes, I love the uk, why I voted for independence. My future holidays will all be in the uk, this glorious set of islands and we are so lucky to live here. Even happier about the uk now that Boris will be in charge, knowing that what my parents and grandparents fought for will come to pass and we will once again be self governing. Oh the common sense of the majority, it is there, bubbling under the surface hidden because so many of us have been gagged

Freedom, at last

GracesGranMK3 Wed 24-Jul-19 08:32:24

Well I'm a happy bunny. Johnson is polling lower than May did on the day she became leader at only 31%. So good to know the country isn't all mad.

lemongrove Wed 24-Jul-19 07:55:22

Listen to yourselves! ?
Must be the hot weather causing all this silly bickering.

Eloethan Tue 23-Jul-19 23:33:57

Trumpisms must be catching.

MaizieD Tue 23-Jul-19 23:26:43

Having lovely holidays in Scotland proves nothing, Jabberwock. Your constant attacks on Scots Nats on here tell a different story.

As for telling me I can leave! How childish can you get?

growstuff Tue 23-Jul-19 23:05:16

It's amazing how some people are pleased with superficial things. I suppose it reflects the depth of their thinking.

Jabberwok Tue 23-Jul-19 19:23:34

MaisieD I'm sure you could move to Scotland and be welcome with open arms! Why stay somewhere that makes you feel uncomfortable?!!

Jabberwok Tue 23-Jul-19 19:20:10

Course I don't hate the Scots, my in-laws and OH are highland Scots through and through, and we've had some wonderful holidays over the years at Arisaig, Fort William,Loch Morar and many lovely places north of the border.
What I do hate is the constant carping and hatred of England! It gets very tiresome, and if independence is what the Scots and anyone else wants, then the sooner the better and good luck to them! Unlike the EU we don't want to keep anyone in the UK a moment longer than they want !

MaizieD Tue 23-Jul-19 19:02:50

^ So happy days and win all round!^

Not for me. I'll be stuck in an England that is beginning to embody all the things I deplore. As will be a very large number of people who feel the same.

You really do hate the Scots, don't you, Jabberwock?

lemongrove Tue 23-Jul-19 18:55:00

And talking of sprinkles ( or sprinklers) we will be getting that going on the lawn tomorrow for the little DGC to have fun, it’s going to be another hot sunny one.May have fun ourselves too.grin
