I can imagine we will be horror struck as next week plays out. The cabinet will be a sight to behold.

dragonfly46 Mon 22-Jul-19 13:32:41

But Urmston you are assuming that everyone wants Brexit. I can assure you there are just as many Remainers as Brexiteers and we would like to be represented. I sincerely hope that Yvette Cooper stays in parliament as she is the voice of reason and is probably one of the only ones who is not self -serving.
I am horrified that after a no deal Brexit we are going to do deals with a racist misogynist and are going to be plunged into deep recession.

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-19 13:25:39

No fascist at all dragonfly the reality is their constituents now won’t vote for them so I expect they’ll know that already and either not apply or try for a Remain constituency.

dragonfly46 Mon 22-Jul-19 13:18:27

Many like Soubry, Yvette Cooper, Dominic Grieve will likely be deselected

So that's how a democracy works is it? Getting rid of everyone you disagree with!
That is indeed fascist.

GracesGranMK3 Mon 22-Jul-19 13:16:46

More assumptions on your part and way off the mark. [Mon 22-Jul-19 13:13:39]

I can only go on your posts petra. So what economic system do you want for our country?

GracesGranMK3 Mon 22-Jul-19 13:14:49

‘Healthy’ profit? Hahahaha! Wonder if Greece sees it that way? [Mon 22-Jul-19 13:11:43]

I am sure they don't but that is the neo-capitalism of Johnson and his ilk. They will screw you and me just as easily.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 22-Jul-19 13:13:50

I see the US is disowning the U.K. over the seizure of British tankers.

More assumptions on your part and way off the mark.
But if it makes you happy ( and I think you need some jollity in your life) keep on thinking that way. ?

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-19 13:12:20

They will. In my opinion.

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-19 13:11:43

Time to talk. [Mon 22-Jul-19 13:07:10]

You simply don't get it, do you? The EU is a rules-based organisation who have "interpreted" their rules as far as they can to meet the Tory red lines. Why do you think they are suddenly going to give all they have built up over decades. They certainly don't want to lose us but even more, they will not go outside their rules.

MaizieD Mon 22-Jul-19 13:11:15

My comment about the ‘swamp’ was tongue in cheek!

You know what, Ug? I don't believe you for one single second. I think you really do think that. Fascist language seems to have become normalised these days. What a sh*t show we've been drawn into; just to keep the Tory party together..

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-19 13:10:28

A general election will put new voices in the HoC and facilitate Brexit. In my opinion.

Many like Soubry, Yvette Cooper, Dominic Grieve will likely be deselected.

Parliament will have a whole new dynamic.

GracesGranMK3 Mon 22-Jul-19 13:07:20

petra Mon 22-Jul-19 13:03:02

Aren't you a good neo-capitalist Tory voting for Johnson? If so how can you argue against a healthy profit taken from people in need of a loan?

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-19 13:07:10

I agree petra and if Varadkar doesn’t help with a solution to trade between us and them, where will they sell their Irish beef now that the EU have done a deal to buy beef from South America? We are their second highest importers of it.

Time to talk.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 22-Jul-19 13:06:50

Johnson won’t call a GE if he never becomes PM through his inability to form a government.

Presumably it will be the Queen who will by proroguing as there won’t be anyone who could command a majority, unless the Lab and Lib Dem’s form a coalition. But I think that highly unlikely.

A GE doesn’t resolve Brexit.

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-19 13:03:41

I bet Boris has to call a GE and if he wants to ‘get Brexit done’ he needs to talk with Farage. A combined force will get it over the line.

petra Mon 22-Jul-19 13:03:02

Urmstongran
an aid package like they gave to the Greeks
Of which the German banks have so far made over €3 billion profit.
I think the Republic are going to need all the help they can get now that the eu have done a deal with Mercosur ( the South America trading block)

Whitewavemark2 Mon 22-Jul-19 12:59:59

Using such terms is fine providing you are supporting a hard right fascist type stance.

crystaltipps Mon 22-Jul-19 12:56:47

I presume brexcrement comments like “the swamp is draining itself” beyond disgusting - that presumes more than half of the population are part of a “swamp” to be drained. ( before I am jumped on for my comment thanks go to B Johnson)

Whitewavemark2 Mon 22-Jul-19 12:54:17

So it s likely that Johnson’s majority will be down to 2 by September.

If the rumours are true there are a number of Tories are considering about jumping ship.

Either way Johnson’s majority is in severe jeopardy.

hazel93 Mon 22-Jul-19 12:42:54

I am not a Tory but that does not preclude me from listening and evaluating the opinions of others.
I was very struck by Max Hastings comment "the only people who like Boris don't know him". End of.

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-19 12:35:41

Cabinet ‘sackings’ happen all the time especially with an incoming P.M.! It’s usually called a reshuffle. Boris will understandably want to choose his own Cabinet. As would any new P.M.

My comment about the ‘swamp’ was tongue in cheek!

GracesGranMK3 Mon 22-Jul-19 12:08:29

"The swamp is draining itself." Mon 22-Jul-19 11:35:17

Do you realise just how fascist that sounds? How about adding swarms and rats into your borrowed language? They are people with a different view of politics. That's all and that is what, so far, we have been allowed to have.

GillT57 Mon 22-Jul-19 11:52:27

Urmonstongran your belief in Johnson is staggeringly naive. Alan Duncan resigned due to his knowledge of working with Johnson. He described himself as Johnsons 'pooper scooper" because he spent his time in the foreign office clearing up Johnson's shit. I find your clearing thr swamp statement chilling, rather like the Trump rallies of the faithful. I can excuse BJ as he is power at any cost but I find it hard to understand the motivation of those of you who are cheered at the prospect of him in power

suziewoozie Mon 22-Jul-19 11:51:22

But to be fair, can you criticise them for getting their resignation in first? I wouldn’t wait to be sacked in those circumstances
