I can imagine we will be horror struck as next week plays out. The cabinet will be a sight to behold.

WWM2, I think there should be a cross party enquiry on all forms of racism.

Boris Johnson likening the Burqa to a letterbox and then going on to defend the women's right to wear them was not his finest hour!

Emily Thornberry is on record saying she would not want her 4yr old being taught by a burqa wearing teacher or her elderly Mother being "cared for" by anyone wearing one.

The Muslim community has called for Johnson to honour his plead he to hold an enquiry into Islamophobia in the Tory party.

A Poll shows that at least 50% of Tory members would object to a Muslim prime minister.

There are numerous recorded instances of shocking anti-Muslim sentiments by both Tory mps, councillors and members.

The Institute for government - the most respected think tank in Westminster- has stated what we already know.

There is no such thing as a clean break “no deal”.

A no deal will leave Johnsons spending plans in tatters, and the union under severe pressure, with NI being most. severely affected.

Rather than turbo charging the economy, a no deal will mean that Johnson has to spend huge amounts trying to support businesses the NHS etc.

It is revealed that the government planning assumptions are just that “assumptions” with nothing concrete.

Re writing history.

That is what every authoritarian government does.

The campaign is being rewritten backwards to prove that they were always right.

There is a lot of noise from Brexiteers on how those who don't want Brexit should shut up, but if we failed to warn about what we see as the pitfalls into which the whole country could be dropped, we would be failing in our responsibility as reasonably intelligent citizens.

jura2 Mon 29-Jul-19 08:56:43

... during the Campaign.

jura2 Mon 29-Jul-19 08:54:36

I have in the recent past, posted several videos showing the promises made by our politicians and also the likes of Farage- NOT A SINGLE MENTION OF NO-DEAL anywhere, from anyone, inferred or stated.

MaizieD Mon 29-Jul-19 08:49:39

The whole nation is being gaslighted, isn't it?

Perhaps some of our passionate Leavers would be so kind as to show us some firm evidence of 'no deal' being talked about as a viable option during the run up to the 2016 referendum.

So far all I've seen is attempts to prove it was inferred from various statements on both sides. Sorry, inferred isn't good enough. Where can I see it written down or being said on video?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 29-Jul-19 08:25:31

Good grief the cabinet is learning very quickly.

R4. Raab interview

Being assured that no deal was discussed in depth before the referendum. I suppose some poor sap will believe that.

Lying is beginning to be a policy I think.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 29-Jul-19 08:13:35

Oh not £10 million for leaflet.

It is actually £100 million.

Dear oh dear.

It’s the hypocrisy isn’t it.

Austerity for the poor and undeserving.

Vast wealth for ideological projects.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 29-Jul-19 08:03:04

crystal imagine the very wealthy like Mogg etc, they must be coining it in. Brexit is going to be so lucrative for them.

crystaltipps Mon 29-Jul-19 07:50:20

Meanwhile the £ slips ever further down. Glad I’ve got some euros.

crystaltipps Mon 29-Jul-19 07:49:34

And of course there are the tax cuts for the wealthy.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 29-Jul-19 07:41:42

£10 million more on leaflets so that he put put his lies in print.

£300 million promised for Scotland, Wales and NI

I’m beginning to lose count as to the total.

This must be the biggest spending promises ever.

Of course the cost of actual brexiting hasn’t been taken into account. That will be eye wateringly enormous.

Johnson’s money tree must be pretty Potteresque. Able to shake off its money at random.

PP was sacked as a minister because she had breached the ministerial code - so why, when she has proven she breaks rules and lies, is she now been promoted to Home Sectretatry, the person in charge of law and order?

GracesGranMK3 Sun 28-Jul-19 14:07:44

Back to his government. Someone has probably mentioned this but I didn't realise that Ms Petel has been a lobbyist - unpopular I gather - for the alcohol and tobacco industries. Apparently she has yet to resign this £1,000 an hour position. She will have to stop but after effectively offering the Israeli government humanitarian aid in a covert manner who knows whether she will stick to the rules now.

In case you've no idea who John Redwood is, here's a reminder.

I know we are not supposed to mention trolls, but does anyone else think that YorathO may be one? No answers to any posts, just huge dull swathes of cut and paste. Could this be a poor example of Dominic Cummins' work? If you are real YorathO, welcome, and I apologise if offense is taken.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 28-Jul-19 13:00:41

Well, he is being very tiggerish so you would expect a bounce. Tiggerish people tend to become annoying very quickly as do empty promises. It will be interesting to see if his plan is for more than words.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 28-Jul-19 12:20:23

Thinking though, I would expect the Johnson bounce to last the summer, because he won’t be doing anything. So it will be interesting to see if it lasts to another election, he won’t do much if anything before if he calls one in September.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 28-Jul-19 12:14:06

Ch. 4 in an interview suggested that the EU and remainers should do nothing about Johnson’s threat for no deal.

Just let him get to the cliff edge and see if he has the balls.

The U.K. will not be remotely ready for no deal, neither at the ports or civil service.

Just how much chaos is he prepared to cause?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 28-Jul-19 12:03:29

The polls are showing the expected bump for Johnson as is usual after an election, but they are pretty tepid and won’t last.

I think an election is inevitable in September.
